A: You look worried, Peter.
B: Yes, Mr. Li, I'm not good at English.
A: But you told me you liked English.
B: Because I can't read English words well.
A: Well, listening can help. You can listen to them at home and repeat the sentences.
B: That's a good idea. But I can't spell most of the words well.
A: You can write the new words in your notebook and study them at home or on the way to school.
B: That might really help! Thanks.
A: Why don't you join an English club to practice speaking English?
B: Maybe I'll go. Another problem I have is that I don't get much writing practice.
A: Maybe you should find a pen friend.
B: Thanks, Mr. Li.

Last summer holiday I went to Chongqing with my family. My father told me that Chongqing is a city on mountains, so it has many levels and is named "5 D magic city". The trip to Chongqing was far beyond my expectation (远超出我的预料).
Before the trip, I watched many interesting videos about the city on Douyin, such as the train running through a building(索道) across the Yangtze River, the longest escalator.
We arrived there by plane in the morning. For lunch, I tried hot pot. It was spicy but very delicious. After that, I took a boat to go along the river. The lights and buildings on both sides of the river were beautiful. But it was too hot and I felt fried. I think I will go to Hainan Island next summer holiday.
Do you live in a city? Do you know how cities began?
Long long ago, the world had only a few thousand people. These people moved from one place to another. They moved over the land, hunting animals for food. No one knows how or when these people learned about growing food. But when they did, their life changed. They did not have to look for food any longer. They could stay in one place and grow it.
People began to live near one another, so the first village grew. Many people came to live and work in the villages, and these villages became bigger and bigger.
When machines appeared, life in the villages changed again. People built factories. More and more people lived near the factories. The cities began.
Today, it's strange that some people are moving back to small villages. Can you tell me why?
