One of my least favorite chores is cleaning my bedroom, but I have to do it. If my bedroom is untidy, I find it hard to relax and impossible to do any work! My mom always says "a tidy home means a tidy mind". and I think this is true. If everything is a mess, you just can't think clearly. Studies show that people are usually more successful if they work, study, or live in a clean and tidy environment. A 2006 study showed that a high percentage(百分率) of children with bad behavior come from messy houses. Children who grow up in dirty houses tend to be unhealthy and they fall sick more often too. This is why people with tidier homes are often healthier and more successful. My mom is a good example of this. She makes sure our home is always very clean and comfortable, and my sister and I hardly ever fall sick. Everyone loves her and she is very successful at her job in a bank.
I am not a naturally tidy person. I sometimes throw my clothes on the floor because I am too tired to put them away, and I often leave rubbish on my desk. It is not easy to keep things clean all the time, but I am trying to develop the habit of tidying up every day. Maybe one day I will be as tidy and successful as my mom!
A smart diet, a healthy life! No matter how old your kids are, you can take steps to improve a healthy diet and to encourage good eating habits.
Tip One: Family Meals
Family meals are nice for both parents and kids. Children like to guess what they are going to have and parents get the chance to introduce new foods to children. Parents can also use the mealtime as a chance to talk with their kids about their life.
Tip Two: Healthy Snacks(零食)
Kids, especially younger ones, will eat mostly what can get at home. That's why it's important to have enough healthy snacks, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, yogurt and whole-grain biscuits.
Tip Three: Being a Good Example
The best way for you to encourage healthy eating is to eat well yourself. Kids will follow the lead of the adults they see every day. By eating fruits and vegetables and avoiding fast food and sweet drinks, you are sending the right message.
Tip Four: No Shouts about Food
Parents might find themselves shouting at children to get them to have healthy foods in front of them. This in fact can make children dislike what they are asked to eat. You need to work a bit on different cooking methods(方式、方法).
Tip Five: Get Kids Included(参与)
Most kids will enjoy making the decision about food. Talk to them about making choices and planning a healthy meal. It can help them to make good decisions on their own about the foods they want to eat.
In the middle of the first term of school, the entire eighth grade was tested for basic skills. Steve hurried through his tests, and continued to dream of other things. His heart was not in school, but in the woods.
One day, Miss White's impatient voice broke into his daydreams. "Steve! Pay attention!" Steve turned to look at her, fixing his eyes on Miss White, as she began to go over the test results for the eighth grade.
"You all did pretty well," she told the class, "except for one boy, and it breaks my heart to tell you this, but..." She hesitated, her eyes searching his face. "...The smartest boy in the eighth grade is failing my class!" She just stared at Steve. Steve dropped his eyes.
After that, it was war! Steve still wouldn't do his homework. Even as the punishments became more severe, he remained stubborn(顽固不化的).
"Just try it! ONE WEEK!" He was unmoved.
"You're smart enough! You'll see a change!" Nothing touched him.
"Give yourself a chance! Don't give up on your life!" Nothing.
"Steve! Please! I care about you!"
Wow! Suddenly, Steve got it! Someone cared about him? Steve went home from school, thoughtful, that afternoon. Walking into the house, both parents were out. He, quickly, gathered up a jar of peanut butter, a loaf of bread, a bottle of water, and this time...his schoolbooks.
The following Monday he arrived at school on time, and he waited for Miss White to enter the classroom. She walked in, all smiles! God, she was beautiful!
Miss White, immediately, gave a quiz on the weekend homework. Steve hurried through the test and was the first to hand in his paper. With a look of surprise, Miss White took his paper. Obviously puzzled, she began to look it over. Miss White's face was in total shock! The smartest boy in the eighth grade had just passed his first test!
From that moment nothing was the same for Steve. Life at home remained the same, but life still changed. He discovered that not only could he learn, but he was good at it!
He discovered that he could understand knowledge and translate the things he learned into his own life. Steve began to go ahead!

It was a lovely day. Jimmy woke up and looked at the clock. 11:30? He jumped out of the bed and threw on clothes. He had wanted to get up early and surprise his dad with Father's Day breakfast in bed—with his mom's help of course. He took up the wrapped present on his desk and went to find his1 .
"Where is Dad?" Jimmy checked all the rooms, but the whole house was empty. He walked out to the 2 , and found Dad was holding a hammer and looking at a new tree fort that stood in 3 big back yard.
Jimmy climbed the rope ladder up to the fort. It had two rooms with three small windows. Dad followed Jimmy into the fort, looking excited. "It took me the whole morning to 4 it. I had one when I was your age. Grandpa surprised me with it on5 too."
"So, it's like an instructive(教育性的)activity?" Jimmy asked.
"Yes, this is a present for 6 of us. Maybe you'll build one for your son one day."
Dad looked around and asked Jimmy 7 they would do first in the tree fort. Jimmy slowly showed the 8 and said, "Happy Father's Day!" He didn't think it was possible,9 Dad's smile widened as he opened the gift. "A chess set! How did you know I wanted10 ?" Jimmy always saw his dad playing against the computer and he guessed it 11 be his father's favorite.
"Let's play it!" Dad set up the chessboard. "It's the12 gift that I have got of all this Father's Day."
"I'm glad you like it," Jimmy said.
"I do, but I was talking about spending more time with you. I 13 loved the father-son time. I spent a lot of time with your grandfather when I was 14 ."
Jimmy looked at his dad. "Do you think Grandpa would like us 15 him to come to the fort?"
Dad squeezed(紧握)Jimmy's shoulder. "I think he'd love that."
That day, the three men played, talked and laughed. It was really a happy Father's Day.
John Allen, an American scientist once (say)," The Internet is the world's (large) library, but all the books in it are on the floor!" What he meant is that the Internet is full of information. But it can be difficult to find you really need. The Internet has another disadvantage(弊端). Anyone can create a website, so you can find websites about whatever you can imagine. (luck), a lot of what is written on them isn't always true.
At same time, the Internet offers many other things. On some websites, you can download music and films. They are usually very cheap and some are even free. On some other websites, you can connect with people from all over the world. And there are some great online stores, too. For example, on eBay people sell (use) clothes, CDs, and even cars at very low ( price) .
It is true that the Internet has changed the way we work and communicate. But we should not depend it too much. Some people are also afraid that (surf) the Internet has taken the place of other healthy activities, especially for young people. Whether you love it or hate it, though, you'd better (get) used to it because it is right here to stay.
