It was nearly dark, the sun was dropping down the mountains far away. Little Tom came back home, with tears in his eyes.
"What's the matter, Tom?1is your trip?" his mother asked with a big smile. "I failed. The mountain was so high and full of big or small stones on the way, I still went ahead. But I was2and it was so late that I had to come back. " Tom cried. "It doesn't matter, you are only 14 years old after all. You will have3chance. " his mother said. "But, standing at the top of the mountain is my dream!" Tom said.
His father came over and asked, "Did you see the green trees on your way to the mountain?" "4, and there are also a lot of beautiful flowers on the side of the road. " Tom replied. "Did you5the birds singing?" his father asked. "There were many kinds of birds singing in the trees, and the sound was very nice" Tom said. "Did you feel the beauty of6?" his father asked. "Yes, the blue sky, the white clouds, the green trees and the colourful flowers made a nice picture. "Tom answered.
"That's7!"his father smiled and said, "Please remember, son. For often, getting what you want is not the most8thing. Although you didn't9the top of the mountain, you got a lot on the way. " It is true that not every goal will be achieved, not every job will end up with a10, and not every dream will come true. The most beautiful scenery is on the way.
When I tidied up(整理)some old boxes under my bed, I found an old letter for me from my best friend. Her name was Minnie.
In the letter, Minnie wrote, "I am really sorry about before. Tell me if you will be my best friend again and tell me if you accept(接受)my apology. " I wrote, "Yes. I will be your best friend. "
The twelve-year-old letter made me remember the time that Minnie and I spent together. We often wrote to each other during that time. One minute, Minnie and I would be playing happily together; the other moment we would get into arguments. But things would always be better again. She gave me a doll(洋娃娃)for my tenth birthday. I still keep it.
Finally things changed. We stopped writing letters to each other after she moved away, and I could no longer ride my bike to her house. Years later, she invited me to her sixteenth birthday party. I don't see Minnie very often from then on. But I'll always keep the letter and I'll never forget the time we spent together.
Hey, doctor. I'm a boy. My problem is that I'm very short. I feel so sad about it. In school no child is interested in talking to me. And I get bad grades. What should I do? |
Hi, boy! No one is perfect. Don't be sad because of your shortcoming. Maybe you are not tall, but it doesn't mean anything about who you are or how you should live your life. Why don't you talk to your parents about your feelings? I think they will help you. As for your studies, there are many ways to improve, such as doing some reading every day, asking the teachers for help, and getting more sleep. To your friendship, I'm so sorry you feel no one is interested in talking to you. I'm sure there are children who would love to get to know you. Why don't you start conversations with others nicely first? Good luck and I hope this helps! |
While doctors and nurses were fighting with the Covid-19, thousands of volunteers in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province were showing their value as well. Zheng Nengliang, a young man from Hunan province, was just one of them. Zheng drove medical workers to the hospital since Spring Festival.
After a long, busy day, Zheng finally got a chance to have a break at 7:30 p. m on Feb. 10, taking a chance to answer the questions from reporters on his mobile phone. "I am safe and fine. Thank you. Everything is OK. We volunteers have good teamwork(团队合作). " he says.
On Jan. 25, he decided to go to Wuhan to help. There he became a volunteer driver. It was Spring Festival two days after the city was locked down. Every day, he sent the medical workers to treat the patients, offering to help for free.
In the beginning, Gao Qiulan, Zheng's girlfriend, didn't agree with his decision, but she changed her mind after Zheng told her the reason why he needed to go to Wuhan to help.
When asked if he was scared, Zheng replied , "Instead, I feel warm and taken care of, not fearful, because I see many medical workers fighting on the front line day and night, and medical material sent here from all over the world. "
Zheng was born in a poor family. He had a dream to make the world a better place, Gag explains. "I could not have finished my college education without the help from our government , Now it is the time to pay them back, "says Zheng.
