One year, my family and I went on a long trip down south! It was a three-week vacation. We lived in Michigan. So it took us a very long time to drive to Florida. We stopped in Atlanta to visit my uncle. We kept going down to Orlando. We visited Disney there! We went to Magic Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. I really enjoyed all of the days we spent at Disney. We also went to see my dad's friend in Tampa Bay. Then we arrived in Florida.
It was December, but we still were outside and played baseball. We spent Christmas Day in our hotel. We brought some gifts with us to share with each other, and we had some warm days. One of my favorite of the trip was New Year's Eve. New Year's Day was one of my favorite holidays. This time, we could not visit any friends. But we watched an interesting movie Three Stooges! I still remember my family sat on the hotel's sofa and laughed so hard! And I will never forget the time I spent with my family.

Are you shy? If you are, you are not alone. In fact, about 50 percent of people are shy. Almost 80 percent of people feel shy at some points in their lives. Now, scientists have some interesting ideas about why people are shy.
Scientists say 15 to 20 percent of babies behave shyly. These babies are a little quieter than other babies. Interestingly, these shy babies usually have shy parents. Scientists believe some shyness is genetic (遗传的).
Family size may be another factor. Scientists at Harvard University found 66 percent of shy children had older brothers and sisters. These children were often bullied (欺负) by their brothers and sisters. As a result, they became shy. However, children with no brothers or sisters can be shy, too. Growing up alone. they often play by themselves. It's hard for them to develop social skills as children from big families.
You may also be shy because of your birthplace. In Japan, most people are shy. But in Israel (以色列) only one third of people are. In Japan, when people fail, they blame (贵备) themselves. In Israel, people often blame other things, such as family, friends, or bad luck.
For shy people, it can be difficult to make friends, speak in class, and even get a good job. But scientists say you can overcome your shyness. They suggest trying new things and talking with others more.
True friends are one soul in two bodies.
True friendship doesn't mean that when you need your friends' help, you will treat them to dinner, and when you have to protect yourself, you will put your friends in a difficult situation. On the contrary, true friendship is the communication of the hearts and understanding of the souls.
True friendship is like water, which is tasteless but is necessary to our body. Water is tasteless, but is of great help to satisfy (使满足) our thirst. True friends connect in hearts every minute.
True friendship is like medicine, though it tastes bitter, killing your illness. They criticize (批评) you to cool your head when others are praising you.
True friendship has nothing to do with fame, power, or money. They don't care what you are, but who you are. When you are happy, you are likely to forget them, but when you are in trouble, they are the first ones you will turn to for help.
True friends make you complete. Many persons accompany you, such as your parents and teachers. However, you still need friends. Without them, you are likely to feel deserted in spirit (精神) and spiritually unhealthy.
True friends stay in your heart, and try to bring out the best in you. Once you have found such a true friend, do cherish him or her.

Have a Great Vacation Without Parents
When you're on a vacation alone, it's easy to get homesick and want to go home. However, there are some steps for you to have a surprising vacation alone.
If you are too free, you may not feel happy. So finding something to do is so fun. It makes you sad if you miss your parents too much.
Hearing your parents' voices or getting a letter from them can make you keep happy. If you can send an email, that works, too.
Sometimes you can meet the most interesting people when away from home. You could meet a best friend or a new pen pal!
Talk to someone if you feel very sad. Your parents want you to be happy, your friends, too. No one wants you to be sad. Talking to someone can help make you feel better.
When you arrive home, don't tell your parents how much you hate your vacation alone. Talk about the good points of your trip. Tell them that you are happy about the vacation.
It was already half psst seven and I was running late. My wife, Eleanor and I agreed to 1 at a restaurant at 7:00.2 it was already 7:30 when I arrived. I said "Sorry” and told her I didn't mean to be 3.
"You never mean to be late. She answered. It was 4 that I made her angry. "sorry. " I said again. Then I told her about my 5 meeting. But my explanation (解释) seemed to make things 6. That started to make me angry, too.
Several weeks later, when I was 7 the thing to my father, he smiled, "You made a classic (经典的) mistake. Although you explained so much, the 8 was that you were late. You did a wrong thing. Then he told me the 9 way to say sorry to Eleanor.
“I see you are angry. You were 10 here for about 30 minutes and that's making you 11. I'm really sorry you had to be here to 12 for so long. All these words really worked. When I made Eleanor angry again, this way helped me win her smile.
When you did 13 that made someone angry, you should always start your words by telling 14your actions impacted (影响) the other person. Never try to find more 15to say why you did this.
To make her 100th birthday exciting and special, South African woman Harwood had a skydive (跳伞) in the air, skydive was not enough for her. She wanted to make it even more exciting by (do) a shark cage dive (潜水).
With the help of another person, she made the jump on Saturday near the north of Cape Town. 15 family (member) and friends in group of three were also in the air with Harwood. Wearing red jumpsuit (跳伞服),Harwood looked very young. She said it was (wonder) to see all the others around her. And this was her (three) skydive. She did her first when she was 92 years old.
Then, she decided (finish) her another wish——doing a shark dive. It was much more nervous than skydive, even young men were afraid of doing that. On that day, she (go) into a cage, and the workers put the cage in the water fish meat around it. When sharks smelt the fish, they would open (they) big mouths and eat the fish meat. It was really dangerous.

Dear Li Ming,
How's everything going? I'm worried these days because I'm quite different from my new classmates. I want to know if I can make friends here. As everyone knows, friends are important to us. Are you similar to your friends? What do you usually do together? How often do you do these activities? Can you share your ideas about friends with me?
Yours,
Alice
Dear Alice,
