Like many students, a 12-year-old boy Wang Wei had to learn on line in early 2020. His school1an "e-learning "way for the special period. Students must log in to their classes from home. Teachers must also log in and and2questions. Some teachers create and post videos to teach e-lessons. "There are a lot of3for us as technology develops. They are4for us teachers," says the headmaster. Though e-learning is convenient(便捷), Wang thinks nothing can replace(替代) the learning that happens in areal classroom of students with a teacher5them."
Alex was my friend. He was always happy and always had something interesting to say. lf someone asked him1he was doing, he would answered, "Couldn't be better!" He was really a care-free(无忧无虑的)young man and never felt2
Alex used to say, "Each morning I 3and say to myself, ‘Alex, you have two choices today. You can4to be happy or you can choose to be upset(郁闷).'I choose to be happy.5something happens, I am always ready to learn a good6. I choose to learn from life."
I tried to understand what he said. It is7that life is all about choices. Every situation is a choice. The bottom line is: You are8your own life and you make it either happy or sad.
Several years later, I had a car accident and my legs were9injured. I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or choose to die. I choose to live.
People like to say: "Choose the one you love and10the one you choose." Why not choose the one we love and live happily?
To learn how to make ourselves safe is especially important. Here are some suggestions of staying away from dangers.
Drowning(溺水)
First, you shouldn't swim in somewhere too deep, like rivers. Swimming pool is a good place. Second, students can't swim alone. If you want to swim, you have to go with your parents or friends. Another important thing is that you can't swim for too long.
Fire
Stay calm and follow teacher's instructions. Leave the classroom quickly and use a piece of cloth to cover your mouth and nose so that you don't breathe in smoke. If your clothes catch fire, drop to the ground and roll from side to side to put out the fire.
Traffic
lf you take a school bus on your way home or to school, remember to fasten(系紧)your seat belt and not to walk around when the bus is moving. If you walk to school or go to school by bike, remember to wait for the green traffic light. Look left and right before you cross the road.
Just like many other parts of Australia, the Lake Tyers region (泰尔斯湖地区) has long suffered from wildfires. But this region is different from others because of its fire brigade(消防队)一the firefighters are all women.
Charmaine is the leader of the team. About twenty years ago, a house in Lake Tyers caught fire. It was destroyed(毁坏) because there was no fire brigade nearby. Charmaine and her two friends decided to protect their own land by themselves. They started knocking on their neighbor's doors to look for teammates. Five other women joined them. Together they asked the government to give them firefighter training.
Since their fire brigade was set up, this well-trained group has put out many fires. Their job is not only to protect people and houses, but also to save their own history. They have helped to find hundreds of ancient artifacts(文物) on their land.
"When we first set up the team, some people called us the Banana Women," Charmaine said, "because we wore bright yellow uniforms(制服),"They liked the name so much that they keep calling themselves this name. They are bravest "Banana Women" in Australia!
Tea is important in many cultures. Tea is not a British drink. Actually, I think it's a Chinese drink. But there is something different, something special about the way the British make tea and the way the British think about tea.
Whenever the English feel awkward or uncomfortable in a social situation, They make tea. It's like a special rule. When in doubt, put the kettle on. Now these four words are possibly the most important words in the English language.
The kettle is a piece of equipment(设备) in every British kitchen. It's the thing that makes hot water. It boils(烧开) water. So when a British person says "I'll put the kettle on", this always means "I'm going to make tea". When visitors arrive in our home, we say "I'll put the kettle on". When we are in a difficult social situation, when we don't know what to say, when the conversation becomes silent, we say "I'll put the kettle on". After a bad accident or when people are injured and in shock, tea is always needed. So tea is still believed by British people to have some kind of magical power.
For British people, whatever the problem is, what you need is a nice cup of tea.
In Sweden, there is a wonderful library called Bokbaten. lt is a floating(漂流的)library. Bokbaten visits the remote(遥远的)islands every spring and autumn. The boat is filled with more than 3000 books. The boat stops at 23 islands and allows the islanders to borrow the books. You can return the books you borrowed during the last visit and borrow anything you like again. There are tall wooden(木制的)shelves full of all kinds of books, including picture books for children, texts about history and science, cookery books, and audio-books(有声读物).
The floating library has run since 1953. The country wants all its people, especially children, to read. They believe that reading is important for the quality (质量) of life and success. They want you to read books, as everyone has the chance to get education and knowledge.
The book boat is popular with both children and adults.
A. It doesn't matter where you live or whether you are rich or poor. B. It's a wonderful way to educate people for the future. C. It is in fact a big boat with thousands of books. D. It is the oldest library boat in Northern Europe. E. It then sails to the remote islands. |
Last summer holiday, l went to Wolong in Sichuan province. It was the (one) time I traveled alone and l felt really nervous.
I stayed at a small hotel next to the Wolong Panda Center. I was going (visit) the center the next morning after I arrived. I was excited that I couldn't sleep at night.
Everything went well at the beginning the next day. I saw many pandas (play) in the trees. They looked cute. I was not nervous any more. I also tried feeding the pandas some bamboo. When they were eating, they seemed to be quite happy and even wanted to make (friend) with me.
I lost my way soon. I was (worry) and nearly cried. At that moment, a local woman came up and asked if I needed help. She showed (I) the way back and I arrived at the hotel (safe)in the end.
Although it was a very short trip, I saw lot of things in Sichuan. This experience gave me the courage(勇气) to travel alone again in the future. It is really a great trip that I will never forget.
