"Mom's birthday is tomorrow," says Arizona. "Do you want to help me make a super-special birthday card?"
"Or what about making a super-special birthday breakfast?" says Tex.
"No, let's make up a super-special birthday song!" says Indi.
"We always do your ideas," says Tex to Indi. "We never do my ideas."
"No, we always do your ideas," says Indi. "We never do my ideas."
"You two are being silly," says Arizona. "If we cooperate, we can do all of our ideas." So they work together(一起)to make a super-special birthday card first.
Then they work together to make up a super-special birthday song. And the next day, they work together to make a super-special birthday breakfast.
"Wow!" says Mom. "A yummy breakfast, a nice birthday card, and the best birthday song. How do you three do all of these?"
"We just work together!" says Indi.
Some children don't like their schoolbags. A schoolbag makes them think of books and homework. My schoolbag is different. It is from my father, and there is a name "Mary" on it. I love it because it holds everything I need.
I love books and my schoolbag keeps them with me. I don't mean only schoolbooks. I mean my reading books, too. Now I am reading Peter Rabbit. After that, I will read Harry Potter.
My schoolbag also holds my lunch box. Dad always puts a good lunch in my schoolbag. Sometimes he puts a note in it. That way, I feel happy all the afternoon.
Sometimes my schoolbag is very heavy, but I don't mind. It has everything I need. It's like a home on my back.
Is your father too busy every day? Does he have no time to play with you? If so, an "hourly dad" can help you.
In America, parents can hire(雇用)a man to act as their children's father. The "hourly dad" takes a child to and from school and plays games with the child. He also helps the child with his or her homework. But he doesn't need to eat with the family. People pay the "hourly dad" by the hour.
People like "hourly dads" because many parents have a lot of work and they don't have time to be with their children. Or children from single-parent(单亲)families need someone like a father.
①taking the child to school
②playing with the child
③helping the child with his or her homework
④eating with the child
It's four fifty in the afternoon. The librarian, Lucy, starts to put away( 收 拾 )books. So she puts the books in the bookcase and is going to leave. Then she sees a little girl behind her. She is in a white dress and she looks very nice. "Hey, little girl! Let's go home!" Lucy says.
"Mom asks me to wait for her in the library," the little girl says.
"But the library will be closed in five minutes. And I'll ask her when she'll be back."
" 135**767."
(After Lucy calls the girl's mother...)
"Your mom will be back in ten minutes. Let's wait for her outside the library."
"OK. Thanks."
Then the two girls get out of the library.
A. It's late. B. The girl is about four years old. C. She asks Mrs. Black for help. D. She knows it's time to go home. E. Please tell me your mother's phone number. |
What do you think of Lucy?
