If you're like us, after an exciting trip to the Eiffel Tower, you'll be ready to rest your legs and have a relaxing snack and a drink in a Parisian cafe. Actually, the perfect place for common visitors to eat and drink is on the Eiffel Tower itself.
Mac Carter, a British father of 14-year-old Ben who has autism (自闭症), searched on the Internet to find a specific kind of little blue cup for his son.
When Ben was two, Mac gave him a little blue cup that was made in China and ever since the cup has become one of the most important things in Ben's life. Mac never thought that the little cup would cause such a big problem. Ben became dependent on this cup because ever since he received the gift he would only drink water from the exact type of little blue cup. Over 12 years, Ben refused to drink water without the cup. Mac was worried about this because their current cup could break soon and he needed to find a replacement for his son to drink with. The problem was that the cup was no longer being produced.
Mac tried to take Ben to a doctor to solve the cup problem, but it was of no use. So Mac decided to seek help from the public on Twitter. He got a lot of responses and the enthusiasm people from all over the world showed gave him confidence and hope. Many strangers found their identical cup and offered to send them to Ben. Though Mac received a lot of help, he still was concerned. All the cups he received would eventually break. As time passed, it would be even harder to find the same cups.
The situation took a surprising turn when the baby products company Tommee Tippee UK got in touch with Mac. They sent a team to China, and they found the same exact mould (模具) for the cup in the factory that first made it. The company and the Chinese factory decided to make as many as 50 cups for Ben, and Mac was thrilled about all this.
When French musical Mozart L'opera Rock toured nine Chinese cities in the last two years, it drew a big crowd of fans, including Chen Yike, a 28-year old resident of Hangzhou. "It was the first French musical that I had ever seen," Chen said. She was so captivated by the show that she saw the production two more times.
Chen is one of many young Chinese who are increasingly fueling the country's performing arts market. More and more young people are investing time and money in live performances, such as concerts and plays. According to a report released by the Lighthouse Research Institute and ticketing firm Damai, young Chinese accounted for a record 55% of consumers of performing arts ticket sales in 2019 and 72% of concert attendees were people born after 1990.
Apart from young audiences, Chinese young performers are also doing increasingly well in the domestic market and show a great potential for indigenous culture (本土文化). For example, the 19-year-old Chinese singer-actor Jackson Yee featured as a coach on the reality show Street Dance of China. With more than 80 million followers on his Sina Weibo platform, Yee's participation helped attract audiences to another wise less known art.
On the program The Big Band, many young bands got the opportunity to show their music, and some have become quite popular. As a result, music that would have remained underground is now in the spotlight. "Many young bands on The Big Band inspire me to learn more about their stories and music," Yang Zixu, a fan of The Big Band, wrote on the Chinese Q&A platform Zhihu.
Thanks to the joint effort of young audiences and performers, there's "a driving force for Chinese cultural and creative industries" and it also "indicates China has entered a higher stage of development with better economic and social foundations," according to China Daily.
On September 2nd, BUAA (北京航空航天大学) welcomed its first 2021 student. His name is Xing Yifan, coming together with his parents ahead of time.
"Yifan is 18 years old, but he weighs only 18 kilograms. When 6 months old, he suffered from LAMA2 (渐冻症), a type of disease that no more than a hundred people have got in the country. However, with his strong will, he made one amazing achievement after another in learning. In this year's college entrance exam, he entered BUAA with a score of 645.
Because of the illness, Yifan can only sit alone for a while, unable to stand and walk like other children. In class, he could only put his head on the table and his eyes can only scan half the pages of the book. He couldn't turn over the book with one hand. And he could only sit and listen to a class for up to 30 minutes, with the remaining 15 minutes to lie down to listen to his teacher.
But these did not scare Yifan, with only a little muscle strength left in his hands, he finished one test paper after another, more than 20 a day, often till one or two o'clock in the morning. Finally, he successfully completed the 2021 college entrance examination.
To live is much more difficult than others. Why does he have to learn? The family said because of the serious disease, he was deprived (剥夺) of the right to walk, run, jump, but he can no longer be deprived of the right to education. Xing Yifan decided to let himself be Hawking of China, and change his life with knowledge.
He came to BUAA and stayed in the love dormitory on the first floor. Xing Yifan said he was feeling particularly warm with all the help. He was expecting new college life and hoped to know more students, and take part in lots of activities. Life kisses him with pain, but he sings.

If someone were to do that to you, how would you feel?"

One winter nine years ago, I 1 at a homeless shelter in Los Angeles, preparing meals for people. There I met Albert, who said he liked my socks. "Want to see mine?" he asked, lifting his 2. He was bare foot. He said he had been hoping to get a pair but had never made it. I felt a 3feeling in my stomach.
The next day, after work, I went to buy socks — about $100 4. That next morning, 5my alarm for 5 a.m. and drove to the local park, a common destination for 6 people.
It was still dark out. I took out a bag of socks and 7a group of men, standing around a tree, 8with cold. When I handed each of them a pair of socks, they looked confused at first, 9my motives (动机), but took them.
An hour later, I 10all the socks. Most people were sleeping. I felt like Santa. When they would wake up, they would find a very meaningful present .Every week I'll hand out many socks. If I'm away for more than a week, I will bring socks with me and hand them out to the homeless in other states and countries.
In the past years, this has become my habit. It's 11, I suppose, and it's incredibly 12to help make some people's 13 a little bit easier. Part of me hopes to see Albert out there, but 14, I don't, I'd like to think one of the pairs will 15him.
