CARTOON DIY GUIDE—Tips about four-frame cartoons
Four-frame cartoons(四格漫画) tell a joke or story. A cartoonist should be humorous. He or she should be able to draw and write stories.
Script
A script is the idea or story of the cartoon. You can write a script by yourself. Put the funniest part in the last frame. If it's at the beginning, readers won't look at the last three frames. If you are a beginner, you may need to find ready jokes or funny stories.
Picture
Avoid drawing two big heads talking in every frame. That's boring. Don't pay too much attention to the picture. The point of a four-frame cartoon is a funny story, not perfect pictures.
Hero
The key of the four-frame cartoon is its heroes. Garfield and Snoopy are examples. You like them, right? To draw your own cartoons, spend time creating the heroes. They can look simple (简单), but have to be finny.
Conversation
Good cartoons don't have too many conversations. People understand them just by pictures. The fewer words a cartoon has, the better. Too many words eat space. Readers have to spend time reading them. Use simple but expressive (有表现力的) words.
Venus is the second closest planet to the sun after Mercury. It gets its name from the Roman goddess of love and beauty. You can see it in the night sky. It's very bright. Only the moon is brighter. From space, the earth and Venus look similar(相似). It's called our sister planet! The earth is 12. 742kilometers across and Venus is 12. 104 kilometers across. They are almost the same size! They are both hot in the centre. They both have mountains and canyons(峡谷). But everything else about them is very different! The earth is beautiful and safe. Venus is the most dangerous place in the solar system.
Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. It is hotter than Mercury! Thick clouds on Venus keep all the heat inside. The temperature is 462℃! Venus' extreme temperature and acidic(酸性的)clouds make it impossible for life. The air on Venus is poisonous(有毒的) and very heavy. You would weigh more than 150 kilograms on Venus. Also days are really long on Venus. One day on Venus is as long as 117 days on earth! Nobody wants to go to school on Venus. An English class takes 40 days.
More than 40 spaceships have explored(探索) Venus. But no astronauts have visited it yet. It is just too dangerous!
