When we think of summer, most of us think of fun activities outdoors. So it seems easy to lose weight over the summer. In fact, though, it's quite possible for us to put on weight. The good news is that we can avoid these problems if we know these ways.
Here are some ways to keep summer weight away.
When we don't have a plan, it's easy to spend summer moving from bed to the computer. So it is necessary to make a work or study plan, like learning a new skill or working at a job.
Because we don't have to go to school, it's easy to sleep late, watch too much TV and eat more snacks as usual. So it's necessary to make sure your summer days follow a schedule -- getting up at the same time each day and eating meals as usual times.
Whenever you're free, find something special to do, like making a dinner for your family. But remember: limit your screen time, no more than two hours a day.
If it's too hot outside or you don't like going to a gym, you can do you exercise indoors. If you love being outdoors, try swimming, running or playing soccer in the early morning or evening. Anyway, don't let the heat stop your exercise plans.
Don't eat too much meat. Choose some fresh fruit. It's better to put your focus on talking with your family and friends, not on food. Also, don't eat too many frozen things like ice cream.
A. Beat the heat B. Make a work or study plan C. Think about what to eat D. Stay busy E. Put everything in a schedule |
Most of us have made an exercise plan, but only a few can follow it. WebMD(an American website) has listed the following tips for making exercise a habit in your life.
Remember, there's no rule that says you have to go to a sports centre or buy equipment like swimming suits. Many types of activities, such as push-up(俯卧撑), can be done whenever it is rainy or snowy. Just choose the activities according to your preference.
Don't go home first. Few people are so motivated(有动力的) that they will go out again and exercise after they go home and change clothes.
Tiredness is not an excuse. While exercising, you breathe deeply and your body makes better use of the oxygen exchange. Then, you will feel energetic. So, don't let your tiredness stop you from exercising your body.
You'll feel greater when your clothes fit better, you can lift heavier things or take exercise longer. There's something good too, like getting a good night's sleep or thinking more clearly.
Not everyone can start out with 10,000 steps a day. Use a pedometer(an equipment that tells your how far your have walked), and find out your daily steps. And then, try your best to walk 300 extra steps each day. Finally, you can reach 10,000 or even more steps a day.
A. Exercise after work B. Exercise at home C. Count your daily steps D. Do activities you enjoy E. Exercise even when you are tired F. Notice that you are better than before |

Learning Is Like a Journey
We can remember some important times in our lives. Some things have become good memories. The memories are always in the corner of our mind.
When I was in a kindergarten (幼儿园 ), I had many toys and friends. They made me laugh and cry. The teachers taught us many songs and games. We played all day. Although we did not know what learning was at that time, we were learning every day.
When I was in the primary school, I was excited to learn school subjects. Nearly every subject caught my attention. However, my favorite subject was science. I remembered on the first day our science teacher told us the sun was like a big fire ball. We were quite surprised and kept our mouths open. We began to wonder at the secret of nature. Later many other things came to our ears. We began to learn carefully.
When I was ten years old, I began to read newspapers, keep a diary, visit museum and make many friends. Every day was something new, interesting and exciting. Now I am in the middle school. Each day is new to me. Happily, I am still learning. It is like a journey to me. I have learned a lot, but there's still a long way for me to go. I hope to become a learned(有学问的) person someday.

Dear Mom and Dad,
How are you? I hope everything is okay. I'm doing well.
Here at Valley College, I'm very busy in my English classes at the ESL Center. My teacher says, "It's important to practice English outside the classroom." That's why I'm writing this email in English!
Sometimes I'm a little afraid to use my English, but people are usually nice. I speak English with others here in the dorm (宿舍) and the dining room.
I feel very comfortable here. This college has everything! It's like a small city. The student store is next to my dorm. There's a beautiful garden across from the student store. The health center is on the corner, across from my dorm. The sports center is on the corner of College Avenue and Garden Street. There are three coffee shops on College Avenue!
There is one thing the college doesn't have, Mom: your cooking!
Love, Sunny

