Do you always focus (聚焦) on studying and getting "A" grades at school? Most Chinese students1really hard. But in the United States, they think socializing (社交)is as2as their grades. So,3do students socialize in the USA?
Lots of4often have soccer games. I5some of the soccer games to have fun with my friends. To my surprise, some American students went to the games. They cheered6the soccer players and had fun together.
Joining after-school clubs is also a7to socialize. One of my friends joined a sketch (素描) club. I was interested,8I joined the club. There I met lots of students who were also9in sketching. We soon10friends with each other.
In the US, a good student should have the ability to balance (平衡) his or her studying and socializing.
One day, Mr White told the class to get ready for a hobby show. All the students had the whole morning to get what they were going to show.
All the students came back on time except(除 了) Bob, the laziest boy in his classmates' eyes. It was very difficult to believe that such a boy could have a hobby. But to their surprise, Bob came back with many beautiful stamps in his hand. Mr White was very happy after watching them. However, Bob was going to take them back.
"Bob, you can't take them back until the others watch them this afternoon, said Mr White.
"But I'm sorry they are my brother's," he answered. "He doesn't want them to be out of our home for long. He's afraid that they will be lost."
"Bob, you should show your own hobby here, not someone else's." Mr White became a bit angry.
But Bob's following words made him even angrier."Mr White, it's true that I have a hobby. My hobby is watching my brother collecting stamps."

Dear Mrs. Smith,
I was a student of yours in Grade Six and I hope that you still remember me. I'm writing this letter because I want to let you know that the school year with you was important and special to me. I know I was very quiet in your class, and you never said much to me. But you did something that made a big difference in my life. You see, all through my first year in school, I hated to read. Books were full of words that had very little to do with me, and I was bored with them. I'll never forget the first day in Grade Six when you took out a book and began to read a story to our class. Your voice seemed to change with the people in the story, and you drew pictures in my mind as you read aloud. Since that day, I couldn't wait until after lunch when you would read to the class again. You read all kinds of wonderful stories to us.
During the summer after my year in your class, I missed hearing the stories you read. So one day, I picked up a book and read it all on my own. I found that I could make the words interesting, too. Now I love reading! Thank you for opening the world of books for me.
Yours,
Linda
Do you know how to make friends with a group of people? Let me tell you the steps about making friends with the group. Maybe it's helpful to you. .
First, you need to know what kind of group they are. If people of the group are shy, never ask them "Why don't you talk?" "Why are you quiet?" or "Why do you look shy?" They don't like such questions.
Next, remember that each group is different. They may use different words, like different things or have different ways of "hanging out".
Then, the important thing is that you should try to be outgoing( 性格外向的). If you are outgoing, you would become very popular. Remember, nobody wants to make friends with a shy person.
Finally, find a right topic to talk with the group. For example, you can talk with them about the weather, the news, their hobbies or their school life.
a. Know that each group is different.
b. Try to be an outgoing person.
C. Find a right topic to talk with the group.

A: It is one of the best schools in London and is larger than most schools in Nanjing.
B: Wow, tell me more about it. Is the school in the centre of London?
A: No. It has its own farm and a small cinema. We watch films there every weekends.
B: That's wonderful!
A: They were friendly and helpful.
B: What did you usually do after school?
A: Sometimes the teachers took us to museums and I like the British Museum best.
B: It's always my dream to visit the British Museum. But I'm not good at English.

This summer holiday, my parents took me to have a 7-day .
First, we had a trip to Qingdao. We went there by car. It took us five hours to get there. It is a beautiful seaside city. After having lunch in a restaurant, we travelled around the city resting for a moment. We went swimming in the sea, and climbed Laoshan Mountain. There were many on the mountain. When we got to the of the mountain, we were tired but we were happy. We three days in Qingdao.
In the following four days, we went on a trip to Beijing. First, we visited the Summer Palace. It is a very beautiful park. We enjoyed there. Then, we went to the Great Wall. There is a famous saying, "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man." It was hard for me to climb the Great Wall. Sometimes, I need my parents to me up , I got to the top of the Great Wall. And I became very excited. The Great Wall is enough for five horses to walk side by side. I even played games with my parents on it.
The total of the trip is about 4000 yuan. It's an experience that I will never forget.
