Mr. Green was our science teacher. On the first day of our class, he gave us a talk about an animal called wampus. He told us that the wampus lived on earth millions of years ago during the Ice Age and died out because of the change of climate (气候) . we all listened carefully and took 1 of everything he said. Later we had a 2 .
When the exam paper was 3 to me, I was surprised and sad. There was a big red "X" through each of my answers. I failed. But how come? Anyway on the test paper, I had written down 4 Mr. Green said in class.
Then I realized that no one 5 the exam at all. What had happened?
"Very simple, " Mr. Green explained. "I had 6 all that story about the wampus. There had never been any such animal, so the information in your notes was not correct. Do you expect to get 7 marks for incorrect answers? "
There was no need to say we were 8 . What kind of test was this? What kind of teacher was he?
How could we believe he gave us so much information about an animal that had not been there at all? How was it possible 9 us students to doubt what the teacher taught us?
"The zeros on your papers will be 10 in your grade books, " he said. And he did it.
Through this 11 , Mr. Green hoped that we would learn something. Teachers and books are not always12 . In fact, no one is. He told us not to let our mind go to sleep. Instead, we should keep thinking all the time and speak up if we think there are 13 in our teachers' words or in books.
We should 14 the habit of doubting, and the ability to decide by ourselves. What a special 15 he gave us!

The kitchen is especially quiet except the sound of the machine during work hours in Becker's bread store. The quiet environment is not the result of the strict rules, but because ★ . They use sign language to communicate with each other from time to time.
Becker's shop is in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It sells many kinds of German bread, cakes and coffee. It is very popular for the story of Becker who opened it.
Over twenty years ago, Becker and his wife heard about a Chinese public project. It provided language training for the disabled children, but it was short of trainers in Changsha. So they came in 2002 with a common wish to do something meaningful in life.
In Changsha, together with other Chinese trainers, they helped children improve their hearing and language pronunciation. Every little progress each child experienced was a great encouragement to them, and they achieved their goal in life.
After ten years of working for this project, they found that the disabled adults couldn't be independent because they had no professional skills. Then Becker and his wife set up a bread store to teach these people how to make bread. With their help, all of them were able to live on their own.
Luckily, Becker and his wife have also got the support from the local government. More people join them and understand that disabled people can work as well as others when they have the same chances.
Reading is getting more and more popular among young Chinese. A new survey says that 85% of young people in China read at least 1 book last year. The number of young people who are reading has been rising in recent years, especially of teenagers, who read an average (平均) of 11. 5 books last year.
The data (数据) shows that teenagers spend much more time reading from school textbooks to some other reading materials, such as novels, e-books, magazines and so on. But younger children aged 2-8 are mainly reading for fun.
When it comes to technology and reading, the survey suggests little. It does point out that many parents control the time of electronic reading, mainly because of worrying about increased screen time. However, most Chinese parents are helping their children to develop a reading habit. They serve as examples for their children. More than 70% of Chinese parents spend at least 20 minutes a day reading to their children aged 0 to 8 years old, and visit bookstores with them an average of three times a year. Data shows that kids and teens who do a lot of reading, compared to those who don't like reading, have more books in the home. Their parents read more often, and would like to spare time to read with them.
Remember that although you might lose something else, knowledge can never be taken away from you. Please read books as often as you can.
