April 27 is a special day in Britain. It's called Take Our Daughter to Work Day.It was brought to Britain in 1994 from America. On that day thousands of girls take a day off school and go with one of their parents to their work places. By doing this, it can teach girls more about the society where they live.
Now the girls can have a close look at what their parents are doing. This may help them to be calmer when they have to choose a job. Mary experienced a day of work at her mother's office. This helped her understand her mother's work better. She said that this made her feel more confident about her future
Schools and many companies support the activity, too. Some schools even make the day a necessary part of school life.
Experts think that girls with more self-confidence are more likely(可能的)to be successful than common girls. If parents can set good examples both at work and at home for them, they will do better than others. Take Our Daughter to Work Day is surely a step in the right direction.
Hello! My name is Chelsea, I'm a Chinese American. I was born in Beijing, but now I'm in America, and I'm so bored and have nothing to do, thanks to COVID-19! How is your new school year? Are you having fun?
Since mid-March, my school has been closed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The pandemic (流行病) of coronavirus has been going on for several months now. During the pandemic, I have to quarantine myself at home most of the time. I have been quarantined for over half a year. When you go out in public, you have to wear a face mask. In public you have to practice social distancing. That means to keep six feet away from people at all times.
Now I can only attend on line classes. Personally, I don't like online classes, because I can't learn as much by staring at a computer screen. Before the pandemic, I saw my friends every day at school, and we were hanging out at each other's houses. Now we have to stay at home, not being able to see each other. But we still find ways to stay in touch, by the Internet and smart phones. My parents often complain I'm on my phone too much chatting with friends. Maybe they are right. On weekends, I usually have virtual sleepovers with my friends on line. But before I can do that, I have to finish my math. So I'll see you next time.
Why do people have the great celebration for Beethoven's birthday? This outstanding composer's(作曲家) works continue to catch millions of people's attention even 250 years later. His pieces are played more often than those of any other composer. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (第九交响曲)influenced music listening in the 20th century. The playing time for a CD was set at 74 minutes because it would fit the longest recordings of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. This allowed people to enjoy the musical masterpiece on one CD.
Beethoven's Sixth Symphony has become the theme music of environmental activities because the work expresses a love of nature. Last November a concert was held in an elephant park in Thailand, where a pianist played passages from the work. The concert was part of the Beethoven Pastoral Project(贝多芬田园计划). The United Nations and others planned it to help promote (促进)climate protection
Who knows if Beethoven's music will be popular in the next 250 years? There is no doubt it will be enjoyed!
①Tomatina-Tomato Fight is a food fight festival holding on the last Wednesday of August each year in the town of Buñol in the Valencia region of Spain (西班牙巴伦西亚地区的布诺尔).
②It's said that one day, a small band playing music went through the street with pride. Maybe for fun, a group of young people picked tomatoes and threw to the players. This is the origin of the Tomatina- Tomato Fight.
③At this time of year, with local residents (当地居民), visitors from around the world gather in Bunol town , celebrate this exciting Festival. Here, the tomatoes bring not only happiness of harvest but the joy of carnival (狂欢).

Tens of thousands of local residents and tourists took off their T-shirts. As soon as they hear the order of fight, they begin to throw tomatoes to other people who they don't know before. The rules of the game are tomatoes must be pinched (捏)before handing to avoid hurting others. Of course, this would also help to make tomatoes even more sticky. Soon people are covered with red tomatoes. Tomato juice on the streets of town makes a tomato sea.
⑤Then ,Bunol town residents and thousands of volunteers open all the faucets (水龙头)could work, begin to clean the streets. About one hour later, the square and streets are swept as nothing has happened. Bunol City begins the usual quiet again.

I'm writing this letter to you from the part of Australia. The Australians have many British . That's why they're like us in many ways. Their family life is to ours, and they enjoy the same food and hobbies. The food and drink that most Australians like are grapes, lamb, ham and especially wine that they make in the south of the country. They love all sports, , football is the most popular. Most Australians live near the coast, so they also love to the beach, swimming and surfing. Although it's December, it's summer over here. The sunshine is very bright, and near the coast the countryside is very green.
If you do not use your arms or legs for some time, they will become weak. When you start (use) them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that!Yet many people do not seem to know that memory works the same way.
When someone says that he has good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance (become) strong. If a friend says that his (arm) and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault(错误). But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of (we) think that his parents may be to blame(应负责) and few of us know that it is just his own fault. There's a study showing some people can't read or write but usually they have (good) memories. This is because they (can) write something down in a small notebook, they have to remember all the things, so the memory is the whole time being exercised.
So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people: practice remembering the things in the same way other people do.
