Do teenagers in small villages do housework at home? How about the teenagers in big cities? To know the answers, 21st CENTURY made a survey last month. They asked 4,000 teenagers in China. Half of them come from big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The others are from small villages. They made a chart(图表) according to our survey. Let's have a look at it.
We can find out that teenagers in small villages do more housework than those in big cities. Maybe it is because they live a harder life. We will give our ideas to parents in big cities. We think parents should make their children do some housework because it's a good way for teenagers to learn how to take care of themselves.
Last weekend, I went to France(法国) for the first time. I had a trip in Sete, a small seaside town in the south of France. I went with a French friend and I stayed with her family. The sky was blue and the sun was shining.
When I was there, my friend took me to the cinema. I loved going to the cinema at home in England, but I had been in France for three months and I went to the cinema for the first time. I was worried because I was afraid that I couldn't understand(理解)the film. It was a very small cinema with just three small rooms. It looked nothing like the cinema in my hometown. We chose to watch a Disney movie because the story was easy to follow.
I was surprised to find that I understood almost everything. However, it was a little difficult to know every word of the songs, but I understood the feelings and the stories behind them, so it wasn't too bad. I recommend watching a film in a foreign(外国的)language because it shows you how well you learn the language. I have no reason to be nervous, and now I think I will watch more movies in the local cinema of the French town.

What do we do when we go camping? First, we make a plan. We take food, clothes, a knife, and things for cooking and eating. We take things to keep us away from insects(昆虫) and the sun.
Then we put everything into the car and we drive to the woods. We look for a place for campers and we look for a good place for our tent. The place should have a lot of moving air. This will keep some insects away. High land with water on both sides of it is good. Then we put up our tent. We put everything into the tent, and we are ready for fun. We can swim in the lake, walk in the woods, climb a mountain, row a boat, or go fishing.
In the evening we come back to the tent, and we build a big fire because it can keep the insects away. We sit around the fire and talk. We may tell interesting stories or we may sing songs.
At night we lie down on the grass. We can look up at the stars. It is a busy day, so we try to go to sleep early.
Everything is dark. Everything is quiet. We hope we won't hear music from the radio in the next tent. We hope it won't rain.
Too many people want others to be their friends, but they don't give friendship back. That is why some friendships don't last very long. To have a friend, you must learn to treat(对待) your friend in the way you want your friend to treat you.
Being honest is the start of a good friendship. If you don't tell the truth, people will usually find out. Then you may lose your friend's trust.
Generosity(慷慨) means sharing. You don't have to give your lunch money or your clothes, but you have to learn how to share things you enjoy—like your hobbies and interests. These can be meaningful to a friend. They tell your friend what is important to you. Then your friend can know you better.
Everyone needs to help with a problem. Talking about the problem can make it easier to solve You must try to put yourself in your friend's place so that you can understand the problem better.
But all true friendships have three things in common. If you plan to keep your friendships, you must practice being honest, generous and understanding.
A. So to be a friend, you must listen and understand. B. Friends must be able to trust each other. C. Learning to be a good friend means learning three rules: be true; be generous (慷慨的); be understanding. D. No two friendships are ever exactly alike(十分相似的). E. Naturally you will want to share your ideas and feelings. |
This summer, a big flood (洪水) hit Henan Province hard. Some people died or went missing in this terrible disaster (灾难). People from all over China came to help Henan, including some people I know.
My mother told me that her hairdresser, Mr. Zhang was going to close his shop. He was going to Zhengzhou to help with the rescue (救援) work for one month. Mr. Li is a restaurant owner in my neighborhood. He was also going to Henan to help out. I was really moved by their spirit.
But unlike them, some people did nothing but complain(抱怨) online. I don't think they did the right thing. During disasters, saving lives is the most important. And complaining will just make people afraid and worried. I think we should have the positive energy (正能量) like Mr. Zhang and Mr. Li. I sent my best wishes to Henan online. Helping others is the best way to help ourselves.
Everyone is good at something, but some people are truly talented. It's always interesting to watch other people show their talents. Talent shows are getting more and more popular. First, there were shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent.
