Everyone needs friends. We all like to 1close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things with.2, sometimes we need to be alone. We don't always want people 3. But we would feel lonely if we never had a friend.
No two people are 4. Friends sometimes don't get on well. That doesn't mean 5 they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will make peace with each other, and become 6 again.
Sometimes friends move away. Then we feel very 7. We miss them very much, but we can8 them and write to them. It could be possible that we could even see them again. And we can also9 new friends.
There's more good news for people who have friends. They live longer than people who don't have. Why? It could be that they are 10. Being happy helps you stay well and it could be good just knowing that someone cares about you.

Do you know pleasure of Farmhouse (农家乐)? It's a new way for holidays in China. Now, more and more people are interested in it, especially young people. Every weekend, thousands of people drive to the countryside. The farmers invite them to their farms even homes. Many people help the farmers work on the farms, such as fishing, watering the crops or picking apples. If you come to the farm, you will fall in love with the country life at once. Here you can listen to the birds, enjoy the beautiful view of countryside, breathe the fresh air and watch the crops grow. You can even taste the fresh produce, such as tomatoes and strawberries.
Pleasure of Farmhouse brings a good chance to enjoy the life of countryside, especially for people living in the cities. It can make them relax.
One farmer said, "Welcome children to our farms. We will show you where your food comes from."
Some Advice on Travel
★Forget fashion (时尚)! Always wear your most comfortable clothes when going on long journeys (旅行).
★Traveling on trains and buses can be boring, so take a good book to read.

★If you are going somewhere sunny, remember to bring your sun-block (防晒霜) and sunglasses.
★Always take a camera with you to capture those special moments.

Nowadays, people often go to another country to study or to work. Many find it difficult to adapt (适应), though. According to the study, up to 70% of adults experience homesickness (想家的) at some point in their daily life.
Almost anything can cause homesickness — a smell, a taste, even a color can make them think of home. Mohammed Barakat sent us a message on Facebook about his longing (渴望) for "the smell of rain and green" during the Sudanese (苏丹的) rainy season, Mari Damian misses "the smell of Christmas cakes". "I feel a little sad today because I'm homesick. I miss the delicious plates of spaghetti with a special sauce my mother used to make. She is a great cook. But I work in another country and I have to deal with occasional (偶尔的) feeling," said a young man.
According to Dr. Susan Matt, who wrote a book about the subject, people used to see it as a dangerous disease. The Greek poem Homer's Odyssey talked about it. But the modern term (术语) came into being in the 17th century to describe the feelings of soldiers, who missed their home while fighting in another country.
Modern technology (技术) can limit this feeling, letting people keep in touch with loved ones easily. Skype is a lifeline because it can let grandparents far away watch their grandchildren grow up. People should not let homesickness stop them living in the present. I follow advice given by Dr. Wood: I write down three new things that I am thankful for every night, as well as three things I'm looking forward to most every morning.
What about you? Have you experienced homesickness? What do you miss when you are away from your home and family?
Corn (玉米) is also called Indian corn or maize (from the Spanish word "maiz").
People in Mexico first grew corn about 10,000 years ago.
As well as being eaten by the cob (玉米棒子), people also use corn in many food products like ice cream, baby food, and salad. We can also find corn in many non-food things such as paint. People use it as food for animals as well.
40% of the world's corn is from the United States, making it the biggest corn grower in the world. There is an area called the "Corn Belt (地带)"in the US. The states in this area include Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas and Kentucky.
In the days of the early settlers (移民) to North America, corn was so valuable that people used it as money to buy other products such as meat and clothes.
In fact, corn can be produced in different colors—black, blue, purple, green, red, white and the most common yellow.
A. There are over 3,500 different uses for it.
B. It is surely part of the grass family in the world.
C. The weather in this area is good for growing corn.
D. Don't be surprised if you see purple or black corn in the field.
E. Drinks like Coca-Cola and Pepsi has corn sweeteners (甜味剂).

Teachers play a role in school education. They teach (student) how to study knowledge and how to /bɪ'kʌm/ successful people. So more and more people respect (尊敬) teachers around world.
A middle school in North China asks students to bow (鞠躬) to teachers /wen/ they meet their teachers. This school is Shangshu Middle School in Handan, Hebei Province. The school asks students to bow to their teachers before every class, after their morning run and at (others) specified (规定的) time this term. Teachers should in return. The new rules are part of a new "etiquette (礼仪) program" in order to reinforce (加强) traditional Chinese values.
What's more, the school regards bows and foot washing their homework. On weekends, students should bow to their parents and (wash) the feet of their elders.
According to the rules, a /raɪt/ bow stops at 90 degrees and should last more than 10 seconds.
The school is asking parents to keep eyes on their children's etiquette by (take) photos and posting them to a school talk group.
