Fun Activities for Children That Are Stuck Inside
Make Your Own Clothes
There are plenty of things you can do to improve your regular clothes. While you might want to use a cheap white T-shirt, there's so much you can do to it. You can use tie-dye, spin art, or fabric markers to create your own unique clothes. All of the other students will be jealous that their parents aren't as fun as you!
Bring the Outdoors Inside
Something a lot of kids like to do, even if it's just in the yard, is camping. It's a good way for children to enjoy something out of the usual while they're also using their imagination. So, if you're in a situation where you're stuck inside, bring the feeling of camping indoors. You can do this by setting up a real tent. You can also make traditional camping food inside to really feel like you're out in the wilderness!
Have an Indoor Treasure Hunt.
If you are having a treasure hunt, whether it's inside or outside, you and your young ones are sure to have fun. Choose items (物品) around your house and write them down as a list on a piece of paper. Then, let your little ones run around the house to see who can collect all of the items first. Don't forget to give the players a special prize once they have found all of the items.
Fingerprint Art Is Always a Hit
One of the extremely popular arts to do inside is known as fingerprint art. Children put their fingers in paint and place them on a piece of paper. They can then draw on and around their fingerprint to create whatever they feel like. Furthermore, there are also books on how to make a variety of fingerprint art in the form of animals that could be fun for children to learn as well!
The introduction of the iPad, with its touch screen technology, has allowed even very young children to take advantage of a computer. So what if all children in a school were given an iPad to use in class and take home with them?
Anne Laure Bazin works in a school where every child, teacher and teaching assistant is given a free iPad to use in and out of lessons. For her, the main advantage of everyone having an iPad has been the improvement in communication. Documents can be emailed straight over to workmates during a meeting. Children submit their homework by email, or through the school's learning environment. Teachers now take the register using their iPad, which means that there is a centralized record of which children are in school, and which classroom they are in.
The use of iPads has encouraged greater sharing of resources among teachers. All communication with parents is now done by email. Working as a group in class is much easier as children can share documents. The whole class can look at one child's work by attaching the iPad to the whiteboard. If a child has forgotten the textbook, the teacher can take a photograph of the relevant (相关的)page and send it to the student in class.
While the use of the iPad in schools has revolutionized (变革) the way children are taught, it hasn't completely replaced more traditional methods of teaching. Worksheets are still used in class as some children prefer the contact with paper. The children all have a textbook and exercise books. In Anne Laure's school, parents feared that the iPads would replace exercise books and children would lose handwriting skills. Anne Laure says," The teachers are not ready to let go of the traditional style of teaching. We have welcomed the iPads in so much as they help communication and widen the resources available but we are not ready to let go of paper yet. The children themselves still value their exercise books and depend on them for revision."
The UK has a well-respected higher education system and some of the top universities and research institutions in the world. But to those who are new to them all, sometimes they can be confusing.
October is usually the busiest month in the college calendar. Universities have something called Freshers' Week for their newcomers. It's a great opportunity to make new friends, join lots of clubs and settle into university life.
However, having just left the comfort of home and all your friends behind, the prospect (前景) of meeting lots of strangers in big halls can be nerve-wracking (令人焦虑不安的). Where do you start? Who should you make friends with? Which clubs should you join?
Luckily, there will be thousands of others in the same boat as you worrying about starting their university social life on the right foot. So just take it all in slowly. Don't rush into anything that you'll regret for the next three years.
Here are some top tips from past students on how to survive Freshers' Week!
Learn rules. Make sure you know British social etiquette (礼节). Have a few wine glasses and snacks handy for your housemates and friends.
Be kind. Sometimes cups of tea or even slices of toast can give you a head start in making friends.
Be sociable. The more active you are, the more likely you'll be to meet new people than if you're someone who never leaves his room.
Bring a doorstop. Keep your door open when you're in and that sends positive messages to your neighbours that you're friendly.
So with a bit of clever planning and effort, Freshers' Week can give you a great start to your university life and soon you'll be passing on your experience to next year's new recruits.

It is a quieter mode(方式) of transportation as well, so you might even be able to take a picture. When you are on the beach, you can breathe that clean air and view the beauty of the water and sand. It is a totally different experience from either simply sunbathing or passing it in a car.
There are many choices of hiring a bicycle to experience the Gold Coast attractions. There are stores that will fit a bike perfectly to your size. These bikes for both adults and children are in many styles and colors to please any taste. If you have ever wanted to try a tandem bike(双人单车), now is your chance, because they have those too.

Let's Live a Healthy Life
About a half-mile behind our Minnesota farm lay a pond. In summer, my brother Harry and I would run through a stand of oak trees to skip stones there. The pond wore a collar of black mud. It was not a place for swimming.
In late summer, the pond would be covered by a green and bubbly scum(起泡的浮渣). Sometimes a strong, unpleasant smell rose from it. We stayed away.
When winter came, the pond was once again an inviting place. One day when ice covered it, Harry said to me, "Try walking across." The ice looked solid. No water showed through it, but I hesitated. "Go ahead." Harry urged. "Try it. You're lighter than I am. If the ice holds, we can run and slide carefully on it. It'll be fun." I wanted to please Harry, and I thought about the fun of a long slide on the ice. I began to slide across the pond.
In the middle of the pond, the ice gave way with a sudden crack(裂缝)! I stretched out(伸展) my arms. The next thing I knew I was hanging on to the edge of a hole in the ice by arms outstretched on the ice. From my shoulders down I hung in icy water. I thought of the bottom of the pond. I knew it would be black and awful down there, full of mud and maybe rotting creatures.
I tried to climb out of the hole, but when I got a knee on the ice, it broke like window glass. Again and again I tried to get out. Again and again the ice broke into pieces. The hole widened. I was wearing a coat of heavy material. As it became completely wet, it dragged me down. I was tired of the struggle and rested with my arms stretched out on the ice.
I looked at Harry on shore. He seemed rooted to the spot. "I can't get out!" I screamed when I caught some breath.
