When I was in primary school,I fell in love with reading. The books brought me 1 a wonderful world. The more I read, the more I wanted to know. However,my parents 2 afford so many books. I had to solve the problem myself.
There was a book shop near my home. One day I walked into 3 shop and picked up a book. I didn't know whether I could read there without buying any books. To make sure I wasn't noticed,I just read a few 4 and then put it back. Luckily,no one noticed me. After that,I went there to read every day. Several days later, while I was reading, the owner came up and asked, "You like reading? " I looked down and replied 5 , "Yes. " "Don't worry," he said with a smile. "You may read books here 6 you help me clean the shop. " I felt surprised. "Really? It's so kind of you!" I was very happy that I 7 to read there. From then on,I spent a little time cleaning the shop. After that,I quietly read there. That way,I read lots of books. I became one of8 students in our school. I even won some prizes in writing.
Now I am studying in high school,I can borrow books from the library. My hobby of reading is kept. It will make a big difference to my life.
"BANG!" I shut the door. We were both in great1. "Never set foot in this house again!" shouted Father. With tears(眼泪) in my eyes ,I2out of the house and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining, causing my feeling of3. I walked about and couldn't help crying,knowing4to go.
When I am growing up,dad is getting old. We are just two persons coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is a door between us that can5be opened. I walked in the streets. There were fewer and fewer people. When I finally reached the apartment in which I lived,I saw that the light was still on. I thought to myself, "Is Father waiting for me or is he still6me? "
In fact,it was nothing. Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps. Perhaps he thought they were7. I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps. All the lights were off except father's.
Dad was always like this. He has been a leader for so long that he always8everyone else what to do. Maybe he didn't know how to9himself. After shouting at me,he never showed any moments of regret. However,he has the habit of tucking me in(给……盖被子) while I am sleeping.
The light was10on. "Am I wrong? " With the key in hand,I was as nervous as I had ever been. At last,I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door,tears11down my face. I suddenly realized that the12that I had imagined between us did not exist(存在) at all. Love is second to none.
Free to be yourself
When a fat woman took the seat beside me on the plane,I felt uncomfortable. She had to make herself lower slowly, pushing her heavy body into the small space.
"My name is Kelly. I'm Canadian. are you from? " She waved her hand quickly in front of my face. "China," I said as I (shake) her hand unwillingly(不情愿). When the drinks and meals (serve) by the air hostess, she made sure that I had enough room in my seat.
"I don't want (make) you uncomfortable with my elephant size!" she said truly. As we talked,I was surprised by her wise (word). She had read so many books. I think she was really knowledgeable lady.
I asked her if she ever thought about (lose) some weight. "Aren't you worried the illnesses that come with being overweight(超重)? " "Not at all. I eat (healthy) and walk regularly(定期,经常). " she said. "I believe,in my heart, the people who get ill are the ones who worry. So you are free to be yourself. "
I suddenly realized that Kelly was (beautiful) and cleverest woman I had ever met in my life. I always remember her words, "You're free only if you're comfortable with who you are!"

"How are you? " is a nice question. It's a friendly way that people in the USA greet each other. But "How are you? " is also a very unusual question. It's a question that often doesn't need an answer.
The person who asks "How are you? " hopes to hear the answer "Fine",even if the person's friend isn't fine. The reason is that "How are you? " isn't really a question and "Fine" isn't really an answer. They are simply other ways of saying "Hello" or "Hi".
Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks "Do you agree? ",the other person might think, "No,I disagree. I think you're wrong. " But it isn't very polite to disagree so strongly,so the other person might say "I'm not sure. " It's a nicer way to say that you don't agree with someone.
People don't say exactly what they are thinking when they want to finish talking with other people. For example, many talks over the phone finish when one person says "I've got to go now. " Often, the person who wants to hang up gives an excuse: "Someone's at the door. " "Something is burning on the stove. " The excuses might be real or not. Perhaps the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt the other person.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an idea,or finishing a talk, people don't say exactly what they are thinking. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it's part of the game of language.

Wind power is a very clean source(来源,出处) of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills(风车) spin(旋转). When the windmills spin, they make electricity. Then we can use the electricity.
A lot of people think that wind power is new,but that's not true. For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water. We still do those things today, but these days we mostly use wind power to make electricity.
Wind power is a very popular source of energy. Most people think that we should use it more and more. First of all,it's clean. Windmills don't pollute the environment at all. Second,we can use wind power forever. After all,we will always have wind. Also, wind power is cheap, and it's getting even cheaper.
A lot of people don't understand wind power very well. They believe that there are problems with wind power, but many of those problems are not real. For example, some people say that windmills are dangerous for birds. They used to be true, but it isn't true anymore. Old windmills killed birds because they spun very fast. New windmills spin slowly,so they aren't dangerous for birds.
However, there are real problems with windmills. One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly. This is a problem for people, because windmills are often in very pretty areas. Also, wind doesn't blow all the time,so we can't use wind power all the time. Finally, windmills are noisy.
Although there are several problems, wind power is becoming more and more common. Right now, more than 80 countries use wind power. About 2. 5 percent of the world's power comes from the wind. For some countries, that number is a lot higher. Wind power gives Denmark more than 25 percent of its electricity.
