Are you a book-lover but feeling having not enough time to read? Don't worry. You can find out the solutions (解决方法) right here.

Firstly, don't read before bed. Most people keep their reading on their nightstand. If you read at night, you will probably only get through a few pages before you get sleepy. Instead, I suggest reading before work. Even if you're not an early bird, use the time you spend checking Wechat every morning to read some lines on the phone.

Secondly, make full use of the time when you're on the way to work. For example, if you take the bus or underground to work, you can use this time to read. A half-hour commute can easily turn into five hours of reading time every week—enough for most people to read a whole book.

Thirdly, _____________ Before you tell me how much you "enjoy the smell of the printed books", let me try to tell you the convenience (便利) of reading in the e-books app on your smart phone: you'll always have your "books" with you, and most importantly, you can always get through a little reading in those lost minutes of the day … waiting in line for coffee, during business breaks and so on. Those pages add up fast.

What's more, if a book sucks, stop reading it. You don't need to waste(浪费) time reading a book that is not good. In fact, it's more likely to make you quit your reading habit (习惯). Surely, you might think its necessary to finish a book you spent five painful hours to finish it, you can afford to put it down.

    1. (1) In the passage, the writer suggests people read _____________.
      A . in the morning B . at noon    C . in the afternoon D . in the evening
    2. (2) Which of the following sentences can be put in ____________ in Paragraph 4?
A . carry your books all the time B . paper books always come first C . read on your phone if possible D . read when you're having coffee
    3. (3) The underlined word "quit" in Paragraph 5 probably means _________.
      A . make B . correct C . enjoy D . break
    4. (4) The writer wrote this passage to ____________.
A . ask people to make a reading plan B . help people save time for reading C . advise people to read more e-books D . show people the importance of reading.

Thousands of years ago, stone was used to build many of the great cities. But in Mesopotamia, there was no stone for building. Yet one of the greatest kingdoms(王国) of the old world would be built there, and it would be built of brick (砖).

According to the Jewish Bible, the first people in southern Mesopotamia wanted to build a very tall tower to the sky. The Bible says that they "burned bricks in the fire. " Baked bricks, of course, are almost stone so the early Mesopotamians could build high buildings. Those early brick makers never built their tower to the sky, but they would go on to build cities of bricks. One of the cities they built became the ancient kingdom of Babylon.

Babylon, researchers say, was probably the largest city in the world in its day more than 200. 000. In the 18th century BC, Hammurabi was the king of Babylon. At that time he the laws (法律) he made and he is now still remembered by people because of the laws. After the death of Hammurabi, Babylon also began to die. The city was finally torn (拆毁) down by the Assyrians. But that was not Babylon.

In the 7th century BC, King Nebuchadnezzar began a project to build the city from brick again. From ancient texts, we learn that Nebuchadnezzar built huge buildings. In act, Babylon became famous  for its giant buildings, one of which was ninety meters high. Perhaps Nebuchadnezzar was trying to be famous like those people in the Bible. He actually did one thing people remembered his name. He had his name stamped (盖印) on every brick that build Babylon's broken walls again. Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom did not last long, though. First, the Persians , and then the Greeks. Finally, the desert sand covered Babylon.

Just south of Baghdad, Iraq, is what's left of the kingdom of Babylon. It is now just a lot of bricks, but they bring a lot to memory a great kingdom .
