Chopsticks are a pair of small equal-length sticks, usually made of wood, used for eating Asian food. Chopsticks are mainly used in China. And it is believed that the first chopsticks were developed in China. Chopsticks play an important role in Chinese food culture. Chinese chopsticks are usually 9 to 10 inches long. They are round on the eating end which means heaven(天),and the other end is square which means earth. The appearance of chopsticks said goodbye to those days when our Chinese ancestors（祖先） had to use their hands to eat.
Besides, the use of chopsticks has also been a part of Chinese food culture. There are some taboos that you must pay great attention to when you use chopsticks. Firstly, don't use them to hit your bowl or plate. Secondly, never use them to point at others. Thirdly, don't put them in different food without taking something. Fourthly, don't cross the chopsticks on the table. And lastly, don't leave your chopsticks standing in the rice. Chinese people do this only when they honor(尊重) the dead.
Nowadays, chopsticks have many new usages. For example, you can buy a pair as a gift to your friends and relatives. In Chinese, it reads "筷子", which means having sons soon, so a newly-married couple will be very happy to accept it as their wedding gift.
I often hear some students say English is difficult, and it gives them a headache. So they can't learn it well. But English is very easy for me. I'm good at it. I'm very glad to tell you something about how I study English.
First, I think an interest in Egnlish is very important. When I was in Grade One, we had a new subject—English. It was fresh for me. I was interested in it, so I worked hard at it. Soon we had an English exam and I got a very good mark. How happy I was! After that, I learned English harder and harder. Our English teacher often teaches us English songs, and the songs sound nice. I often think how interesting English is!
Second, I think English is a foreign language. I should learn it well in the following ways: listen to the teacher carefully, speak bravely, read aloud and have a good vocabulary. Then practice again and again, never be tired. And I have a good habit: asking whenever I have a question.
Third, I often read English stories, jokes and easy novels. From these I know English is not only interesting, but also useful. They help me understand a lot of things. So to do more reading is an important way to learn English well.
And I also do some exercises from our class magazines, and I often write English dairies. English has become a close friend of mine.

Last week, my partner and I took part in a volunteer activity. We decided to send some to the old people in a local nursing home (养老院).
Soon a plan was made and online. My aunt and two of my friends sent me some money to buy gifts. Several days later, we met lady who ran a shop. She gave us a big box of chocolate, biscuits and sweets to add the presents. We collected lots of food and gifts from people and wrapped (包裹) them . A man saw my post and he to drive us to the nursing home. I was to see people coming together to help.
Although it was the time for me to go to the nursing home, I was still a little nervous. But when the nursing manager began to show us around everyone's room, I saw the smiles and surprises on faces and I was so happy to be there.
It was a wonderful experience and I strongly suggest that people do something kind as it will bring you so much . Helping others will benefit (获益) yourself as well.
