How can we practice our spoken English?
The first and the most important thing is to believe in1. You should always be full of confidence or you will never be able to improve your English. You should often2yourself, "Come on, don't be afraid!"
You should never lose heart and never give up.
Maybe you3losing face, but you should think we are students and we are learning, so there's no need to worry about anything. You must always be active in practice. There's4that your pronunciation and intonation (语调) can't be as good5the native people, because we are Chinese, and we don't have chances to live in foreign countries and talk with the people there6. But you must know that the main way to study English is to make ourselves7and understand other people. You should believe that the native speakers will not laugh at you. 8, they will encourage you. So if you are brave enough, you'll certainly make9progress in your spoken English.
Don't be shy or afraid! I'm sure you can make your dream10.Just have a try.

On a Friday night, a poor young artist stood at the gate of the New York railway station, playing his violin. The music was so great that many people stopped to put some money into the hat of the young man.
The next day, the young artist came to the same place, and put his hat on the ground gracefully. Different from the day before, he took out a large piece of paper and laid it under his hat. Then he began to play the violin. It sounded more pleasant than ever. Soon he was surrounded(包围) with people who were attracted by the words on that paper. It said, "Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an important thing into my hat by mistake. Please come to claim (认领) it soon."
After about half an hour, a middle-aged man rushed through the crowd to the violinist and said, "Yes, it's you. I knew that you were an honest man and would certainly come here." The young violinist asked calmly, "Are you Mr. George Sang?" The man nodded. The violinist asked, "Did you lose something?" "It's a lottery ticket(彩票)," said the man. The violinist took out a lottery ticket on which George Snag's name was seen. "Is it?" he asked. George nodded and took the lottery ticket and kissed it, then danced with the violinist.
The violinist was a student at an art college and had planned to attend advanced studies in Vienna. Later his classmate asked the violinist, "At that time you needed money to pay the tuition and you had to play the violin in the railway station every day to make money. Why didn't you keep the lottery ticket for yourself?"
The violinist said, "Although I don't have much money, I live happily. But if I lose honesty, I won't be happy forever." Through our lives, we can gain a lot and lose so much. But being honest should always be with us.
A successful man was driving his new car down a street. He saw a kid was throwing stones at the cars, and then he slowed down. But as his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a stone hit the car's side door! He drove his car back to the place where the stone had been thrown. The angry man jumped out of his car, caught the kid and shouted, "What was that all about? That's a new car and that stone you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"
The young boy was apologetic. "Please sir... please, I'm sorry... I didn't know what else I could do. I threw the stone because no one stopped..." With tears in his eyes, the boy pointed to another boy. "It's my brother," he said. "He fell out of his wheelchair (轮椅) and I can't lift him up."
The man lifted the boy back into the wheelchair in a hurry. Luckily, the boy wasn't hurt.
"Thank you very much," the child said to the stranger.
The little boy pushed the wheelchair toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the car. The damage was very noticeable (明显的), but the man never repaired the side door. He kept the dent (凹痕) there to remind him of this message: Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a stone at you to get your attention!
Life is never going to get easy. You know those times that make you feel lonely. Maybe you're not alone, but you just feel that way. Then how to deal with it?
Think Positively(积极地). Or your life is going to be filled with negative(消极的)thoughts. There is no reason to think that nobody likes you or you don't have friends. If you keep thinking positively, you're sure to be a more positive person.
Center on your hobbies. You probably feel lonely because you're centering on the social side of school and life. You'll stop worrying about popularity. You'll start to look forward to something you enjoy.
Find an outlet(发泄方法).This is similar to the step above. Find something that makes you happy. Just do what you want to do.
Be more social .Talk with others. You surely have at least one person with something in common with you. If you become more social then people will talk to you. Then you won't feel lonely any more.
Don't give up. If you keep on telling yourself you will be okay, you will be.
A. Try to be more outgoing and friendlier. B. Whether it is a book, a sport or drawing doesn't matter. C. Don't keep thinking negatively when you face problems. E. Ask your parents for advice. F. Don't give up on yourself; cheer yourself up instead. G. Center on something that you love. |
