One day a farmer went out for a walk with his daughter. The farmer put on a pair of wrong shoes-one with a thick sole(鞋底) and the other with a thin one. So as he began to walk, he felt very uncomfortable. When he was just out of the house, he turned to his daughter and said, "Why should one of my legs be longer than the other today?"
The daughter looked at his father's legs carefully as he was walking, and then laughed, "Oh, no, Daddy, your legs are all right. You have put on the wrong shoes."
The farmer was very happy to hear that and said to himself, "What a clever daughter I have got!" Then he asked his daughter to go back and get the other pair of shoes for him.
The farmer had only two pairs of shoes.
When the daughter ran back to the house, she found that the other pair was also a pair of wrong shoes.
She had to return to his father with nothing in her hands and said out of breath, "It's no use changing them, Daddy! The shoes at home were not a pair, either!"
We may know that there are four basic periods(基本时期) for human beings(人类) to pass through when you enter and live in another country. This process(过程)helps you do with culture shock(文化冲击).
Culture shock begins with the "honeymoon period". This is the time when you first arrive in a place where everything about the new culture is strange and exciting. You see new things, hear new sounds and language, eat new kinds of food. This period can last for quite a long time because you feel very happy.
Unluckily, the second period can be more difficu1t. After you have got used to(习惯) your new life, you can become very tired and begin to miss your motherland, your family, your friends, your pets and so on. Al1 the little prob1ems in life seem to be much bigger and more worrying when you face them in a foreign country. This period can be very difficult and lead to moving backwards quickly.
The third period is called the "adjustment(调整)period". This is when you begin to know that things are not so bad in the new country. Your sense of humor usually becomes stronger and you know you are becoming stronger by 1earning to take care of yourself in the new place. Things are still difficult, but you are now a survivor.
The fourth period can be cal1ed "at ease at last". Now you feel quite comfortable in your new place. You can do with most problems that you have. You may still have problems with language, but you know you are strong enough to do with them. At this time, you may feel a little uncomfortable if you go back to your motherland.
One day, 100 people were attending a speech(演讲). The speaker was making a speech about happiness. However, after a few hours, people began to lose their attention(注意力).The speaker thought of an idea. He stopped his speech and asked all of the people to take part in a group activity.
He gave each person a balloon(气球) in the room. Each person was asked to write his or her name on the balloon with a black marker (记号笔). Then, all of the balloons were collected and moved to another room.
The 100 people were then let into the room and told to find the balloon with their own name.
Everyone rushed around, crazily searching for their own balloon. People were bumping into and tripping (绊倒) over each other.
But after about five minutes of searching, no one could find their own balloon. After seeing this, the speaker asked each-person to collect a balloon and try to find the person Whose name was written on it. Everyone started talking to each other and asking each other for their name. In just a few minutes, everyone had his or her own balloon." Can you see what happened?" the speaker said.
"The balloons are like the happiness we look for in our own lives. Everyone is busy looking for their own happiness, not caring what happens to others. But sometimes the best way to find happiness is to help others. Help them find happiness and you can find your own."
Do you want to live a happier, less stressful(有压力的) life? Try laughing for no reason at all.
That's how millions of people start their day at Laughter(笑声) Clubs around the world and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy.
The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria."Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day," says Dr. Kataria. "Everyone is naturally good at laughing — it's the common language. We want people to feel happy with their lives." There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over 1,300 in the world.
Many doctors are also interested in the effects(效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body. Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%.
So what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest, I wasn't interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking silly. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say "ho ho ho, ha ha ha" while looking at each other. However, our bodies can't tell the difference between real laughter and unreal laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects.
Surprisingly, it works! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real and some people just couldn't stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed and comfortable I felt. So if you're under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results.
Do you know the girl named Li Ziqi from Sichuan? She is famous for her videos in which she does the work of a farmer. She owns a great number of fans on the Internet all over the world now.
Li grew up with her grandparents in the countryside of Sichuan Province. When she was 14, she went to the city in search of work, but she decided to return to the countryside in 2012 to take care of her grandmother. Four years later, she began 1o film (拍摄)her life there.
"When I worked in the city, it was about survival(生存), "Li said. , "Now when I work in the countryside. I feel like I'm truly living. "
Li's videos record her daily lives with her grandmother in their simple home. She is often seen preparing delicious meals for her grandmother using basic materials and traditional skills. "I simply want people in the city to know where their food comes Li explained. also want people to relax and experience something nice by watching my videos after a busy day. "
Li's videos show her 血 is a wonderful world. Many of the skills she shows are based on real-world knowledge and those skills come from real wish for the pastoral ideal (田园式理想生活)."My videos can be so popular among people because they love Chinese culture very much, 'Li said.
—Because I will have______ off. I'm planning to visit Xi'an.

I was walking down the road one day when my phone rang.1voice on the othe r end spoke to me, "Dad, please come back soon. I miss you so much!" I thought that it was a wrong number. A short while later, the call came once again, so I2rudely, "You've called the wrong number!" and then hung up. During the3days, I often got the4call. But I didn't care much about it. Then one day she kept calling me,5I didn't answer. Later I answered the phone and heard a weak voice, "Dad, please come back. I miss you so much! Dad, I'm in so much6! Mom said you were too busy to take care of me. But, dad, please7me again, OK?" It was8to refuse the innocent(天真的, 无邪的) ask. I made a9kiss on the phone and heard the weak voice say, "Thank you…Dad, I am so…happy, so…happy…." Shortly after this, I became curious(好奇)about10had been on the other end of my phone. So I called back, and a woman answered, "Sorry, sir. I am really sorry to11you. My daughter has had bone cancer(癌症) since she was born. And her father…died in a car12two weeks ago. I didn't want to tell her the news. Poor baby. When she couldn't13the painful chemotherapy(化疗), she would cry for her dad because her dad14encouraged(鼓励) her. I really don't know what to do, so I gave her a random(随意的) phone number…""How is your daughter now?" I couldn't wait to ask. "She has died. You must have15her on the phone, because she died with a smile, tightly (紧紧地) holding the cell phone…." Tears full of my eyes…
Having nice friendships is one of the happiest things in life, but sometimes you might find yourself without any close friends. Here is some advice that might help you get through the hard times.
Loneliness (孤独) is something that everyone can feel. Feeling lonely doesn't mean you're a strange person. Having fun by yourself is totally possible. You can spend time doing activities you enjoy. That can be a good way to pass the time and help you get to know yourself better. Putting your energy into your dream is also a good way. For example, if you always dream of travelling to somewhere, make a plan for it.
To be positive (乐观的) is important. If you find yourself thinking "no one likes me", then remember you're always the best to your parents. Having healthy living habits can also help.
Spend at least three times a week doing exercise or something that makes your body feel comfortable. And try giving a big smile to the people you pass by on the street. Maybe you'll get a few back.
The last one is to make new friends. Going to the parties or activities that you are interested in. Although you might be shy, just believe in yourself and talk with people. You can also find friends on the Internet who share your thoughts and like the same things as you. They may not as close as those in real life, but it's still a good way to feel connected (有联系的) . Just be careful about meeting with them.
