Dear Patrick,
Recently, I always with my parents about small things. I share my happiness with them but all I get is a scolding (斥责). I don't understand why they do this. Could you give me some to better understand them?

Hi Cathy,
First, try to look at your parents with empathy(共情). Are they dealing with stress? They might be taking out their stress and anxiety through these squabbles（争吵）.
Still, another explanation is to look at the "small things" that you and your parents fight about. Sometimes a small problem for you might be a bigger one for your parents.
Finally, the only thing you can is your own reaction (反应). In an ideal world, parents would be happy to share your happiness; but unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. As you get older, it will be easier to see your parents as just people. You should accept them as they are now.

It happened on a snowy January morning. Thomas was1 his dog, Mica, in the park.

Have you ever walked along the Silk Road? Do you know the famous Silk Road? The Silk Road was an ancient network of trade routes（贸易路线）connecting the East and the West.
People used to do business with others from different countries along these routes. Scientists and archaeologists（考古学家）believe people began to travel along the Silk Road centuries ago.
