When Garvison flew from Chicago to Atlanta earlier this week with a baby in her arms, she saw the unhappy looks of her seatmates.
As soon as we got on the plane at 5:30 am, it was very quiet and it was a full 1 , Garvison wrote in a Facebook 2 , noticed that the two seats next to me were 3 and this couple looked annoyed and I could tell by their body4 that they weren't 5 sitting next to Rylee, my baby.
Garvison asked if she could change 6 . And her new seatmate 7 all the difference in the day of this young mom, who was on a trip to surprise her military husband.
The next thing I knew was that I was sitting next to this amazing woman! I was not sure if she could tell how 8 I looked or what, but she turned our day 9 around. Rlyee wouldn't stop 10 no matter what I would try and do so she asked whether I would 11 if she could try and of course I let her. As soon as she had her, Rlyee was looking out of the window and stopped crying. When we got in the air, she fell right asleep and slept the whole flight 12 we got to our gate. She kept saying it wasn't a problem 13 and it was 14 a comforting feeling for her. She 15 carried her off the plane.
She wrote, will never understand how happy this act of 16 has made my family. You could have just 17 your eyes and been unhappy like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and 18 of mind. It brought tears to my eyes while I sat there and watched you and Rylee sleeping next to 19 . I just couldn't believe how that ended up20 and how caring you were to us. Thank you so much!

A friend of mine named Paul received an expensive car from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street.urchin(顽童) was walking around the shining car."Is this your car, Paul?"he asked.
Paul answered,"Yes, my brother gave it to me for Christmas."The boy was surprised."You mean your brother gave it to you and it cost you nothing? Boy,I wish..."He hesitated. Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He wished he had a brother like that. But what the boy said surprised Paul greatly.
"I wish,"the boy went on,"that I could be a brother like that."Paul looked at the boy in surprise, and then he said again,"Would you like to take a ride in my car? "
"Oh yes, I'd love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes shining, said,"Paul, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the boy wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big car. But Paul was wrong again."Will you stop where those two steps are? "the boy asked.
He ran up to the steps. Then in a short while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled(残疾) brother. He sat him down on the step and pointed to the car.
"There he is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn't cos t him a cent. And some day I'm going to give you one just like it... Then you can see for yourself all the nice things in the Christmas window that I've been trying to tell you about."
Paul got out and lifted the boy to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in and the three of them began an unforgettable holiday ride.
You've heard an old Chinese saying before:Give a man a fish and you feed him·for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. You may even be nodding your head in agreement right now. However, we can have a different understanding about it.
When a person is starving, that's not the time to fill their head with knowledge but to first give the person a fish eradicating their hunger and only then teach them to fish. Far too often, people ignore this common sense first step. They see someone who is struggling, and they rush to offer wisdom."Let me tell you what I'd do in your position,"a well-meaning individual might offer.
But few of us understand the anxiety, confusion and uncertainty that come with overwhelming need. People meeting with personal disasters don't have the ability to think straight. Their nerves may be shot. Their confidence may be non-existent. Can you imagine what it would be like to be in that person's situation?
Rushing to offer a struggling person long-term advice is a waste of time. Instead, it makes far more sense to help them regain their emotional balance. Once their ears, heart and mind open, you'll have an opportunity to teach a new skill.
But how do we know whether a person needs a fish before a fishing lesson? Two things:One is the ability to pay attention. We need to know whether the other person is open and receptive, or looking at the world through narrowed eyes? You can't just take their words but have to look at how the person acts and what they don't say. The other is empathy(共情). The more successful you are, the harder it is to imagine what it must be like to be the opposite. Try to create a safe environment for emotional acceptance before the fishing lesson.
When it comes to work, workers, and jobs, much of the concern of the modern age boils down to the fear that we're witnessing the final stage of the game, and that there will be nowhere for humans to withdraw as machines take over the last few tasks. The most recent example comes from the use of artificial intelligence(AI). Is there no area of human experience that can't be replaced by AI? And if not, what is left for humans to do except the tasks involved in taking care of the machines?
At the heart of this concern is our desire for good jobs jobs that make the most of workers' natural abilities and where the work provides the worker with motivation and work-life balance. More importantly, good jobs support workers in learning by doing——and, in so doing, deliver benefits on three levels:to the worker, who gains in personal development and job satisfaction; to the organization, which reforms as staff find new problems to solve and opportunities to pursue; and to the community as a whole, which harvests the economic benefits of hosting positive organizations and workers. This is what makes good jobs productive for the organization, as well as engaging and fulfilling for the worker.
Does the ongoing advance of AI threaten to get rid of all the learning, creativity, and meaning that make a job a good job? Certainly, some have blamed technology for just such an outcome. Headlines today often express concern over technological innovation resulting in bad jobs for humans, or even the complete disappearance of certain professions. Some fear that further technology advancement in the workplace will result in jobs where employees are being asked to work in split times or for longer periods over more days.
The problem here isn't the technology; rather, it's the way the technology is used —and, more than that, the way people think about using it.
I got to know your own value, know what you want, and stick with it.That's what T. McDowell's advice to others is, and it's certainly worked for him. This high school senior is currently the owner of Immersion Imaging, a successful company specializing in Internet commerce solutions and online financial databases.
McDowell launched the company in 2012, which was originally called 4thDimension Graphics. Two years later, it was recognized as Immersion Imaging.Surprisingly, he didn't begin the company with the assistance of any partner, but instead founded it on his own with the experience and contacts that he already had.
It's always been a one person operation. I could easily take on partners or scale up the business some more, but I want to keep it this way for now,"McDowell said. don't lack any contracts right now. I like it because it's flexible, so that if I need more income, I can do more; and if I take a break for a while, I don't have any problems. If McDowell spends between 30 and 60 hours a week working,Immersion Imaging will offer him a steady income.
Part of the reason why McDowell ended up in the computer industry might be explained by the exposure he had as a child. However, he spends his free time on more than just computers. His real interest lies in aviation. With his business spirit and success, McDowell won't have a problem realizing his dreams of the sky one day.
