As a new teacher at Doull Primary school in Denver, Kyle Schwartz thought of an easy way to know her third graders. Most of them came from 1 families. She asked them to complete the 2, "I wish my teacher knew…" and share something about themselves.

"Some notes are really heartbreaking (令人心碎的)," Schwartz tells ABC News. "I care much about each of my students and I don't want them to be poor forever," She says, "I hoped to know 5 I could better support them. So I 6 to let them tell me what I needed to know. That was why I created the fill-in-the-blank exercise. "

The third graders could answer anonymously (匿名地), most wanted to include names. And some were even excited to read their notes out loud, 7 one shy girl. She bravely said that she was lonely. "After she told the class, 'I don't have friends to 8 me,' I was worried what they would do," Schwartz tells Us Weekly. However, I felt happy to see how much support the other kids offered 9. They invited her to play after class and sit with them at lunch. You see, 10 have a special ability to help others. "

Last summer, Maria and her mother moved from their house in the countryside to a flat building in Chicago. Maria really liked some things about the city, but she missed her house and yard in the countryside.

One day, Maria was in her flat building when she noticed her neighbor, Mrs Garcia, carrying a gardening tool and a bag of soil. Maria wondered how Mrs Garcia was able to garden in the city.

"My mom used to grow the most delicious vegetables, and I know she misses her garden now that we don't have a yard," said Maria.

Mrs Garcia laughed. "I'll show you," she said.

Maria thought that Mrs Garcia would take her to the park, but she took her to the roof (屋顶). When the door opened, Maria was surprised to see rows of flowers and vegetables on the roof.

"What a wonderful garden!" said Maria.

Mrs Garcia told Maria that for a long time the roof was just an empty space. Then some of the people in the building asked the owners to turn it into a community garden. The building owners liked the idea because the plants not only helped to keep the air clean, but they also helped to keep the building cooler during warmer weather.

"I plant flowers in my own place," Mrs Garcia said, "but you would be surprised by how different the plants are up here. Some people grow vegetables just like your mom. You can do some of the same things in the city as in the countryside. You just have to be creative!"

Eat right food. A healthy meal is very important for everybody. Breakfast is the most important meal in a day. Doctors advise that students' breakfast should include fruit, eggs, milk, rice or noodles, because these can make them full of energy, help them listen carefully in class and keep them healthy. Eat enough for lunch and little for supper. But remember that too much sugar is bad for your teeth and blood (血液). You shouldn't have too many sweet snacks or desserts at your meal, even though such food tastes nice.

Keep off germs (细菌). Daily tooth cleaning helps a lot in keeping them off. Germs in the mouth are likely to enter the blood and make it easier for you to get sick. Also, wash your hands after going to the toilet or before having a meal. And you'd better clean both hands while washing them.
