Rules tell people what they should (应该) and shouldn't do. All good people follow rules. We start learning rules at home.
Parents want us to be safe(安全的). They want us to go home early after school. They want us not to watch TV too much. How can parents keep us safe? They can make family rules. The family rules help us know how to do some safe things.
It's important to let all people in the family write the rules. Writing the family rules helps us to remember and follow them.
The rules should be easy, so we can remember them easily. There shouldn't be too many rules. We can easily remember six to eight rules. Here are two kinds of rules.
"Do" rules
"Do" rules are good. Here are some examples (例子):
● Do your homework before dinner.
● Be helpful.
●Clean your room every day.
"Don't" rules
It's best to have more "Do" rules. Use "Don't" rules only when it's difficult to say what to do. Here are some examples:
●Don't watch TV too much.
●Don't go out at night.
Peter and I visited a new zoo last week. It was a big and beautiful one. When we were feeding the monkeys, a man with a big bag walked up to us. He asked, "Would you like to buy any food?" "No, thanks, "Peter answered. Just five minutes later, he came up to me and asked, "Do you need any drinks?" It was not hot that day, so I said, "No, we don't need drinks. "After about half an hour, he came up the third time, "Maybe you need to buy some gifts. "" No, we don't need anything!" Peter said and was a little angry.
Then we went away. We stayed there for a few hours and had great fun. When we were about to leave, the man came up again. We thought he still wanted to sell things to us. But he said, "I get lost. How can I get out of the zoo?"
More and more Chinese people like take-away food (外卖). They are usually busy with work and don't have time to cook meals after work. There are many different kinds, such as fried chickens, hamburgers, fish and chips. They are all delicious. People usually drive to buy some. Then they take it to their workplace (工作场所) or their homes.
Chinese people usually have a big meal on weekends. The family get together and go out to eat. Some people like to stay at home. They cook for themselves (他们自己). They like watching TV or talking about funny things when eating.
Chinese knots (中国结) are a kind of Chinese traditional art. They have a long history in China. Chinese began to make Chinese knots in the Tang and Song dynasties (朝代) and later they became popular in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Every knot is made of only one rope(绳) and colorful ropes are used to tie the knots. However, Chinese use red ropes to make Chinese knots most because it stands for (代表) good luck. The knots can be used as car decorations (装饰). Also, people put the knots in their houses.
You can see Chinese knots in different places of China and they are popular among the young and the old.
