Some people still live in her hometown. But1may only return once or twice a year. Nowadays, millions of Chinese leave the countryside2for work in the cities.3these is Li Daming, a 38-year-old husband and father. He4Shanghai for the past 13 years. Working in a busy factory, he doesn't find5time to visit his hometown. "I6return home at least once a year, but I haven't been back for almost three years now. It's7shame, but I just don't have the time," he says.
Many people like Li Daming show great interest in the changes of their hometowns. Lots of large hospitals and new roads have appeared. In many places, a lot of excellent teachers from the cities8to help as well.
"I9that's true of my hometown," adds Li Daming. "Children have learned to read and count at my old primary school since the10century. But now the buildings are really old. I hear they are going to build a new school there." Li Daming thinks11are good, and he also knows that his hometown cannot always stay the same.
12Li Daming, great changes have taken place in his hometown.13, some things will never change. "In my hometown, a big old tree14still opposite the school and has become quite a symbol of the place. When I was young, most of the children in my hometown liked to play together under that big tree15during the summer holiday. That was our happy childhood. Our hometown has left many soft and sweet memories in our minds."
Parents often get angry because of their trouble(麻烦)in their lives. Let's say that your mother is not happy about her boss. If she doesn't have other ways of expressing(表达)her emotions(情感), she might come home and yell at you, scream(尖声喊叫)at your dad, kick the dog, or even say something mean(刻薄的)to you.
Here's how to handle(处理)it when an adult in your life has trouble controlling(控制)his or her anger. Don't make it worse. Angry people can have trouble thinking clearly, so try not to do or say anything to make things worse. Wait till the person cools off, then talk to him or her in a calm(冷静的)tone, and try to explain how the anger is affecting(影响)you.
Would you try food made of rubbish? When world leaders got together at the UN for a meeting on climate(气候) change, they had a special lunch. The food was made from something that most of us would throw away. There was a salad made of vegetable scraps(剩菜叶). The leaders also had hamburgers made of fruit left over from juicing.
The UN said this reminded people about food waste and the bad influence it has on climate change. "Food waste is not often noticed in climate change, and that is shameful when so many people are in hunger." said a government secretary.
Most people don't even realize how much food they throw away every day. Sometimes they cook too much or they don't use it in time. Every year more than one-third of all food produced worldwide goes to waste, according to the UN. Stop the waste, and the whole world could save $300 billion from wasted food. More importantly, it could also do less harm to the environment.
Think about a bag of cheese(奶酪). Before we buy it at the store, people have to raise the cows, deal with the milk, and drive to the shop to sell the cheese. If you throw the cheese away, you have wasted energy, fuel(燃料) and water, which give out greenhouse gases that add to global warming.
The UN said if we stop throwing good food away, we could cut down up to 17 million tons of CO₂. The good of that would be the same as taking one in every four cars off the road.
While most TV stations and video-streaming platforms try to attract people by producing reality shows with many popular stars, Henan TV has become popular by producing seven dance pieces highlighting traditional culture, such as Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess, a two-minute underwater dance.
Yao Wei, director of the TV station's Innovation Center, was invited to talk about how the TV station had produced the hit dance pieces at the three-day forum centering on the research of Chinese dance last month. "The seven dance pieces have got nearly 30 billion hits on social media platforms. That's a huge success for Henan TV," said Yao.
The pieces made an emotional effect on people, most of whom are members of Gen Z (people born between 1995 and 2009), Yao said." Young people have grown up with a more open mindset and they accept Chinese culture willingly and are proud of it," he added. "What we need to do is present Chinese culture in more interesting ways."
Yao pointed out that they are also changing their shows to attract younger people. One of the keys is to produce content with strong visual creativity, such as the latest technology and stage settings, like underwater scenes, which have become the new ways of telling stories about traditional Chinese culture. Another key to successfully reaching younger people is using social media platforms to move up the shows.
"Social media is being shaped and driven by young people. It's a powerful form of communication. When they take a quick scroll through their phones, they easily become interested in an eye-catching video." Yao said.
When you sleep, can you know that you are dreaming? If yes, then you are having a lucid dream (清醒梦). It is hard for most people to know it. Only some people are able to know this. Now scientists have found ways to help more people to have lucid dreams, Live Science reported. Denholm Aspy from the University of Adelaide in Australia, found that certain skills are key to helping people have lucid dreams.
First, people train themselves to figure out (弄明白) that they are dreaming or they are not. People can practice a way for this in real life. For example, someone may look at a clock, look away, and then look back. The time should stay the same. Then, they might dream about this situation while sleeping. But in their dreams, the time on the clock may change very quickly. So people know they are dreaming.
Another way is to wake up after five hours of sleep. Then, stay awake for a while. During this time, repeat (重复) the words. "The next time I'm dreaming, I will remember that I'm dreaming." Then, go to bed again to begin rapid eye movement (REM,快速眼球运动) sleep. In REM sleep, people can know their dreams.
Scientists found that those who used these ways had a 17% success to have lucid dreams. This was far higher than if they did nothing. And in a lucid dream, people might study a hobby and then become better at that hobby in real life.

People often call the plastic bags "white pollution". It becomes (bad) invention for the humans because it is hard to break down. It (report) that it takes 100-200 years to break them down(complete). However, a 16-year-old high-school Canadian student called Daniel Byrd discovered that in one kind of mysterious single cell fungus may break down the plastic bag!
The idea of the invention came from his housework. He always helped his mother do the housework. Every time, he opened the closet, the plastic bags would fly out. This makes him very (angry). So he thought how to deal with these plastic bags. He knew the plastic bags were destroyed by the microorganism(微生物). First, he made experiment—he mixed some earth germs and plastic bags together. After 12 weeks, he found the plastic bags were broken down. Then, he made another experiment. In the (nature) environment, these germs could work well. The experiment also showed that the plastic bags can be broken down in three months. And it only gave off some water and little carbon dioxide.
He wanted to go to college with the money he got the invention. And now he got about thirty thousand dollars. Also he got a lot of reward from many universities.
