No one is born a winner. People make themselves into winners by their own efforts.
I learned this lesson from a(n) 1 many years ago. I took the head coaching job at a school in Baxley, Georgia. It was a small school with a 2football program.
It was a tradition for the school's old team to play 3 the new team before spring practice ends. The old team had no coach, and they didn't even practice to prepare for the game. Being the coach of the new team, I was excited 4 I knew we were going to win, but to my disappointment we failed. I couldn't believe I had got into 5 a situation. Thinking hard about it, I came to 6 that my team might not be the number one team in Georgia, but they were 7 me. I had to change my attitude about their ability and potential(潜力).
I started doing anything I could to help them build a little 8. Most importantly, I began to treat them like 9. That summer, when the other teams enjoyed their 10, we met every day and practiced passing and kicking the football.
Six months after suffering our failure on the spring practice field, we won our first game and our second, and continued to 11. Finally, we faced the number one team on the field. I felt that it would be a victory for us even if we lost the game. But that wasn't what happened. My boys beat the best team in Georgia, giving me one of the greatest 12 of my life!
From the experience I learnt a lot about 13 the attitude of the leader can influence the members of a team. Instead of seeing my boys as losers, I pushed and 14 them. I helped them to see themselves 15, and they built themselves into winners.
Winners are made, not born.

"Humans can develop certain abilities(能力) we aren't born with by practicing animals' movements, " the traditional Chinese Kungfu lovers believed in the past and still do today.
Chinese Five-Animal Exercises, also known as Wuqinxi, are the first complete set of qigong exercises following the movements of animals: monkeys, deer, birds, bears and tigers. They were created by one of the greatest doctors in Chinese history, Hua Tuo, more than 1, 800 years ago.
The Five-Animal Exercises are well-designed to help blood circulation, and let the energy go smoothly in the body so as to improve health.
"The bear movements are good for the stomach. The tiger movements can reduce the pain in the back. The deer movements help reduce the fat around the waist. The bird movements can help keep our knees healthy and the monkey movements can be good for the heart, " said Hua Yi, the 59th inheritor(继承人) of Wuqinxi.
For those new learners, the first few exercises might not go well. You may find it hard to focus. Wear comfortable clothes, keep peaceful in your mind, try to move slowly... Little by little, you'll feel more and more harmonious with nature. You may even feel you become a tiger or a deer, walking in the forest freely.
These exercises need no tools and they are easy to learn. You can search online for the videos and practice them at any time when you feel like relaxing your body and mind. It's fun to practice and good for health, so Five Animal Exercises are becoming more and more popular in recent years, not only in China, but also in many other places of the world.
"All right then—just one more piece. . . " Words every girl has said when they are faced with the delicious cheesecake. Of course, many of us know we may eat the whole thing in the end.
It isn't just girls. Most of us find it hard to say "no" to something nice. However, scientists now say that willpower (意志力) is very important to success and a happy life.
Scientists in different countries have been studying the influence of willpower on people's lives for a long time. In one experiment, scientists told young children that they could either have a candy now, or two candies in 15 minutes. Waiting of course needed more willpower. Scientists then continued studying the children as they grew up. They wanted to see if some children always had stronger willpower. They also wanted to see how having stronger willpower influenced their lives.
Years later, scientists found that the children who had waited for two candies were all healthier, happier and richer adults. However, the children who had shown weaker willpower at that young age were more likely to be in low-paid jobs, to be overweight, to have social problems.
But there is hope, Roy F Baumeister, an American social expert said that you could train your willpower just like you train your muscles (肌肉). You could start by making yourself stand up straight, speaking in complete sentences, or using a computer mouse with the other hand. Of course, don't try to do too many things at the same time, or when you don't have enough energy, for example, when you are ill. If you already feel tired, you can try to find your willpower back with a good night's sleep and by eating well.
① setting a goal every day ② having a good rest and eating well
③ practicing in a proper way ④ avoiding using willpower too much
After my father left us, my mother had to go back to work to support our family. Once I came out of the kitchen, complaining. "Mom. I can't peel potatoes. I have only one hand. "
Mom never looked up from her work. "You get yourself into that kitchen and peel those potatoes, " she told me. "And don't ever use that as an excuse for anything again!"
In the second grade, our PE teacher lined up my class on the playground and had each of us race across the monkey bars, swinging(摆动)from one high steel rod to the next. When it was my turn. I shook my head. Some kids behind me laughed and I went home crying.
That night I told Mom about it. She hugged me and I saw the "we'll see about that" look. The next afternoon, she took me back to school. At the empty playground, Mom looked carefully at the bars. "Now, pull up with your right arm. " she advised. She stood by as I struggled to lift myself with my right hand until I could hook the bar with my other elbow(手肘). Day after day, we practiced, and she praised me for every rang(横档)I reached. I'll never forget the next time, crossing the rungs, I looked down at the kids who were standing with their mouths open.
One night, after a dance at my new junior high. I lay in bed crying. I could hear Mom come into my room. "Mom. "I said, crying sadly, "none of the boys would dance with me. "
For a long time, I didn't hear anything. Then she said. "Oh, honey, someday you'll be beating those boys off with a bat. " Her voice was weak and trembling. I peeked(偷看) out from my covers to see tears running down her face. At that moment, I knew how much she suffered because of me. She had never let me see her tears.

A powerful organization in the USA called the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF)
made a decision to send up hundreds of satellites(卫星) into low Earth orbit (轨道) in 2018 in order to give free Wi-Fi to everyone on earth.
This is because they have made a survey and found that only 60% of the world's population have been able to get information on the Internet. And this is also because many countries can't offer people the necessary infrastructure (基础设施) to access the web.
