As a first-time e-paper user, I am not sure if all the momentary pixelation (像素) is normal, the size is ideal for my new teenager. There are hardly any allowances and the kid seems enjoying the experience. The parental controls are, mildly put, inadequate. I would anticipate being able to define lock-down timings and limit usage duration for device targeted at kids.

This is such a lifesaver! My son reads books constantly. We were doing our best to buy books and use the library, but it was hitting our wallets hard. With the Kindle Free Time included with this Kindle kids edition, he has access to thousands of books. I get to set the age appropriate limits on the book access. As we live on a tight budget, it's great to have a one-year free subscription to Free Time.

Just received this device today and I'm ready to throw it out the window. Navigation is horrible and even customer service admitted that they don't know how to help. It's a nightmare trying to get your free subscription set up as they just keep redirecting you to set up a 30-day trial and be charged after. I will be cancelling everything and sending this back as soon as possible.

This is a reader's kingdle. We want our children to read-not play video games all day. From the moment we received this device as a gift, our kids had immediate access to 55 books that we had purchased through our Amazon account. Now they can carry around a whole library of books. Not to mention all of the free out of copyright material that is available.

Elon Musk isn't content with electric cars, shooting people into orbit and populating Mars. He also wants to get inside your brain.
His goal is to develop devices that can provide treatment to neural(神经的)diseases-and that may one day be powerful enough to put humanity on an equal footing with possible future super intelligent computers.
Not that it's anywhere close to that yet.
In a video Friday obviously aimed at seeking new employees, Musk showed off the second version of the Neuralink, a device about the size of a large coin. It's designed to be put in a person's head. An earlier version of the device has to be placed behind an ear like a huge hearing aid.
But the young company is far from having a commercial product, which would involve complex human trials and governmental approval. Friday's video showed three pigs. One, named Gertrude, had a Neuralink device in its brain.
Musk, a founder of both the electric car company Tesla Motors and the space-exploration firm SpaceX, has always been worried about that smarter AI machines will outwit humans. His solution? Link our brains to computers so we can keep up with or even win over them in intelligence!
Musk urged coders(程序员), engineers and especially people who have actually created a product to apply. "You don't need to have brain experience," he said, adding that this is something that can be learned on the job.
Connecting a brain up directly to electronics is not new. Doctors have already put similar devices in brains to treat such conditions as Parkinson's disease. In 2016, researchers reported that a man regained some movement in his own hand with a similar brain implant. But Musk's proposal goes beyond this. Neuralink wants to build on those existing medical treatments and work on devices that could link our brains to computers one day.
Language is the bridge that connects people everywhere. On April 20, people around the world celebrated the United Nations Chinese Language Day. To mark the occasion, the UN Office at Geneva, Switzerland, organized the first Chinese Language Video Festival (CLVF).
Participants from 27 countries, including the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, took part in the one-hour special event, sharing their passion for the Chinese language and culture through short videos. Over 340 video submissions (提交) told touching stories about a civilized, modern and youthful China through participants' personal experiences in the country.
Though some people find the language difficult to learn, most find it to be rewarding.
For M. Yousaf from Pakistan, learning Chinese gave him a better perspective (视角) and insight into the culture. "Learning Chinese is not just learning a language. It's a language of one of the biggest populations in the world,"Yousaf said. "If you know this language, you know the civilization and mind of the people."
Of course the language itself is unique, particularly considering it's tonal (音调的) foundation.
"Tones are important because a lot of Chinese syllables (音节) sound similar or even the same - the tone changes their meaning," said Mike Fuksman, an American living in Beijing.
Tо remember Chinese characters, you can connect them with pictures and make some short stories. Many people find it is important to use imagination when learning Chinese. For example, the Chinese character for "tea" has some lines of grass, the roof of a house and people drinking tea.
Learning any language comes with benefits, particularly for those who are always looking to learn more.
