A smile shows that a person is happy. For example, a person may smile when he or she is pleased with a grade on a test. Or a person might smile if a friend told a funny joke. People smile for many different reasons. But smiles are more than just a way for people to show that they are happy. There are other good reasons to smile often.
First, it is easier to smile than to show unhappiness. In fact, it only takes 17 muscles(肉) to smile. On the other hand, it takes 43 muscles to show unhappiness. So give the muscles in your face a rest and smile!
Second, smiles are nice. People may try to look nice on the outside by exercising or wearing nice clothes. However, there is a famous saying: a smile is the best thing a person can wear. That is because it is easy to be around someone who is smiling and happy. Almost no one wants to be around someone who is unhappy all the time.
Third, smiles are helpful. Both smiling and laughing can quickly spread from one person to another. If one person smiles, people around him or her want to smile, too. Similarly, when a person laughs, people tend to(倾向于) laugh with them. If a person is sad, the best thing to do is to share a smile or laugh. It is the easiest and cheapest way to cheer someone up.
Finally, smiling and laughing are very good for the body. Even if you are mad or sad, try smiling. You'll find that it will be hard to stay mad or sad for very long.
When I was in fourth grade, I worked part-time as a paperboy. Mrs. Stanley was one of my customers. She'd watch me coming down her street, and by the time I'd biked up to her doorstep, there'd be a cold drink waiting.
I'd sit and drink while she talked. Mrs. Stanley talked mostly about her dead husband, "Mr. Stanley and I went shopping this morning," she'd say. The first time she said that, soda(汽水) went up my nose.
I told my father how Mrs. Stanley talked as if Mr. Stanley were still alive. Dad said she was probably lonely, and that I should sit and listen and nod my head and smile, and maybe she'd work it out of her system. So that's what I did, and it turned out Dad was right. After a while, she seemed to leave her husband over at the cemetery(墓地).
I finally stopped delivering newspapers and didn't see Mrs. Stanley for several years. Then we crossed paths at a church fund-raiser(募捐活动). She was spooning potatoes and looking happy. Four years before, she'd had to offer her paperboy a drink to have someone to talk with. Now she had friends. Her husband was gone, but life went on.
I live in the city now, and my newsboy is a lady named Edna with three kids. She asks me how I'm doing. When I don't say "Fine," she sticks around to listen to my problems. She's lived in the city most of her life. She knows about the community. The community isn't so much a place as it is a state of mind. You find it whenever people ask how you're doing because they care, and not because they're getting paid to do so. Sometimes it's good to just smile, nod your head and listen.
Jules Verne's novel, Around the world in 80 days, has inspired (激发) many people to travel around the world in unusual ways. It has also inspired several films, TV series, and even theater productions.
So where did Jules Verne get the idea from? Verne told a reporter that he had been sitting in a cafe in Paris one day when he saw a newspaper advertisement for the first tourist trip around the world in 1872.
In Jules Verne's story, a wealthy English gentleman, Phileas Fogg, accepts a bet(赌注)of 20, 000 that he can travel round the world in 80 days. Phileas Fogg is a man who is very hard to please. For example, his servant loses his job because he brings Fogg some water to wash in that is 29℃ but not 30℃.
Then Fogg has a new servant, Passepartout, and on Wednesday, 2nd October,1872, they set off on the journey round the world. While he's in India, Fogg falls in love with an Indian girl, Aouda. The journey ends back in London with Fogg believing that he has come back a day too late and that he has lost the bet. He tells Aouda that he cannot marry her now, as he's too poor. Passepartout learns that they have got the date wrong. They travelled east, so they still have a day left. Fogg hurries to his club and arrives there in time to win the bet and the story ends happily.
The story is an easy read. The humorous twists and turns of the story keep you interested during your reading. It is an exciting story that I would strongly advise all my friends to read.

Now, the couple have opened a small 9 in Beijing, to support a zero-waste life. At the store they use environmentally friendly products. For used toiletries (用品) there is a company which accepts them, and the couple regularly mails their waste to it.
Yu says that those who were once not 13 in the zero-waste lifestyle have gradually changed because of curiosity. The zero-waste lifestyle, she adds, is for everyone.
"It's 14 us at our fingertips. Yu expects some of her friends to15 her on the road to zero waste. As the saying goes, many hands make light work.
