I often cycle(骑自行车)around Australia and plan to cycle the Nullarbor to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis(MS,多发性硬化症). I have MS myself, but cycling is a pain — free activity for me. I feel quite relaxed after cycling. But a not — so — kind person stol e all of my bikes when I was travelling.
Since this happened, the human kindness I have been shown makes me feel very surprised. A kind lady bought a mountain bike for me to continue riding. A gentleman donated(捐赠)another bike to me to continue training on roads. It was almost impossible to find a bike in my size, because the bike I had before was very short. And it required an extra — small frame(框架). I was quite lucky. My hometown got behind____me to raise some money. With this money, I have bought a bike that is just the right size for me.
So far people have offered me places to stay, welcomed me into their warm homes. They made sure I have enough water when riding so long. They also put money in my hands in the street to help me reach my goal. The stolen bikes turned into an interview with ABC Radio and papers in Tasmania.
My point is that there are so many good and kind —hearted people out there. My experience is that people are mainly kind and beautiful. I could never doubt(怀疑)the fact that the world holds more good and kind people than unkind people. That, in itself, is hope! I'm happy that I will cycle on the road again soon, and do my best to give back kindness.
a. Some kind people bought bikes for him.
b. He'll try to give back kindness.
c. All of his bikes were stolen.
d. Radio and papers interviewed him.
e. Some people served him well.
You know that now 5G can give you a faster online experience. In fact, 5G can do a lot more than just this. Here are some of the things 5G can do.
①____
Do you have live classes at home? With 5G, you can have classes outside our home. The class can go as smoothly as the ones you have at home. Students from poor areas can have the chance to study just like others do.
②____
5G makes future cars safer. These cars can send signals(信号) to each other. They can also "talk"to traffic lights. 5G will make cars run even faster than human drivers do.
③____
Xiao Ming is at school. Suddenly, he feels uncomfortable. Doctors in the car send Xiao Ming's information to the hospital through 5G. Doctors at the hospital get the information and they have a vid—eo call to diagnose(诊断)Xia o Ming. With 5G, future medical care can be like this. Also, when people are ill, they may not need to go to the hospital. They can just see a doctor at home.
④____
5G makes the Internet of Things(IOT) possible. IOT is a large network(网) that connects eve—rything to the Internet. Smart homes are part of it. For example, your roaster(烤面包机) "know"when you get up and makes your breakfast.
5G will be really pe rfect in the future. Most parts of our society will be changed by 5G.
a. Future Home b. Self —driving Car c. Resolution d. Education e. Health Care
When people go to a different country for the first time, they experience culture shock(冲突)because everything is so different: the language, the food, the background, the social customs and others! When I first set foot in the City of Leeds, England, I found myself in a completely different culture from that of my own city, Guangzhou. For the first few days of my stay in Leeds I really knew about this so — called"culture shock".
One problem I had was with the food. Usually Chinese people are not used to the taste of British food, but the problem I actually had was with the names of the different kinds of food. When the wai—ter asked me what I wanted, all I could do was to point and say"I want this"or"I want that".
Something else which was different was the countryside. When I was sitting on the bus heading from Manchester International Airport towards Leeds, I saw through the window large fields of green grass on either side of the motorway(高速路). There were green grass and beautiful trees all the way. I could see sheep or horses eating grass in a free way. We may see such a scene in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. Because we Chinese use most of the land to grow crops. As we all know, China has the largest population in the world but very limited farming land. It supports about one fifth of the world's population. We can't afford to leave large areas of rich land unused.
Then, after a few days, I got over this shock and really enjoyed my stay in England.
①He went to Leeds by train.
②He couldn't call the names of the food.
③He saw some horses through the window.
④He flew back to Inner Mongolia.
⑤He was used to the culture shock there later.
Maybe you are an average(普通的) student. This is not necessary so, however. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here's how.
Plan your time carefully.
When you plan your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. First, arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then decide a good, regular time for studying.Don't forget to set aside enough time for entertainment. A weekly schedule may not so lve all your problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.
Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios or television! When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.
Study regularly.
When you get home from school, go over your notes. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.
Develop a good attitude about tests.
The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. They help you remember your new knowledge.
A. Find a good place to study. B. Devote(投入) all your time to your lessons. C. So, if you fail a test, don't be too worried. D. You probably think you will never be a top student. E. Don't make your mind wander off especially in class. F. After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time. G. Review the important points that your teacher mentioned in class. |
