Parents often get angry because of their trouble(麻烦)in their lives. Let's say that your mother is not happy about her boss. If she doesn't have other ways of expressing(表达)her emotions(情感), she might come home and yell at you, scream(尖声喊叫)at your dad, kick the dog, or even say something mean(刻薄的)to you.
Here's how to handle(处理)it when an adult in your life has trouble controlling(控制)his or her anger. Don't make it worse. Angry people can have trouble thinking clearly, so try not to do or say anything to make things worse. A king once went to a master (大师). He wanted to become more powerful than other ____ kings. He sat in front of the master and started telling him the purpose of his visit. The master listened patiently to the king.
He then told the king to go to the valley where a rose plant and a cypress (柏树) plant were growing side by side. He told the king," They are your teachers. They can teach you what you want to learn."
The king went into the garden, and saw the two plants but could not understand what he could learn from them. He went back to the master and asked," What do you mean, master? I am not able to understand what and how these plants will teach me."
The master took the king to the plants and explained," This cypress plant has been next to the rose plant for so many years. Never once has it wanted to become a rose plant. Similarly. the rose plant has never wanted to become a cypress plant. If man had been the cypress plant, he would have compared himself with the rose and felt jealous (忌妒的) at the attention that the beautiful rose plant was getting from all the people. Or, if man were the rose plant, he would have looked at the cypress plant enviously (羡慕地) thinking how peaceful the plant was without the trouble of being disturbed by people all day! Both of the plants grew very well because they used all their energy for their own growth instead of using it to compete with the other."
I stepped on the red carpet and smiled as the cameras rushed up to take pictures. I slowly walked into the large hall of my first Hollywood premiere. I had designed the special effects for the hottest movie on the market. Later, a friend of mine came with a big smile on her face. "I'm sure you have never thought that you would be here," she said excitedly. I calmly smiled back in return.
Having never had great chances, I've worked long and hard to create a bright future. Though I grew up in a poor family, I never doubted that my future goals would be connected with computers. In middle school, I became the producer of a daily news television show.
My future goal became even more possible when a new high school in my area held a technology program created for students interested in technology-related jobs. Through the program I was able to learn about computer design and gain experience through a part-time job with a local computer company. Whenever a new movie came out, I would find out the company which created the special effects for the movies. At the same time, I searched for jobs on the Internet. The companies on the Internet usually require certain kinds of degrees. I planned on studying Computer Science.
Though I didn't give up my dreams. I continued to pay my attention to daily events. I took part in a large number of activities to broaden my view on life. I worked hard in school to develop my mind. I communicated with people who could give my advice about any problem I might meet along the way. And now, after years of preparation, my hard work is paying off. I know I have succeeded because I put my goal into action.
