Summary:

School Day was held successfully on April 6h. Twenty—four student helpers from Grade 8 were divided into four groups of six. Each group had a task to raise money for the disabled. 

All of groups performed well on School Day and received praise from the visitors. 

In short, our School Day went well and we got no poor opinions from the visitors. 

Feedback(反馈):

Opinions from 100 students have been collected. Most students thought the activities were good. However, some students thought the prices of the school postcards were a little too high.

Look at the panda! It looks like an astronaut. It wears an ice shell and looks fat, so we call it "Bing Dwen Dwen". White is the color of ice and snow. "Bing Dwen Dwen" likes ice sports very much and is good at them. That's why it is the mascot of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Do you think the red mascot looks like a lantern? The lantern's name is "Shuey Rhon Rhon". When the Chinese New Year comes, people always make or buy red lanterns. Red is the color of hope and good luck, so people think their dreams will come true in the new year. "Shuey Rhon Rhon"can give players hope and help them do well in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games.

Many people in different countries like the two mascots very much, and they show their love for them on the Internet.

Nowadays, with the growing popularity of computers, teachers, students and their parents are paying less and less attention to handwriting. According to a research, there are eighty- five of the students admitting that they have a bad handwriting, and yet, are unwilling to improve it.

The reason why so many students refuse to improve their handwritings are as follows. Fifty-one percent think that they can write words by using computers, while thirty-two just say that they are too busy to practice their handwritings. What's worse, eleven percent view handwriting as nothing. And six percent of students have other reasons.

As far as I'm concerned, it is high time we should attach more importance to handwriting. The school authorities should start some courses accordingly. More importantly, we should spare some time to practice it instead of using computers.

During the epidemic(疫情) in Wuhan, there were so many superheroes in the fight against COVID—19 virus(病毒). Let's come close to them and remember them.

Day Three: Celebrate Winter Fishing Festival on Songhua Lake

It was a cold evening. I was in a restaurant wearing a pair of new black shoes when a boy of ten came to me. He was in an old large shirt, "Excuse me, sir! Could I clean your shoes?" the boy asked. "Yes. please," I answered.

The boy was busy doing his work when a heavy rain began. More, and more people rushed in and I could not find the boy. Several hours? passed, I thought the boy would not return my shoes. When it was near midnight the rain stopped. As the restaurant was to be closed, I had to move to the door.

To my surprise, at the door, I found the boy was sleeping without his old large shirt. He held a package wrapped(包裹) by his shirt in his arms. I shook him and woke him up. He jumped up and cleaned his eyes for a while before he recognized(认出) me. Then he opened the package hurriedly, gave my shoes back to me, and said, "I am sorry, sir." "It doesn't matter." I said. Then I thanked him and wrapped him with his un-fit shirt. On my way home, the boy still stayed in my mind.

It's been almost three years since COVID—19 began spreading around the world. There have been more than 400 million cases of the virus around the world. At least 6. 15 million people have died. 

After scientists developed vaccines(疫苗) that worked against the virus, many countries began to pay attention to vaccination programs. The vaccines are great tools for fighting the virus yet. 

One reason is that many poorer countries are struggling to get vaccines for their people. Our country has given away hundreds of millions of vaccines to those countries, but billions more are needed. 

In some countries with strong vaccination programs, many people refuse to get vaccinated. Many of these people have gotten wrong information and may not be safe. 

Finally, coronavirus "variants(变异)" are making it harder to beat the virus. Now the" Delta variant and Omicron variant seem to be the worst. They spread quickly and may cause more serious illnesses. 

The two variants are causing terrible problems in countries where people haven't had the chance to get vaccinated. Even in countries with plenty of vaccines, the variants are having a strong influence on unvaccinated people. 

It's clear that COVID-19 will be part of people's life for quite a while. The best way to fight it seems to vaccinate as many people as possible. 

Last week, City Daily did a survey about "How do Chinese people celebrate the Spring Festival" and "How do Americans celebrate Christmas?" About 500 Chinese people and 300 Americans took part in the online survey. Here are the results.

Such a survey can be naturally connected with the importance of Spring Festival for Chinese people, but what results in these differences? To my understanding, at least two reasons can explain this result For one thing, Chinese people have a strong sense of family, which enables many individuals to celebrate Spring Festival together with family members or relatives. For another, compared with before, some people are richer, and they have more freedom during the vacation. So, many people choose to celebrate this holiday by traveling. As for Americans, they prefer travelling. In fact, Americans like traveling on vacations, not only Christmas. Americans like exercising. There are no parks with fitness equipment(健身器材) in the US. So, they pay money to go to the gym.

A bird went to look for its happiness in the distance(远方).

It flew and flew when it suddenly saw a dying flower, whose face was full of smile.

Not knowing why, the bird asked the little flower, "You are going to die. Why are you still so happy?"

"Because my dream will come true," said the little flower.

What kind of dream do you have?"

"To produce sweet fruit."

Then the little bird saw it: happiness is a hope in the heart.

The little bird continued flying and saw a lame duck help a little duck find the way back home. Although it was disabled, it had a smiling face.

Not knowing why, it asked the duck, "The fate treats you so unfairly. Why are you still so happy with yourself?"

"l am happy because I can help others."

Then the little bird saw it: happiness is a love in the heart.

The bird kept flying and suddenly saw a spider climbing up a wall.

The spider fell off the wall midway, but it kept climbing again and fell off again.

This didn't discourage the spider, it kept climbing over and over again.

Not knowing why, the little bird asked the spider, "You failed again and again. Why don't you have pain but happiness on your face?"

"As long as I keep making my efforts, there is still hope to climb up it. Because of this, I'm so happy," said the spider.

Then the little bird saw it: happiness is a faith in the heart.

So the little bird pursued happiness no longer because it had seen the truth: happiness is not in the distance but in your heart.
