Our regular greeting is kissing on each other's faces, also between people who have only just met. We often shake hands at work. The lifestyle expert Philippe says, "Simply looking into a person's eyes is good enough now." Maybe it helps, I'm not quite sure. 4-18 09:46 597 |

We are asked to stop the traditional nose-to-nose greeting. The experts also say that we shouldn't shake hands any more or kiss. We are suggested to wave only. I'm sure it can reduce the risk but I'm afraid we won't keep close relationship one day. 4-18 09:46 489 |

We share chimarrao(马黛茶)among a group of close friends. The tea is passed around in a cup with a metal straw(吸管)and everyone takes turns drinking from it. But the government has announced that we shouldn't share straws to drink the tea. Is it necessary? 4-18 09:51 149 |

These days, a video has become popular showing three friends meeting, hands in their pockets and two of them are wearing masks, tapping(轻叩)their feet against each other as a greeting. Simple and funny! We shake hands traditionally. 4-18 09:52 263 |
Yang Qian, 22, won the first gold of the Tokyo Olympics. She looked very quiet in the women's 10-meter air rifle (气步枪) final and won the prize.
The young student from Ningbo, Zhejiang Province is studying at Tsinghua University. She became popular quickly.
The encouraging performance made Yang become a popular star. Her personal Weibo account has attracted rapidly hundreds of thousands of new followers so far.
Yang helped Tsinghua win more praise for its sports program, which joins higher education and sports training together to develop student players in the likes of shooting, basketball and so on, outside the country's traditional state-run sports system.
Tsinghua's first shooting team was set up in the 1950s. After a long break, shooting was restarted in 1999. They find student players from high schools, ordinary schools and sports colleges. The program has always trained sharpshooters for the national team, including Yi Siling, who won China's opening gold of the 2012 London Olympics, also in the women's 10-meter air rifle.
Yang Qian's action made people show more interest in the games. The Tokyo Olympics were put off from 2020 because of COVID-19. Yang wore a face mask, but her smiling eyes on the podium (领奖台) and the shape of a heart made with her arms have touched people around the world.
"We trained how to do well under pressure," Yang told reporters. "The game was really tight today, but I was so relaxed that I could win," She said.
Gao Jing, a coach at Tsinghua, said, "Yang is brave and clever and she isn't afraid of pressure. She has innate talent for shooting and she keeps training hard."
"She keeps up with the strict study in Tsinghua. She trains hard and always competes in my team. She is strong inside, so she could win the prize," said Gao.
Jason and his father were going to the grocery store by car to pick up some apples. It had been an unusual day. The sky was dark but there were few clouds. As they drove up the street, there started to be a rumbling (隆隆的) sound heard across the ground.
Jason's father immediately realized that a tornado (龙卷风) was coming. He stopped the car and told Jason to get out immediately. Jason and his father got out of the car and made their way to the closest building. By this time the wind was blowing harder, and it was hard to see or hear. Debris was falling all over the place. Jason couldn't see his dad anymore. He also realized that he wasn't getting to the building fast enough. He was afraid he would be picked up by the wind and thrown into the air.
As he made his way towards the building, he noticed a field to his right. He could see an irrigation ditch (灌溉渠). In a panic, he scrambled (爬) to the ditch and lay flat on the ground. More debris and objects flew over head. His heart was beating hard, and he was nervous. He had never been in a tornado before.
After a while, the winds died down and the loud roaring sound was gone. Jason slowly lifted his head and nervously looked around. What he saw was a great mess. Jason could hardly recognize the building in front of him because of all the damage.
He stood up with shaky legs and walked to the building. Once there, he pushed the door open and went inside. It was a public building owned by the city. It was empty, but Jason could hear noises further inside. He walked into the large room and saw his dad. He ran across the room and gave him a big hug.
"Jason! How are you? I've been worried sick about you!" said his father," I couldn't find you anywhere!"
Jason breathed a sigh of a relief (松了一口气) and sat down. He did have a story to tell!
①Jason nervously looked around from the irrigation ditch.
②Jason ran across the room and gave his father a big hug.
③Jason got out of the car.
④Jason noticed a field to his right.
Wind power is a very clean source of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills (风车) spin. When the windmills spin, they make electricity. Then we can use the electricity.
A lot of people think that wind power is new, but that's not true. For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water. We still do those things today, but these days we mostly use wind power to make electricity.
Wind power is a very popular source (来源) of energy. Most people think that we should use it more and more. First of all, it's clean. Windmills don't pollute the environment at all. Second, we can use wind power forever. After all, we will always have wind. Also, wind power is cheap, and it's getting even cheaper.
