Every year, my school holds a sports meeting. It is often in October or November. But I am not 1 in taking part in games. So I just cheer on my classmates loudly.
But last sports meeting, I decided to 2 myself and win some fans, especially that pretty girl. I chose to try the high jump. I thought it was as 3 as jumping over the short fence around my house. I had plenty of 4 with my fence before the game.
Finally it was time for the high jump. I walked to the playground 5, with classmates walking after me, as well as the girl. I was both excited and pleased.
But when I noticed the pole was 6 than my fence. I wasn't so confident. Could I give up? No! I had no choice 7 to have a try. I warmed myself up by moving my legs to make me
8. Then I began to run. One! Two! Three! Jumped! But I didn't jump. Because of fear, I just 9 the pole with my hands.
My classmates began to laugh, the girl, too. In such a 10, I felt bad. With all the eyes on me, I tried several times. But I wasn't confident 11 to jump over the pole every time. For the last time, I jumped 12 with all my power. Oh, no! My right foot made the pole fall down onto the ground. And then, another 13 thing happened: I couldn't stand. My foot was badly hurt.
I lay there with eyes closed. I heard all the 14 laughed wildly. The girl even laughed to die... Oh, too bad!
But in fact, my classmates did not laugh. They put the 15 people aside and helped me to the doctor's in a hurry. The girl looked after my shoes...
In the end, I actually won lots of fans in a different way.
Wenzhou is no more the place where it was hard for people to travel. Now we have had many travelling ways, and we are also busy completing and improving the Wenzhou Rail Transit with the help of our government.
Wenzhou Rail Transit will make the travelling more convenient. In the future, people will have more choices from the light railways(S1, S2, S3) to undergrounds(M1, M2, M3). At present, Line S1 is in service, and Line S2, S3, and M1 are under construction. The other two are in the plan. Here is some information about them.

Beijing Opera is a tradition in Chinese culture. It was formed from Jingban opera based on other operas. It has a history of over 200 years.
In Qing Dynasty, the emperors often celebrated their birthdays or important events by watching Jingban opera. In 1790, Emperor Qianlong wanted to try a different opera. So Huiban opera with other opera troupes was asked to the capital to perform with Jingban opera. The performance was very successful and popular, which made Jingban opera improve a lot. After many performances for a long time, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Beijing Opera finally formed and became the biggest of all the operas in China.
There are four main roles in Beijing Opera: Sheng (male), Dan (female), Jing (painted face, male), and Chou (funny clown, male or female). Sheng is the leading male actor. For example, a Wusheng is a soldier or a fighter, a Xiaosheng is a young man, and a Laosheng is an old man. Dan is the leading female role. For example, a Huadan is a young woman, and a Qingyi is a middle-aged woman. Jing, mostly male, is the face-painted role, and is the special role who is a history hero, such as Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, or Bao Gong. Chou is the comedy actor or clown with funny painted face. They mainly make the audience laugh and happy.
Beijing Opera roles usually wear fantastic costumes. They act, dance or fight with special singing and different body language. Besides special singing, fantastic costumes and different body language, Beijing Opera is full of interesting stories, and fairy tales from the old times, such as the dynasties Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing. So when you are watching Beijing Opera, you are actually learning Chinese history.
From the 1920s to the 1940s, Beijing Opera had four most well-known performers (Dan roles): Mei Lanfang, Shang Xiaoyun, Cheng Yanqiu and Xun Huisheng. They(especially Mei Lanfang) gave many perfect performances in different countries so that the world began to know Beijing Opera.
People in the city often travel by car, bus or bike. People near the sea travel by ship or boat. People in the snowy north have to use sleds. How do people often travel in the desert? Yes! Camels who are large animals living in dry areas can help.
Camels' body structure is different. Camels are very strong animals with wide, padded feet. They have thick leathery pads on their knees and chest. Camels have nostrils that can open and close, protecting them from the desert environment. Bushy eyebrows and two rows of long eyelashes protect their eyes from sand. Their mouth is extremely tough, allowing camels to eat thorny desert plants. Their widened feet help them move without sinking into the sand. Their thick coats stop sunlight, and also protect them from the heat from desert sand. Their long legs help keep them further from the hot ground.
Another is camels' adaptability. Camels are quite well-adapted to long travelling. Camels can go without food and water for 3 to 4 days. There are two kinds of camels. One is the Arabian camel with a hump. The other is the Bactrian camel with two humps. People commonly believe camels store water in their humps. In fact, the humps are actually full of fat, which gives camels power when they go through the desert. Camels are also quite well-adapted to their environment. When weather changes, camels can change their own body temperature, which stops sweating and water loss. They may not sweat at all during the day.
Because of these above, camels can carry people or things through the hot, dry deserts of the world. They are sometimes called "ships of the desert".
However, camels are in danger! The number of camels is becoming smaller for many reasons...
After winning the gold medal with three perfect scores in the women's 10-metre platform final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Quan Hongchan has charmed her way straight into the nation's heart.
Before all kinds of interview cameras, the 14-year-old girl said she was even more nervous than leaping off the 10-metre platform. She never thought of being a huge star on social media. She just told she must dive perfectly so that she could win some money for her mom's treatment.
Quan was born and raised in the rural village of Maihe, Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. The family has five kids. Her parents had to work hard for their kids. But unluckily, in 2017, her mother was injured in a car accident on the way back from her work. From then on, Quan's father alone had to pay all the money for both the kids' education and Mom's medical bills. After knowing that, many fans and companies offered to help Quan's family.
During a visit to Maihe Primary School, Chen Huaming, the diving coach at Zhanjiang Sports School, noticed Quan. "Actually, she is a very talented athlete." Chen said, "If you looked too hard for such a talent, you might not find one. But somehow, when you don't expect it, she just shows up in front of you." Chen was pleased he found a true talent.
But Quan's father said "I don't agree only her talent makes her successful. If she didn't work hard, she couldn't be successful. If her coach didn't train her strictly, she couldn't get the gold medal."
Quan's story and her success have won the heart of the nation. She is very great. We should learn from her.
① She won the gold medal in the women's 10-metre platform.
② Her mother was injured in a car accident on the way back.
③ The diving coach Chen Huaming noticed her diving talent.
④ Many fans and companies offered to help Quan's family.
