The time to form a new habit depends on the person, the habit itself, the environment, and the motivation. Generally speaking, 60 days is good enough for getting a new habit formed, but some habits could take twice as long. Some habits will never be formed no matter how much time passes. Even a habit that takes months or years to form can still be broken eventually.
Becoming an early riser was really challenging. I struggled with this habit for years to manage to form it. I do break this habit now and then, usually by choice to experience something different for a while. In the past 90 days, I have stayed in bed past 5 am perhaps only two or three times. It takes me less than a week to be back with it. Remembering the benefits surely helps.
In my 20s I was too impatient with many habits. If I couldn't get something working in a few weeks, I'd often drop it and try something else. Now that I'm in my late 40s, I have learned to think in a more practical way. I know that even if it takes many months or years to form a new habit, I am sure the habit could bring advantages for many years. It doesn't take me too long to think of carrying out the new habit, I just get it started. When you think about a habit that you have stuck to for many years, who cares if it took a few weeks or six months to form it?
Don't worry so much about how long it takes to form a habit. Instead, consider which habits could improve the quality of your life so that they are worthy of six months to get them formed. When a habit forms at last, it feels uncomfortable not to do it, and your day doesn't feel complete without it.
Sara Kays, a 22-year-old girl, is a rising star on online video-sharing platforms. She not only uses TikTok(抖音)to promote her music but also posts songs to get feedback(反馈)from her followers.
"It's been cool to engage with people that way ", said Kays, who has been using online platforms to realize her music dream. Now, she is famous on TikTok with about 1.3 million followers. She released(发行)her breakup song Remember That Night? in November 2020. The post blew up, getting almost three million views in a matter of days.
Kays has loved singing since she was young. At 11, she got a guitar from her mother and then started to sing while playing. Gradually, people started asking her to play at restaurants and she also started to post some live videos on YouTube, gaining her more and more followers. At 17, Kays turned to songwriting to help her deal with the confusion in life and serve as an outlet for her thoughts and feelings.
"I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to release songs and that all these people are listening to them online, " said Kays. "It's been amazing. "
Different from other content creators who update their content frequently, Kays updates on a weekly basis and only posts videos about her songs and related stories, such as singing, playing the guitar or ukulele, shooting music videos. Her videos are always simple, and the recording process is pretty simple too: she edit the vocals and video in her room.
Now, Kays has signed with a music company. In Kays' eyes, people like her songs and videos because she writes about life experiences and emotions of the youth. "I just sing and share my feelings about divorced parents, body image, loneliness and mental health, " said Kays. "I want more people to know they're not alone with the struggles in their lives. "
The organic (有机的) food market is made up of the sale of organic foods, drinks and related services. These food products do not use a lot of food additives or industrial solvent (溶剂).
Increasing health concerns about the growing number of chemical poisoning cases globally is acting as a driver in the organic food market. People are paying more attention to health because of the harmful effects caused by the presence of chemical pesticides (杀虫剂) in food products.
The chemical pesticides in food products can cause cancer. According to a UN report, around 200,000 people die every year due to bad effects of pesticides in food products. This is causing people to change their focus towards organic food products.
Are organic foods safer? We cannot say yes immediately. Some data show possible health benefits of organic foods. Some studies have shown differences between the organic foods and the traditional ones. But there is little information to prove how these differences can give overall health benefits.
Compared with the traditional foods and drinks, short shelf life of organic foods is controlling the organic food market. For example, a study conducted by a research team shows that the shelf life of organic food products is shorter than traditional products. Similarly, some researchers find that many organic foods have higher levels of bacteria than traditional products, which cause food to go bad. As organic foods don't have the similar amount of preservative (防腐剂) to that of traditional foods, organic foods are easier to gain bacteria attacks and have a shorter shelf life, which in turn makes it difficult for people to keep them. Thus, people will experience a high risk of buying the bad organic foods.
The organic food market is controlled by authorities such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to ensure high-quality standards of food products. Also, the authorities have come up with strict food labeling rules for the organic food market.
International tourism is becoming interestingly popular, and large numbers of people from all over the world come to visit famous places such as the Great Wall of China and the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. They've thrown rubbish everywhere, brought more traffic and even done serious damage to ancient relics.
As for the damage, there are many different causes. For example, the paintings in the Sistine Chapel are being damaged by people breathing onto them when they visit. That may raise the humidity (湿气) of the air and damage the paintings. Damage in other places such as the Great Wall is because of tourists climbing on delicate (脆弱的) areas. Besides, roads have also been built to help visitors climb the Wall easily. These activities can cause a lot of damage to the area.
Firstly, we have to cut down tourist numbers, because fewer visitors will result in less damage. Secondly, we should make strict rules about which areas people can visit and what they can do when they get there. People will not be allowed to walk off the paths. Visitors to indoor places can be asked to wear masks to protect the paintings.
In short, it is necessary to control tourism at famous places. And people who live hundreds of years later will have no chance to see these great places.
A. For example, special paths can be built.
B. What can we do to deal with these problems?
C. The Great Wall was built over 2,000 years ago.
D. However, these visitors have caused many problems.
E. Traveling is the best way for us to get to know the world.
F. If we do not do this, these places will disappear from our planet.
G. Their breath contains very small drops of water that are present in the air.

Have you tried to run or walk for exercise and then given up? If you answered yes, you should try a new kind of exercise: aquatic (水中的) exercise. Aquatic exercise (be) like exercise on land, but you do it in a (swim) pool. More and more people are trying aquatic exercise.
Aquatic exercise feels (easy) than exercising on land. Why? You weigh about 90% less in the pool. is better for your knees than running or walking. Water is about 1, 000 times thicker and heavier than air. To move through the water, your body has to work four (time) as hard. As result, you can burn more calories (卡路里).

Recently I got a job. It was exactly what I needed. The only challenge was that child care was really expensive in the UK, So I signed up with a nursery for my baby and paid over £1,300 for just one month. I signed all the necessary documents, among which stated that they had a no refund (退款) policy, so in case you missed some days, the money was not refunded regardless of the reason.
My baby was there for three days and got ill. I was forced to leave work to care for him. I was so worried as I had just started the job, but I had to take a few days off. By Friday he was so sick that he couldn't eat, drink or walk, and I was terribly anxious. I had tests done only to find out that he had tested positive for COVID-19. We then had to self-isolate (自我隔离) for ten days. As the ten days were coming to an end, I got the virus from him and I tested positive, just as his repeated test results came back negative. So I had to self-isolate with him again for another ten days.
As 20 days had passed, the month was over and it was in December. The rest of the year was holidays and the nursery was not open during the holidays.
Just like that, I had lost £1,300 in three days and I was at home, not working. It meant that I didn't earn anything either. I was so annoyed at first as it did not seem fair at all, given that my baby had gotten COVID-19 at the nursery. I called Ms Clark, who runs the nursery, and she told me they have a no refund policy which I had signed. I felt so helpless at that moment.