Since some languages have "loanwords (外来词)"from Chinese, it may be easier for one to pick up Korean or Japanese after studying Chinese. It helped me so much when I started learning Japanese," said Yerdana.
No matter how advanced technology gets, it can never be a substitute for good doctors and medical workers. During this year alone, health care professionals from all over the world have been putting themselves in a harmful way to treat COVID-19 patients. In times like this it is more important than ever that everyone has access to a doctor. But, according to statistics from the WHO, China has 19.79 medical doctors per 10,000 people (2017), the US has 26.12, and the UK has 27.86.
However, the rise of telemedicine allows doctors to make better use of their time and provides better health care access, especially for those in rural areas. Telemedicine is the remote delivery of health care services, including online consultations and diagnoses, and remote patient monitoring.
According to the World Economy Forum, nearly every other industry adopted widespread use of conference calls, and more recently, used video chats in order to cooperate remotely, while health care providers and patients both hesitated to adopt these tools to deliver health care. However, COVID-19 could push them to adopt the new approach. Having one of the best health care systems in the world, Switzerland already offers virtual video appointments for private patients, and with cloud computing, this care can go even further.
With patient data being stored in the cloud, medical records can be easily shared and updated by all health care providers when required. With the addition of powerful cloud networks, wearable technology, such as bracelets, can monitor a patient's key signs from their homes, removing the need for hospital care.
Seema, administrator of Medicare and Medicaid Centre, told the Wall Street Journal, "The arrival of telehealth has been just completely speeded, and it's taken this crisis to push us to a new frontier." Indeed, telemedicine will have a huge effect on medical care, allowing for more personalized treatment of patients after COVID-19 has relieved.
How to survive a stampede(踩踏事件)
At least 154 people were killed and more than 100 others injured in a stampede accident that occurred at Itaewon, Seoul, Korea, during a Halloween gathering, local authorities said early Sunday morning. What should we do in case of similar crowding and trampling accidents? Here are a few tips to increase the chances of survival in an incident.
Look for exits
If you are in a crowd, a first and most important thing is to make yourself familiar with your surroundings and mentally notice alternate exits. .
Keep an eye on the crowd
, as panic situations can often be expected. When in danger, a few seconds can make all the difference, giving you the possibility of taking advantage of your escaping route.
If you find yourself in the middle of a moving crowd do not fight against the pressure, do not stand still or sit down, because you could easily get trampled. Move in the same direction of the crowd keeping your hands up by your chest like a boxer — it gives you movement and protects your chest.
Protect your head
If you fall, get up quickly. , or if that is not possible, then cover your head with your arms and curl up into the fetal position (do not lay on your stomach or back, as this dangerously exposes your lungs).
Move diagonally (对角线地) towards the exit
After you're pushed forward, like in a wave there's a lull(间歇). In that lull is your chance to move, and the way you move is on a diagonal, between pockets of people. There's always space between people. A couple of steps sideways, another wave surge, then another couple of steps in the next lull. .
A. Avoid any choke points (阻塞点)
B. Keep pace with the crowd
C. Be aware of the general atmosphere of the crowd
D. You don't want to be knocked unconscious in this scenario (场景)
E. You work your way out that way till you get to the periphery (外围)
F. No matter where you are, make sure you always know how to get out
G. If you can't, keep moving by crawling in the same direction of the crowd

"I'm trying to get more and more people to 14 that there are solutions said Ms. Burdeyney, a trained nurse who is still working as a personal trainer after15. "I say there is no old16, there's only neglect (忽视). Don't stand 17, do something about it. "
Ms. Burdeyney18that she is hoping to do more for the research project. "I just want to bring19 into people eyes and this is just the 20. There is still a long way to go"

As a student, I have few opportunities to work owing my full schedule. But an activity called Farm Work Program left a deep impression on you. During the program, I had to get up early and did arranging farm work with my classmates. For example, we help water the plants and picked vegetables. While work, I realized how hardly it was to work with my own hands.
What happy it was to enjoy the fruits of my labor. At home where we can help our parents do some housework. We can help wash dishes before dinner. Remember that nothing can make us happy than seeing the results of our hard work.
