There is water in some places of the desert. We call these places oases. In the oases, there are villages and towns. People grow many kinds of plants in the fields there. People also live outside the oases. They have camels（骆驼）and other animals. These animals do not need much water. The animals are useful to the desert people in many ways. They eat the meat and drink the milk of the animals. They use the camels for carrying water, food and something else（其他的）. The desert people have to keep moving from place to place. They must always look for grass or desert plants for the animals. When there is no more food for their animals, they move to another place. The desert people are friendly. They want to help the people in trouble（陷入困境）and give them food and water.
American school year begins in late August or early September. It ends in May or June, and then it's time for summer vacation.

There was a tree in my garden. One day, two birds came to the tree and built a house for their three newborn babies.
One morning, I heard the sound of the birds. I got out of my house and found two baby birds eating food on the ground. After a while, their parents came back. They brought food to the third baby bird. But they put it on the ground, far away from the bird. To get the food, the baby bird had to fly down. Although she was hungry, she couldn't eat it because she was too afraid to fly down. To my surprise, her parents just stood there and did nothing.
After about ten minutes, the third baby bird slowly went to the edge （边缘） of the nest（鸟巢）and finally flew out of the nest. She landed（着陆） safely on the ground and ate the food happily.