A lot of people don't understand wind power very well. They believe that there are problems with wind power, but many of those problems are not real. For example, some people say that windmills are dangerous for birds. They used to be true, but it isn't true anymore. Old windmills killed birds because they spun very fast. New windmills spin slowly, and they aren't dangerous for birds.
However, there are real problems with windmills. One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly. This is a problem for people, because windmills are often in very pretty areas. Also, wind doesn't blow all the time, so we can't use wind power all the time. Finally, windmills are noisy.
Wind power is becoming more and more common. Right now, more than 80 countries use wind power. About 2.5 percent of the world's power comes from the wind. For some countries, that number is a lot higher. Wind power gives Denmark more than 25 percent of its electricity.
Hopes, ambitions(抱负), dreams. How many of yours will you achieve? When you look back at your life in the future, will you have good memories of all the things that you did? Or will you regret all the things that you didn't do?
Of course, there's no easy road to success, but one thing is certain: success won't come if you don't do anything. So how do you do it? This four-step model will help you to make your dreams come true
Step 1:
What would you like to do? Write down all your ambitions. They may be very general, such as I would like to be fitter. I want to be famous or It would be nice to have more friends. Or they may be more specific, like I've always wanted to play a musical instrument.
Step 2:
Now you need to do two things:
⒈ Choose one or two ambitions. If you try to do everything, you won't do anything.
⒉ Set a time limit(限定). This is very important, because you will have a goal and you will also know when you have reached it.
So, for example, I would like to be fitter. in Step 1 now becomes I will be fit enough to join a half-marathon race by the end of August.
Step 3:
Now that you've made your choice, what are you actually going to do to achieve your goal? So, in our example, I will be fit enough to join a half-marathon race by the end of August. becomes I'm going to join a running club. or I'm going to go Jogging three times a week.
Step 4:
This is when you change your intentions(意图) into specific actions. Prepare to do something at a specific time. If you don't do this, your dreams and plans will just stay as dreams and plans. So now I'm going to join a running club. becomes I'm meeting the president of the Cheetahs Running Club on Monday evening at 5: 30
Don't let your ambitions die. Follow this four-step plan and make your dream come true.
A. Change I would like to… to I will… B. Change I did… to I do C. How to be successful D. Change I'm going to…to I'm doing…on…at… E. Think about your ambitions F. Change I will...to I'm going to... |
Emily appeared on the stage. She took a deep breath and began to1. Now she was Portia, a strong–willed2in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. The theater was filled3people. She was speaking with a power she had never experienced before, the words flowing4from her.
In fact, Emily had never acted as such an important part in her life before the audition (试镜). She hated being in front of other people. She was very5at school. She had never thought she was good enough at anything to6much attention. She stayed mostly to herself, making few friends. She had excellent grades, 7she always thought that something was missing.
Two weeks before the audition, Emily's mother had heard about it and encouraged8to join in.
"I can't think of anyone else better suited to9the part. Remember all the plays you used to act out for us?"
Her mother wouldn't let the matter drop. "You're just a little scared. Everyone gets scared. You know you10do it. The trick is to look past the11to find the love of what you're doing."
So Emily had made an appointment (预约) with the head of the Drama Club. She had read the play and found herself excited by the idea of speaking such12words. In secret she practiced Portia's part, 13 the lines by repeating them over and over. It wasn't hard; she loved every minute of it. Every time she spoke the words, she had a new14of the lines, as if Shakespeare had written Portia on many levels.
On the day of the audition, she performed two of Portia's famous speeches for the auditors. When she had finished, the head of the Drama Club announced the15was hers.
When you were very young, you liked to play with your friends. Did you find that playtime was always more fun when everyone (share) the toys? Everyone got a turn. No one was left out.
That's a life lesson that changes as you get older. The idea of sharing has new meaning.
As you grow up, you begin to understand that others have less than you do. When you "have" things, you should help those "have less" than you do.
You can share with people in some ways. You can give them some of your money. You can share things you don't use any longer, such as old clothes and (toy). You can give them away to people without enough money (buy) them. Besides, you can help people by giving your time.
The last one (call) volunteering. Volunteering is about giving your time. You can take part activities to help others. Every year, many thousands of volunteers in the world give (valuable) gift of all, their time.
Actually, volunteering isn't just about giving. You will also meet different people, get different experiences and learn important skills. A few hours in volunteering now will (possible) help you in the future. That's there is always a saying—The roses in her hand , the flavor(香气) in mine.
—Yeah, but it's too expensive. I can't a it.
