Nora was 16 years old. Her little brother Jim was sometimes naughty, but he made Nora 1 a lot. One afternoon 2 she was walking in the street, she saw a little boy 3 very fast to her. When he came near her, she was 4 to see it was Jim. "Hi, Jim," Nora shouted to him. " 5 are you running so fast?" 6 Jim didn't stop. He waved to his sister and shouted, "I'm trying to stop two boys 7 fighting." Nora was surprised again. She laughed and 8, "That's an important job for a little boy, isn't it? You don't do things like that very often. 9 are the two boys?" "They are Tom and me." Answered Jim when he 10 down the street very quickly.
My name is Aram. I was born in Egypt and brought up by my grandparents in Italy. Before I came to the United States, I was very excited. I had dreamed of the life in the US for a long time. But I was also a little worried. Would I be welcomed by my classmates in the US? Could I make many friends there?
When I first came here, the US culture made me open my mind to learn about it. I have learned a lot of knowledge and language skills.
I would never forget my first day of school. Students in the US welcomed me warmly. They talked with me to know about me and my country. I didn't realize I could make so many friends here. My host family treated(对待) me like their own son. I got homesick(思家的) sometimes, but I felt better when I was staying with my host family.
I feel grateful to the volunteer organization and my host family. I also want to thank the US Department of State for helping me live and study in the US.
