Studies say that people nowadays have more free time than ever before. Then why doesn't it feel that way? These days, our free time is usually spent watching television, using computers or communicating on our phones. To really help us increase our energy levels, it is important to use our free time wisely.
Set up your goal.
Think about what you want to achieve in your free time. Do you want to get fit, get creative or simply relax?
Don't worry about what you should do. Just think about what will make you feel more satisfied.
Set a date.
Plan when you are going to enjoy your free time, and treat it in the same way as anything else on your calendar. If something else more important comes along, you can choose whether or not to____postpone it, but never cancel it!
Do what you want.
Many people worry too much about their free time activities. They want to do things that will make their friends surprised, or help them get a better job. But free time isn't about that. It is about doing an activity for fun, so don't let outside pressures influence your choice.
You'll really know you're using your time wisely if what you' re doing helps other people. So find out what's going on in your community and lend a hand. Visit the elderly or help out in a children's club. If socializing is not your thing, why not volunteer for a wildlife organization?
Taking trips to places with fewer people and beautiful natural scenery has become a trend in China since the COVID-19 pandemic. In other words, rural(乡村的) tourism is gaining popularity among Chinese tourists. Besides the influence of the pandemic, there must be some other reasons. Here are some of them.
Wang Shang works for a Beijing-based company that helps organize countryside tours. She believes that experiencing a different lifestyle is an important reason why citizens travel to rural areas. Most of the visitors from cities are used to buying food in supermarkets. But in rural areas, they can easily get them on farms. They are used to watching high buildings and busy traffic. But in rural areas, they can enjoy more peaceful and clean rivers or mountains.
Tourists' expectations for rural tourism are not limited to enjoying natural scenery and experiencing the countryside life. Cao Yiqin, a 26-year-old tourist, told us that rural trips help her not only "enjoy the natural beauty" but also "reduce stress by escaping the busy city life and getting closer to nature".
Apart from the above reasons, the government encourages cultural companies and their employees to go to the countryside to help with local business. They have brought some great changes to the rural areas, including the renovation(翻新) of the buildings, the spread of rural culture, the processing of agricultural products, etc.
The trend has also been pushed by some Chinese Internet stars. An Internet star has posted many videos of traditional Chinese rural life on the Internet and attracted a large number of viewers.
Traditionally, we take the subway with our subway cards or by scanning QR codes(扫描二维码)on our smartphones. But now, people traveling on the Beijing Daxing Airport Express subway have a new way to take a ride: They can scan their palms.
To enjoy the service, people need to register their palm prints on machines in subway stations along the Daxing Airport Express subway line. Then they have to activate(激活)the palm﹣scanning function on their smartphones. Once they do this, they can scan their palms at ticket gates to pass through. After they finish the travel, the payment service on their smartphones will pay the money for their ride.
Many people welcome the new technology. They think it helps them to travel faster and more easily. They don't have to take out their subway cards or smartphones when they want to pass through the ticket gates. And they no longer have to worry when they forget to take their subway cards or when their smartphones run out of battery. What's more, the palm﹣scanning technology is very friendly to old people and those who have special needs. Those people may not use smartphones well. This technology makes it possible for them to take the subway without using smartphones.
In addition to Beijing, the palm﹣scanning technology is also in service in the subway station of Shenzhen.
And there are hopes that it can be used in more places like stores and restaurants in the future. (1)How can a passenger take the subway with the new system?
