A woman kept a bird and she really liked it. But one day the bird flew away. The woman was sad and went out to look for it on the mountain near her home. At last, she met the bird. 

The woman said excitedly, "Will you please go home with me, my bird?" Though the bird was also happy to see the woman, it shook its head.

"Take me to your home and let me see how you live. " the woman said. The bird led the woman to its new home. She found it lived well with many other birds. So she decided to go back home alone. Before she was leaving, the bird gave her a basket.

When she returned home, she told her husband what had happened. Her husband opened the basket and saw a lot of gold. The man was very greedy (贪婪的) and he went to the bird's home, too.

"Hello, my bird. I miss you very much. " cried the man falsely (虚伪地). In fact, he used to treat the bird badly. The bird said nothing. It took out two baskets, a light one and a heavy one. The bird asked him to choose one and he could open it after he reached home.

Of course, he chose the heavy one and took it home with great difficulty. However, when he opened the basket, he found it was full of stones!

Bananas are good snack(点心). Not only are they sweet and delicious, but they are easy to take around, so you can take them anywhere. Best of all, bananas provide (提供) different things that the human body needs!

Bananas grow best in warm places that get lots of rain. They grow on plants that look like trees. The banana plant, however, is considered a herb (草本) rather than a tree because it doesn't have a strong, woody stem (干、茎). The plants can grow as high as 30 feet. When they reach their full height, flowers grow out from the stem. These flowers produce bananas.

Two or three times each year, the plants produce fruit. The bananas grow together, which seem like "hands". A hand is made up of 10 to 20 bananas. Growers sometimes call bananas "fingers". Each bunch (丛) of bananas has about 15 hands, and so a whole bunch may have as many as 200 bananas and can weigh more than 100 pounds. 

After about three months, farmers pick(摘) the bananas. At this point, they still aren't the sunny yellow color: bananas. Farmers pick them when they're green. That's how they're shipped to stores. They turn yellow along the way and are ready to be sold.

If you love bananas, you've got a lot of company. Americans have been enjoying bananas since the first shipment arrived in the United States in 

1876. Today Americans eat more bananas than any other fruit. More bananas are sold than apples and grapes together. Every American eats over 26 pounds of bananas each year!

Do you have true friends? Do you want to know better between you and your friends? There are three different kinds of friends: "pest friends", "guest friends", and "best friends".

The first kind of friends is simply an acquaintance(熟人). All you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friends at school, at work, or on the bus, but you don't miss them when they're not around. When this kind of friends does something bad, you don't tell them. That is why they are called "pest friends".

The second kind of friends could also be called "social partners". They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little of what they like or dislike, and a little of their family histories. You usually have a few things in common, but you don't talk about anything deep, such as your wishes or fears, and they don't open up to you how they really feel.

The last kind of friends, the "best friend", is the one you know the deepest. You're like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other's houses, and you share your deepest feelings and thoughts. They will correct you when you're wrong. Sometimes they may not be perfect, but at least they will always care about you, and never do anything on purpose (故意地) to hurt you.

We all have our pest, guest, and best friends. We should value all friendships and remember, all best friends start out as just acquaintances. 

 Learning to play an instrument can be one of the most exciting ways to spend your free time. There are many different kinds of instruments to choose from: guitar, piano, violin … There is always one that's right for you. The following may help you make it. 

First, you need to choose an instrument that you would like to learn to play. You could also think about the kind of music you'd like to play. This may be the kind of music that you also enjoy listening to. 

When you finish choosing your instrument, you need to buy it. If it is very expensive, you can borrow one. Some schools will lend students instruments. Or you can buy a second-hand instrument and it's usually much cheaper. 

After you get your instrument, you should then make a learning plan. You can have personal(个人的) lessons with a music teacher or go to a music school. You can also choose to learn on your own. 

After you learn to play a song for some time, you should start playing for others. It is a good idea to start with your family or friends. Then you can try to play for larger groups of people. 

To become a good musician, you have to keep playing. Keep learning as much as you can and practice often. As you learn more, you will get better and better. 
 

My cousins were born in a rich family. There is a beautiful swimming pool in their house. My cousins didn't think they were better than anyone else, 1 they were rich.

The 2 was that my uncle John and my aunt Kate made sure they were not spoiled (溺爱). The 3 was a good example of this. 

One day in summer, my cousins were bored and 4 , so they said to my uncle John, "Dad, we don't have a pool. Can we have one?" "Of course you can!" said their father. "It will be started 5 . " The kids were very happy.

Early the next day, my uncle woke up 6 and brought them downstairs. "Come outside. I have a 7 for you!" he said. "Close your eyes. " They did, and he took them to the backyard (后院). At first, the digging went 11 because they felt tired every day. Within ten 12 , they dug a pool. Then the workers came and put the cement (水泥) into the pool. My cousins were so 13 that summer!

Years later, my cousin said to me, "I never asked my dad if I could use his car because I was afraid I'd have to 14 it by myself!"

They had many good things in their lives, but the biggest so far was having very 15 parents. 

These days, I'm interestedChristmas movies. There is nothing  (good) than enjoying some snacks and watching a        funny film at home. Here are two of my favorites. 

The Snowman is old short cartoon about a boy. The boy's snowman comes to life and decides (take) the boy to meet the Santa Clause(圣诞老人). They fly there together! The scenes(场景)of the film are beautiful. But for me, the music is the  (special). 

 The Santa Clause is a Disney film about a man named Scott. He is (spend) the night before Christmas Day with his son Charlie. for some reason, the old Santa Clause can't come and Scott has to be the new Santa! However, is not easy to be the Santa Clause. (lucky), many people come and help Scott. The film is very interesting and the (character) in it are all lovely!

Lao She is one of the Chinese writers . And Teahouse is one of Lao She's famous plays. Lao She was 

born in Beijing in 1899. His mother sent him to a teacher's school in 1913. Afterschool in 1918，he became a head teacher of a primary school. In 1924, Lao Shehome and went to England. He taught Chinese at a college in London and came back to China five years later. He wrote many，novels and short stories about people's lives, and was named"the People's Artist".