Hopes, ambitions(抱负), dreams. How many of yours will you achieve? When you look back at your life in the future, will you have good memories of all the things that you did? Or will you regret all the things that you didn't do?
Of course, there's no easy road to success, but one thing is certain: success won't come if you don't do anything. So how do you do it? This four-step model will help you to make your dreams come true
Step 1:
What would you like to do? Write down all your ambitions. They may be very general, such as I would like to be fitter. I want to be famous or It would be nice to have more friends. Or they may be more specific, like I've always wanted to play a musical instrument.
Step 2:
Now you need to do two things:
1 Choose one or two ambitions. If you try to do everything, you won't do anything.
2 Set a time limit(限定). This is very important, because you will have a goal and you will also know when you have reached it.
So, for example, I would like to be fitter. in Step 1 now becomes I will be fit enough to join a half-marathon race by the end of August.
Step 3:
Now that you' ve made your choice, what are you actually going to do to achieve your goal? So, in our example, I will be fit enough to join a half-marathon race by the end of August. becomes I'm going to join a running club. or I'm going to go Jogging three times a week.
Step 4:
This is when you change your intentions(意图) into specific actions. Prepare to do something at a specific time. If you don't do this, your dreams and plans will just stay as dreams and plans. So now I'm going to join a running club. becomes I'm meeting the president of the Cheetahs Running Club on Monday evening at 5: 30
Don't let your ambitions die. Follow this four-step plan and make your dream come true
A. Change I would like to… to I will… B. Change I did… to I do C. How to be successful D. Change I'm going to…to I'm doing…on…at… E. Think about your ambitions F. Change I will...to I'm going to... |
That was a rainy day. I was looking for a job. I had no umbrella with me, for my old one was broken.
I sat down on the bus, finding a beautiful umbrella near my seat. I saw a name on the handle(把手) of the umbrella. Although I wanted to have a nice umbrella like that, I decided to find the owner by myself. Then I searched a telephone a telephone book for the name on the umbrella. I called and a lady answered," Yes. "She said in surprise. She was so excited when she knew that I forgot I was looking for a job and went directly to her small house. She took the umbrella, and her eyes were filled with tears.
The woman wanted to give me a reward(报酬), but l refused. We talked for a while, and I must have given her my address. I don't remember.
The next six months, I was poor. Before Christmas. I only had fifteen dollars which Peggy and I would need for food. I bought her a small tree, and we were going to decorate it that night. The doorbell rang and Peggy ran to open the door. Then I heard a man talking happily to her. He was a delivery (快递) man, and his arms were full of boxes. This is a mistake," l said.
When he left, Peggy and I opened the boxes. A huge doll, gloves, candies and a beautiful pair of boots… What a big surprise! I looked for the name of the sender. It was the woman!
How to Study For Exams
Taking exams is stressful, but you can make it easier by improving the way you study. Studying for your exams will keep you from feeling unprepared, and it will set you up for success!
This is easier said than done, but learning how to take good notes will help you once it comes time to study. Write down everything your teacher writes on the board or puts up in slides. Try to record as much of what the teacher says as possible.
Studying in a dark room is not recommended(推荐). Add lamps at night, or in the daytime,
open the window coverings (open the window a little, too). People tend to study and focus better in a brighter room with little noise.
Ask yourself: What is my teacher most likely to ask on the exam? What materials should I focus on to give myself the best chance of knowing what I need to know? This may help you focus on the most important information, rather than getting stuck on things that might not matter as much.
You need some time to have fun and it is better to study when you are feeling relaxed than to exhaust(筋疲力尽) yourself studying all day! Carefully structure your break and study time. Usually, 20-30 minutes of study and then a 5-minute break is the most effective method.
If you don't know the answer to the question, do the next one and come back to it at the end. Struggling and concentrating on a question you don't know the answer to can be time consuming(消耗), which makes you lose valuable marks.
A. Take breaks B. Take good notes C. Turn on the light D. Pay attention in class E. Think of your teacher F. Do the questions you know first |
