My
name is Aram. I was born in Egypt and brought up by my grandparents in Italy.
Before I came to the United States, I was very excited. I had dreamed of the
life in the US for a long time. But I was also a little worried. Would I be welcomed
by my classmates in the US? Could I make many friends there?
When
I first came here, the US culture made me open my mind to learn about it. I
have learned a lot of knowledge and language skills.
I
would never forget my first day of school. Students in the US welcomed me
warmly. They talked with me to know about me and my country. I didn't realize I
could make so many friends here. My host family treated(对待) me like their own son.
I got homesick(思家的) sometimes, but I felt better when I
was staying with my host family.
I
feel grateful to the volunteer organization and my host family. I also want to
thank the US Department of State for helping me live and study in the US.
