Julia said the snowman should be given a name. The kids couldn't decide on a good one, for everyone wanted to make the decision. "I must be 4 to give him a name. As we all know, fresh flowers can make a room look and smell good. They also have some magic power.
Martin lay in hospital for weeks after falling from a building in 2011. He faced a lot of surgeries(手术)and began losing hope. Martin's friends and family members came to visit him. They brought him fresh flowers each day. Then something wonderful happened. Martin's condition started to improve, and he looked towards the future with more hope.
Martin soon realized that other patients around him weren't receiving the same kind of emotional(情感上的)support. This inspired him to go from room to room, giving away his flowers to them. The results were amazing. He watched people's misery turn into happiness.
After leaving the hospital, Martin couldn't forget the power of his flowers. Six months later, to help more people, he started a project called the Simple Sunflower Project. He collected used flowers from some events like weddings(婚礼)and then the flowers were given to people in hospitals and the old people's homes. In the first year, the project served no more than 100 people. But in the following 10 years, it gave away flowers to nearly 30,000 people.
Many studies have found that fresh flowers as well as plants are good for people's health. To test the result, the University of Tennessee Medical Center did a study on the Simple Sunflower Project. Almost 95% of the patients who had received flowers had an improvement in their emotional condition. When staying in hospital, people felt not as comfortable as at home, but the Simple Sunflower Project helped them in some ways. Flowers could make them less stressed and less painful. Patients with flowers had shorter hospital stays as well. Flowers make a great difference.

Have you ever ridden a bike in the sun? It might make you feel a little hot. However, riding on a cycle path(骑行小路)in a sunny area could be fun. In the town of Krommenie, you can find a special cycle path that can create energy by using the sun.
This 70-meter-long cycle path was built with solar panels(太阳能板)into it. These panels take in light from the sun's rays. Then they use the light to create electricity, which can power street lights. The electricity can also go straight into the electrical grid(电网)to offer electricity for daily use. In the first year, this short path was creating enough energy to power one house for a whole year!
This kind of path hasn't been widely built because scientists are still doing research to test the safety of it. They must make sure the path is strong enough for cars, buses and even trucks to drive over it. They must also make sure the path isn't too smooth because being too smooth could be a little dangerous. Bike riders may fall easily while riding on it.
In another town called Eindhoven, you can also find a cycle path which uses solar energy to make art. It's about 1 kilometer long. The path opened in
2014. It is made up of thousands of tiny lights. The lights take in the sun during the day and shine bright at night like stars. These lights come together like a beautiful picture. Every year, many tourists visit it and take photos there.
It's fantastic and creative to use the sun.

Someone once told me, "Senior high school life will be a journey full of challenges and hope. " At that time, I didn't understand what he meant. However, my first day at senior high school made me realize the meaning of his words.
My senior high school life began on August 26th. I woke up early and stepped into my high school. The minute I saw the class list on the wall, I found zero old classmates or friends in my class! None! When I entered the classroom, I saw a middle-aged man. "Welcome to my class! I'm your teacher," he said. After everybody was seated, each of us made a short self-introduction.
Then my teacher announced that we were going to make an important decision on our senior high school life — to choose the courses from all the subjects at school. "This will have a lot to do with your future. The school adviser will help you choose the suitable ones. You still have several days to think about it or have a talk about it with your parents!" said my teacher. "High school life has started, and you should be responsible for your decisions. "
In the evening, I sat in the living room silently. Dad asked me to share the day with him. After hearing my words, Dad touched me softly and said, "Different things happen in every period of our life. And they all come with hope. You could make the first move to make new friends. What's more, you could join different clubs at senior high. As for choosing courses, isn't it a good thing? You could choose the ones you like and the ones that you are good at. Come on, my boy!"
I start to look forward to my challenging and hopeful high school life. I believe I can make it.
