Mr. and Mrs. Green were very worried about their son, Leo. He seemed to be dumb (哑的)1he was normal in every other way. Mr. and Mrs. Green tried everything to get him to2, but with no success. When Leo was six years old, the best doctors in town examined (检查) him3, but could find nothing wrong.
And he seemed to be smart. It was just that he4spoke. "There might be something wrong with his5, and he doesn't know he's able to speak," one doctor said. "But he can read and write," said Mr. Green. "We've written him notes, telling him that he can speak." "It's certainly very6, " another doctor said. "Perhaps he'll be able to speak some day."
7 passed. Leo went to university. But he did not say a single (单一的)8.
Then one day, Leo was having a meal with his parents. Without any sign, he looked up from his9and said, "Pass me the salt, please." Mr. and Mrs. Green were excited. "You spoke! You spoke!" they cried, "Why did you wait so long to speak?" "I didn't have anything to say," he said. "Until now everything was perfect. But you 10to put salt in these potatoes."

Dear Debbie,
I'm not good at communicating with others, so my classmates don't like talking to me. When my best friend isn't there, I just sit at my desk quietly. I'm not good enough for anyone. I just want to die. My parents think I'm fine, and I don't want to worry them. But I started crying in class today. What should I do?
Amy
Dear Amy,
I was like you four years ago. I think we live in a world where we often compare ourselves with others. I think you should really look at yourself in the mirror and try praising(表扬) yourself. It helped you love yourself more. You know, almost everyone experiences those feelings many times in their lives. Surprised? But it's true.
Many people think you are good enough. I am one of them. I am sure your parents and your friends feel the same. Go outside and try to hang out with people. Make small steps.
Lastly, talk with a psychiatrist(心理医生). And trust your psychiatrist. If you can't trust him or her, then you may get the wrong person. Find another one.
I say these things because I was in your shoes once. I was ready to die. But years later, I'm here and talking to you about it. Don't give up.
Debbie
A few months ago, a friend of mine saw the housework chart(表格)in our home for the first time and talked with one of our girls.
"I think you are all great helpers for your mom."
"Yeah, Mom and Dad have so many kids, so they don't have to do anything."
That's right, my children. You now know your place in the family. Snacks and TV, here I come! I don't need to clean a thing in my house. Most of this is because I have older kids now.
We put our chores into two groups: everyday chores and paid chores. Here are everyday chores in our home: clear the table and chairs, do the dishes and sweep the floor after each meal and take out the rubbish. We also pay our kids to do chores. These chores are usually our weekly cleaning tasks, such as washing the car and cleaning the living room.
We don't usually give them lots of instructions(指示)before they do the chores. They can find out how things work themselves. As they have more experience, we ask them to do better. And we're glad they can look after themselves.
You need to away from the computer.

As a young child, I used to be quiet and shy. I was also sick for a long time. My parents had to work, so I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' home. While my grandmother cleaned the house and cooked, my grandfather played with me.
was six when my grandfather passed away. A few months before he died, he gave me a beautiful blue and white blanket (毯子). I loved the blanket very much because it made me think of my grandfather. But after a few years, the blanket didn't look very good. It had holes(洞) and was dirty. I didn't want to throw the blanket away, so my mother made the blanket into a book bag. I was proud of the book bag, and I used it to carry my books to school every day for a few years. Then the book bag was broken. I asked my mother to make something out of it. She made it into a pencil-box. After a few months, the pencil-box was broken, too. By then I could sew(缝), and I made the pencil-box into a small wallet.
I used it for three years, but one day I lost it. I felt sad. My friends and family said, "Forget about it, Paul. You can't make something out of nothing."
I thought about it for a while. I thought my friends and family were wrong. There was a way to make something out of nothing. So I wrote down the story of my grandfather's blanket.

I have a lot of problems recently. First, I'm not happy in class. I'm so shy that I'm afraid of speaking in class. Secondly, I argued with my best friend. I'm very worried because I have few friends. I don't want to lose her. Thirdly, I feel nervous as the exams are coming. And even I can't sleep well at night.
Yesterday, my mother took me to the doctor. I told the doctor my problems and he gave me some advice. He asked me to make more friends who look friendly and play games in the free time, so that I'm not shy. He also said, "If you don't want to lose your best friend, you should talk with her. Tell her what you think and you are the best friends again." Because I can't sleep well, he asked me to eat some healthy foods for sleep. And he asked me to relax. I'm trying to follow his advice.
