Kids hardly care about basic hygiene(卫生), and they share everything from drink to snacks. Similarly, kids should protect themselves from other kids with different kinds of infections(传染病).
Healthy eating helps to live a healthy life. Kids should pay attention to the eating habits. Encourage themselves to eat healthy food such as fresh fruit and vegetables. And eat different kinds of food at different ages. Kids should know junk food is bad for health and try to eat less junk food.
You can take different activities to teach kids the importance of staying healthy. Some simple reading materials can let the kids know about their bodies. Also, playing games about brushing teeth, having meals is very useful and funny for kids. Certain group games and activities or even funny street plays can also help the kids understand the importance of staying healthy.
Lake Baikal in Southern Siberia is the largest, deepest freshwater lake in the world. Every winter when the lake freezes (冻结) over for half the year, 80-year-old Lyubov Morekhodova straps (用带子系好) on the same ancient skates she's worn since the 1940s and glides (滑行) across the ice wherever she needs to go.
Lyubov has been using the ice to travel around her faraway home for her whole life. As a child, she skated about 2.5 miles each way to school and back. She once fell through the ice and was luckily saved by her classmates.
Now Lyubov lives alone in a small house on the shores of Lake Baikal. Her children and five grandchildren seldom visit her because they live five hours away by car. She has to look on a group of dogs, cows and chickens as her friends. Luckily, she has the ice to help her feel free! "For me, ice means being able to go anywhere and everywhere," the grandmother said.
Every day, she skates half an hour each way to the local village to do her shopping. With temperatures often reaching lows of-40 C, it's hard for an old woman to live a normal life! But Lyubov says that her daily skates are the secret to her long life span (寿命). "People keep telling me I should slow down, but I just can't!" She said with a laugh. "I don't have time to be bored; there's too much work to do."
①Lyubov is interested in skating a lot.
②Lyubov is a woman full of hope for life.
③Lyubov's daily skates are the secret to her long life span.
④Lyubov will skate more slowly in the future by following other people's advice.
Up to now, Wood has published more than 60 diaries, and he still updates the diaries frequently on social media websites. In his first diary, he mentioned, "News is going around about a bad cold virus in Wuhan, but I feel worlds away from me and few people wear masks in public."
He recorded in his diaries that thousands of medical workers from different provinces and cities went to Hubei to help with the anti-epidemic (抗疫). Restaurants and shops were closed down, while supermarkets checked people's body temperatures. And community workers across the country took strict action, asking people to stay at home and helping the old buy daily necessities.
"People in some countries said these measures could cause panic among the public. However, my experience in China shows these efforts are useful and effective, which finally removed people's fear," Wood said.
Wood's diaries soon attracted the world's attention. Over 10,000 people left him messages online, and he was interviewed by Canadian CTV which later showed his diaries on its website.
"I also received greetings from my family and friends in Canada. They said they were inspired by the efforts the Chinese have made," he said. "People from some countries thought the Chinese overreacted, and that the Chinese government had overdone in epidemic prevention and control. However, since more countries and regions have been infected (感染) by the virus, more and more people came to realize how proper and important China's control and prevention measures are."
Wood is working with the New World Press, which plans to make his diaries a book named The Invisible War. In this book, he hopes to share China's anti-epidemic experience with more people across the world so they can build confidence to fight against the virus.
