I'm always thinking about the little wonders I find in the world around me. An old suitcase, which my father has treasured for several decades in his house, has become the biggest wonder in my life.
My father was ever an1when he was young. After struggling for 20 years, he got all his work done well and came back living with my mother 50 miles away from my new house.
A few months ago, I2to visit my parents. As soon as my car stopped, my father brought me in and said, "Come, I have3for you." I followed him to his study. It was an old suitcase. At first sight it might not look like much, it was just a4brown suitcase with two silver locks up on the top. But to him, it's 5what a miracle looks like.
That suitcase is the very one my dad brought with him6he moved to the U.S. from Turkey in 1965. He was just a 19-year-old boy who had7 money, even didn't know a word of English at the time. He left all his friends and family with an empty stomach, 8that he would become an excellent artist one day. That suitcase carried my dad's most9things-many black-and-white photos from home and his favorite art works.
As a kid, I10paid much attention to the suitcase. It only lived quietly on the top of my bookcase. It was the time I got 11that my father told me about it. Looking inside, I found tons of photos and the letters 12wrote to my mother, back and forward between the U.S. and Turkey.
Tears came down, finally I realized 13the suitcase meant to him and his family. How beautiful that dirty old suitcase actually was, it carried my father's dream and the hopes of the family, it's a memory of not only the hardships my parents14, but also all the wonderful things they experienced, how they found love, how they15difficulties and how their dreams came true.

Beginning of Spring is to count down the last seconds which is the first of the 24 solar terms of the year, means the Chinese people's understanding of time. ice breaking to rise the Olympic Rings. "Ice breaking" Encourages the world to understand and respect each other.
Small torch is to take the place of big flame. " ▲ " he said. "They happen only once. Of course, we know that we cannot repeat Beijing 2008, so we are trying to be different from it. "
"In 2008 the Olympics were a valuable stage and a chance for our country to show ourselves," he said. "We would like to present our 5000-year history to the world and how we got to where we are today."
"But it's different now. China's status in the world, the image of the Chinese, everything is totally different now. So what the Winter Olympics show is the Chinese people's cultural confidence, pride love for the people of the world." Zhang said.
Could a Chewing Gum Reduce COVID-19 Spread? Researchers believe it can. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are working to create a special chewing gum that could help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by "neutralizing". The virus so a person can't transmit it to someone else.
Experts agree that vaccinations are the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it's also known that vaccinated people can still transmit the virus. The researchers are hoping that their chewing gum will give people a low—cost way lo further prevent COVID-19 from spreading. "The spread of Omicron in our real life depends on its ability of escaping antibodies, so neutralizing the virus is the first place. This gum offers a chance to neutralize the virus in the saliva giving us a simple way to possibly cut down on the disease transmission. "Henry Daniell, the leader of the research, told Penn Today.
The special gum has ACE2 that is from a plant, showed in lab studies to neutralize the virus. When researchers stuck saliva from COVID-19 patients to the chewing gum, they happily found the levels of virus were drastically reduced to the point that the virus was almost unable to be checked.
The research is still in its early stages, and the researchers are working on doing experiments in humans to test if the gun is safe and effective. If the gum works, Penn Today reported it could be used in situations where people need to be in close to each other—such as a plane journey, for example to reduce the risk of passing the virus to others.
"We are already using masks and other ways to reduce the chance of transmission, "Daniell said. "This gum could be used as an additional tool in that fight."
Before researchers can bring their chewing gum to market, they have to test how much of it could be used per day, which will be based on how long it takes the virus to copy. However, if it does prove to be an effective tool, Daniell told "hundreds of millions of chewing gum" could be produced in three months.
Once I spoke at a high school. After the speech, I was asked to see a special student. An illness had kept the boy at home, but he had expressed an interest in meeting me, and it would mean a great deal to him. I agreed. He was Matthew. When he was born, the doctor told his parents that he would not live to see five; then they were told he would not make it to ten. Now he was thirteen. He wanted to meet me because I was a gold—medal weight lifter, and I knew about overcoming difficulties and going for my dreams.
I spent over an hour talking to Matthew. Never once did he complain. He spoke about winning and succeeding and going for his dreams. He knew what he was talking about. He just talked about this hopes for the future, and how one day he wanted to lift weight with me.
When we finished talking, I went to my briefcase and pulled out the first gold medal won and put it around his neck. I told him he was more of a winner and knew more about success and overcoming difficulties than I ever would. He looked at it for a moment, then took it off and handed it back to me. He said, "You are a champion. You earned that medal. Someday when I get to the Olympics and win my own medal, I will show it to you."
Last summer I got the news that Matthew had died and a letter Matthew had written to me a few days before:
Dear Rick,
My mom said I should send you a thank—you letter for the picture you sent me. The doctors tell me that I don't have long to live any more. But I still smile as much as I can.
I told you some day I was going to the Olympics and win a gold medal. But I know now I'll never make it But I know I'm a champion like you, and God knows that, too. When I get to Heaven, God will give me my medal and when you get there, I will show it to you. Thank you for loving me.
Your friend,
Matthew

The tiger is a (象征) of Eastern culture in the eyes of some Westerners. Chinese people are celebrating the Year of the Tiger(开心) now.
Do you know anyone born in the Year of the Tiger? What are they like? Are they(勇敢) and strong? If so, then they are a typical "tiger". In Chinese culture, tigers(认为) as the king of all animals. So that's why in China you can see pictures of tigers on the(墙)of temples and houses.
Tigers have important cultural meanings not just in China, but across Asia. For example, strong economies in the East — Singapore, South Korea, China's Hong Kong and Taiwan — were called" The(四)Asian Tigers". Some years ago, the Canadian writer Yann Martel(选择) a Bengal tiger as the partner for Indian boy Pi on his survival adventure in the Pacific Ocean in the book Life of Pi. The tiger(它本身) just has special meanings. (相反、代替) of tigers, lions are the king of all animals in the West. Brave soldiers have the name "the lion". Just like tigers serve as a symbol of protection in Chinese culture, we can only hope that in the Year of the Tiger more people can learn about tigers and try(保护) them.
