The Azores, a necklace of nine attractive islands, lie in the middle of the Atlantic but are part of Portugal. Here's what to expect on the Azores:
Flores
Flores is the westernmost island of the Azores. Its name means flowers. There are seven lakes, including the forest green Lagoa Negra that sits right beside the bright blue LagoaComprida.
Corvo
With fewer than 500 inhabitants(居民), Corvo is the smallest and most lonely Azoreanisland. It's just four miles long and not even three miles wide. Still, this tiny island is a famous place for bird watchers, who come here especially in the fall, hoping to see yellow-billed cuckoos(杜鹃)and many other kinds of birds.
Faial
The island is famous for its paintings which are seen on the walls and floor of the port. Avillage is covered with volcanic(火山的) ash and other volcanic material many years ago. Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Center has exhibits(展览品)telling the stories of this and other volcanoes.
Pico
The almost 8, 000-foot-tall Mt. Pico, Portugal's highest peak, dominates the landscape on this island. It's the fertile, mineral-rich volcanic soil that has put Pico on every true wine lover's list. The Cooperativa Vitivinicola, a more than 70-year-old wine co-op in Madalena, the island's capital, offers informal tastings that include Verdelho, a crisp white produced from grapes native to this island.

Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita is an elite(精英)climber and has climbed Mount Qomolangma and Chogori (the second highest mount in the world). In 2016, she was chosen as Nation-al Geographic's Adventurer of the Year. Since the birth of her son, her climbing has taken a back seat, but she would like to set out to inspire him.
Pasang is a skilled climber, having climbed Mount Qomolangma and Chogori. But to get there she had to overcome unbelievable adversity, as in Sherpa culture climbing is viewed as amole activity. People would say she shouldn't be with men and climb that rock.
Then when she had her first child, Ei-chan Nurbu, she faced fresh challenges because she was cxpcctcd to stay at home and look after him as this was viewed as the mother's responsi-bility. It's difficult for her to balance(平衡)this with the climbing. But Pasang said that she wanted to inspire her son and show him that he should follow his dreams, so on his second birthday, November 14, 2019, she climbed Cholatse—a 6, 440-meter-high mountain in the Qomolangma region.
Pasang said, "I learned so many things from my mother. She was single. She raised two kids by herself. She never went to school. From her, I saw how a woman can be strong. I have big respect for all the mothers, because the mothers are very strong. They're always there for their children. They sacrifice (牺牲)their dreams for children. Everybody should have their dreams. Now, I'm a mother, but I'm still having my dreams. Everybody has a right to realize their dreams. Most importantly, want to inspire my son to follow his dreams. "

"The Mosquitofish is one of the 100 world's worst invasive(侵入的)species, and present methods to kill it are too expensive. It will take too much time to successfully control the spread of the Mosquitofish, "says Giovanni Polverino. "This global pest is a serious threat to many animals living in water. Instead of killing them one by one, we're presenting an approach that can inform better strategies to control this global pest. We made their worst nightmare become real: a robot that scares the Mosquitofish but not the other animals around it. "
In the presence of the robotic fish, Mosquitofish would stay closer to each other and spend more time at the center of the testing area. They were unwilling to swim to unknown waters. They also swam more crazily, with frequent and sharp turns, than those who haven't met the robot. They swam away from the robot and back to their living area. The influence of fear lasted. The scared fish were less active, ate more, and froze longer, presenting signs of anxiety that continued weeks after their last encounter(相遇)with the robot.
For the tadpoles(蝌蚪) the Mosquitofish usually hunt for food, the robot's presence was a change for the better. Tadpoles have poor eyesight. They don't see the robot well. Because the robot changed the behavior of the Mosquitofish, the tadpoles didn't have predators(捕食者) at their tails anymore and they were more willing to explore in the testing area. "It turned out to be a positive thing for tadpoles. Once freed from the danger of having Mosquitofish around, they were not scared anymore. They're happy. "
After five weeks of brief encounters between the Mosquitofish and the robot, the team found that the fish spent more energy towards escaping than reproducing. Male fish's bodies became thin.
"While successful at preventing Mosquitofish, the lab-grown robotic fish is not ready to be put into the wild, "says Maurizio Porfiri. The team will still have to overcome technical challenges.

Dear Selina,
Bus driver Harlan Jenifer was out at 3 am to drive his bus around Torres dale Avenue near Cottman in the Tacony neighborhood when he saw a tiny figure waiting at the bus stop. It was Annabelle, a 4-year-old little girl.
It was the wee hours(凌晨)of a rainy morning and Harlan was out to drive his SEPTA's56 bus on his regular route(路线). As usual, he picked up his passengers one by one. Of course, he had no idea that he would pick up a special passenger at this time in the morning. Just as he was about to pass a stop near the Tacony neighborhood, a woman passenger told him about a little girl she saw, all alone waiting at the bus stop. He stopped his bus and was shocked at what he saw. Wearing her purple raincoat, sleeping clothes, and her boots, little Annabelle was patiently waiting for the bus to stop so she could ride on it.
The bus driver could not believe his eyes. His passengers at the time were also shocked to see a tiny kid all alone in the rain at that moment. Seeing a child about the age of a preschooler at 3 am without any adult with her was surely a shock. Harlan was quite surprised and then it hit him. He had to do something to take the little girl safely back home.
He and the passengers on the bus tried to find out how this happened. As it turned out, Annabelle even walked 5 blocks in the rain before she reached the bus stop where she was found. Without hesitation, Harlan called the local police and told them of the little girl they found.
As Annabelle sat on the bus, the passengers comforted her and made sure she was okay. As the little girl sat with the other passengers, she shared her mission that early morning. "All I want is a slushie, "That was all she said. By the way, slushie is a frozen treat.
