Alex was a giraffe in a zoo. As he grew up, his neck was much shorter than the others'. He became upset. His mother said to him, "You are special. Your neck is good. You don't have to worry about it."
Alex tried not to think about this. But as his friends grew taller and taller, his neck stayed short. Sometimes they laughed at him. His parents told him not to worry about that and he should enjoy himself. He tried. He could not even play some giraffe sports. He was too short.
One cool day, a worker in a zoo came and took Alex away which made him feel very scared. Alex said "Would I have to leave the zoo because of my short neck?" Alex was very sad. After the worker made Alex calm down(平静下来), he gave him some food. And he was kind to Alex. Alex felt better. Then the worker took Alex into another area of the zoo. There was a small door between the two areas. This door was only suitable for Alex to pass through. Other giraffes couldn't go through because they are too tall.
Soon Alex's parents came to see him. "My dear, you are special!" his mother said. "The zoo workers made a place for you because people wanted to see you. How special you are!" She was right. Visitors pointed to him and shouted in surprise. They looked happy to see such a special animal in the zoo because he was so special and cute.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of the four famous classical works in China. The writer is Luo Guanzhong, a famous novelist(小说家) in the late Yuan Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty. It is the first chapter novel(章回体小说) in the history of China.
It mainly describes the war. It tells the story of the war between the groups of heroes at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The most wonderful part is the process(过程) of fighting for the world between the Wei, Shu and Wu Kingdoms. Sima Yan finally unified(统一)the three Kingdoms and set up the Jin Dynasty.
There are five parts and many characters in the book. The writer mixes the thirty-six tactics(计策) of war with the stories, which makes the stories very interesting to the readers. There are around 70% facts but 30% of the story is made up in the book. Some parts such as Guan Yu's weapon(武器) weighing up to 40 kilograms and Liu Bei's horse are probably made up by the writer.
Although this history happened more than 1700 years ago, characters such as Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liang have become famous names among us. Their bravery, adventures(冒险) and many more are told in the book Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

DIY is popular in China now. Do you know what it is?
Yang Chen works for a computer company(公司)in Beijing. Though she enjoys her work, it is hard for her to relax after work.
"For a long time, I had no choice except(除了) going to a bar for a drink to relax myself," she said.
One day when she saw many toy dogs in a toy shop, she had an idea." Why not do some kinds of things and relax myself?" Then she began to make model planes, model ships and something else. The things she has made by herself don't look as professionally(专业的)made as those in the shops, but she likes doing it. "It's not as -much fun to play with things which are bought expensively from the shops," she said.
Now her bookshelves are full of many kinds of things she has made. They are very beautiful and her families and friends like them very much.
More and more young people are like Yang, making things on their own. They like to do it themselves. They think DIY is a good way of life now.
Though making things with our own hands may take much time, some people, now known as DIYers —do-it-yourselves, enjoy doing it very much. They can make all kinds of things they like.
DIY is becoming more and more popular in China. It may be new to the young, yet many people remember when it was once a way of life.
During 1960s and 1970s, because there were not enough living things for people to live on, they had to use their own hands to do many things. Making clothes was a part of life because there was no other choice. If you wanted something done, you had to do it yourself, and if you needed something, you made it yourself. But times have change and DIY also has different meaning now.

The Monkay King is not just any normal monkey. fact, he sometimes does not even look like a monkey ! This is because he can make 72 (change) to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and objects. But he can hide his tail, he cannot turn himself into a man. To fight bad people, the Monkey King uses magic stick. Sometimes he can make the stick so small that he can keep it in his ear. other times, he is able to make it big and long.
And as soon as the TV program came out more than 30 years ago, (west) children became interested in reading this story because the clever Monkey King keeps (fight) to help the weak and never gives up.
