She used to sleep on the sidewalk of the Fifth Street Post Office. I could1 her before I didn't see her. She wore2 clothes and her mouth was nearly toothless. I seldom saw her talk with others If she was not3 , she talked to herself I always had sympathy(同情) for her. What a poor old 4 ! She must be lonely and hungry because nobody cared about her.
One Thanksgiving, we had lots of food left over. I thought about the old lady. She might be still5 . So I packed the food up and6 over to the Fifth Street. It was a cold night. There was7 anyone out. But I knew she would stay at the8 place and I would find her easily.
She sat against a fence near the post office. She was dressed9 she always was. I drove my car over to her, rolled(摇) down the window and said, "I've10 you some food. Would you like some turkey and apple pie?" However, the old woman didn't seem to be very11 about this. She looked at me and said quite clearly, "Oh, thank you very much, but12 gave me food earlier and I'm quite full now. Maybe there were people in hungry. Why don't you take it to someone else who13 it?"
Her words were14 and her manners were gracious(亲切的) and gentle. Soon her head sank into her arm again. I was the only person who didn't15 what to say. It impressed me a lot that the people who make a difference in our life are the ones that care for others. An old lady who was clearly down on her luck still thought about others. Why don't more of us do that?

There are some famous buildings in the world. It is easy for people to recognize(认出) them with their imaginations. For example, when you see a picture of a sports stadium(体育场) that reminds you of a bird's nest, you probably know it is the Olympic stadium in Beijing.
In fact, other buildings can be recognized more easily. The shape of the building shows the objects people can see inside. In Guizhou, China, people can visit the Meitan Tea Museum, built in the shape of a big teapot. From faraway, the teapot-shaped museum looks like some kind of huge work of art. But as one gets closer, the windows make it clear that this is a building.
People who are interested in guitars might want to visit the Guitar Museum in Tennessee, USA. The building is shaped like a guitar. Inside, visitors can see all kinds of guitars and learn about famous guitar players.
One of the newest funny-shaped museums is a pottery(陶器) museum in Korea. This museum that is shaped just like a traditional Korean pot is so popular in Korea. Along with seeing examples of pots and tools used for making pots in the museum, visitors can try to make their own pots there and enjoy real experience in the museum.

Those who have virtue(德行) but no talent might work uselessly. Those who have talent but no virtue might not use their talent properly. Those who have both talent and virtue were called xiancai in ancient times. If you ask which one is more important between the two, it must be virtue. Only if a person has virtue can he or she get on the right road.
There is a story in the book History as a Mirror《资治通鉴》by Chinese historian Sima Guang. Zhi Xuanzi was the head of a big clan(家族) in the State of Jin during the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476BC). He wanted a clan member, Zhi Yao, to be the next leader of the clan.
However, another man in the clan, Zhi Guo, was against the idea. Because he knew Zhi Yao was not kind and a little rude. One day, Zhi Guo listed some strong points of Zhi Yao. For example, he was good at riding and shooting. Also he was creative and talkative. But Zhi Guo said that he had a big problem: his virtue. He had an unkind heart.
Zhi Guo thought Zhi Xuanzi could accept his advice. However, Zhi Xuanzi didn't listen to the idea. Zhi Xuanzi still made Zhi Yao became the head of the clan. With his leadership abilities, he quickly made his clan the strongest in Jin. But after a long period, because of his aggressive(咄咄逼人的) style and his unkind action, more and more people dislike him. Meanwhile, three other clans worked together to fight against the Zhi clan. Finally, the Zhi clan was beaten.
Sima Guang used this story to stress the importance of virtue. Talent is not enough. He said that excellent people must have both talent and virtue.
