If a friend does a big favour for us, it's a good idea to write them a thank-you 1 . But how many of us actually 2 to do this?
"People don't appear to walk around giving thanks to people quite 3 ." Amit Kumar from University of Texas said. Why aren't people sure or active about sending thank-you notes? And how do people 4 when they receive one?
Kumar and his team asked their 5 to write a thank-you note to another person by email. Then, they asked both the 6 and the receiver how sending or receiving these notes made them feel.
They found that the students didn't like to write the notes 7 they felt like they had to think too much about them. They worried about 8 to say and how to say it.
The receivers, however, 9 the notes. "When you are a receiver, you pay more attention to the warmth of the note," Kumar says. "How moving was it? How friendly and 10 ?"
The writers also thought it 11 be awkward (尴尬的) for the receiver to get a thank-you note. But it was not what 12 imagined.
"They (receivers) feel quite happy," Kumar says. "They don't really feel awkward at all."
"13 people knew that writing a thank-you note could have such a big impact (影响) on others, they would do it 14 often," Kumar says.
"Simple, small changes in our everyday lives can make a big 15 in how we treat other people and how we feel," he says.

Moon's Reservoirs
How much water is there on the Moon? This is a question we have tried to answer for many years. A group of scientists from China and the UK found that the Moon may have water "reservoirs (水库)", according to Nature Geoscience.
Over a large amount of years, asteroids (小行星) have hit the Moon, causing the soil to melt and fly into space. It is then cooled down and falls back to the Moon, forming beads (珠子) of glass. The Chang'e-5 probe, which returned to the Earth on December 17, 2020, brought back a total of 1,731 grams of rocks and soil from the Moon, including glass beads, reported Xinhua.
The international research team looked into 32 glass beads. They found that about one ton of glass beads may contain 0.5 kilograms of "water". "This ‘water' wasn't a liquid but instead took the form of hydrogen (氢) in the glass beads, which can easily be turned into the water we can use," one of the study authors told Science and Technology Daily.
Researchers estimated that the water contained in the glass beads could probably reach to as much as 270 trillion kilograms. "It's a lot more than we thought," the author added.
The study said the hydrogen in the glass beads may come from the Sun as part of solar winds. The glass beads have many small holes which can absorb (吸收) hydrogen from the wind.
This finding would be a "really big deal" for space exploration, as humans plan to settle on. the Moon in the future, a space scientist told ABC News.

Anna hated helping with the cooking. What she loved best was riding Copper. Since Mum died, Dad has made it clear to her that she should be safe. Anna never had the chance to drive the cattle on Copper.
After washing cups and going to her bed, she listened to the men talking about the next day's work.
"A storm's coming," Dad said. "The cattle will be afraid."
Anna tried to sleep but couldn't. "The men will need my help!" She thought. But when she asked Dad, he refused her offer. Anna crossed her arms and looked at the sky. The stars disappeared under a blanket of clouds. The wind blew hard. The cattle were nervous.
The camp slept everyone but Anna. Tears ran down her face. Why couldn't Dad understand? She knew he had gone through much pain about Mum's death, but how could he try to protect Anna from everything? Anna felt a few drops of rain. She got up, took her hat and went towards her horse. "Copper!" She whispered. The horse seemed to understand her. It walked close to Anna and she rode slowly into the darkness. Pulling her hat down against the rain, she lost herself in memories of riding with her parents.
A loud sound of thunder (雷声) shook Anna from her thought. Copper became nervous, too. As lightning (闪电) lit the land, Anna saw the cattle and felt the same fear. More lightning crashed. The cattle became more nervous and at last, some young ones began to run wildly.
Stampede (动物惊跑) ! All of them were coming to the camp!
Anna turned Copper around and raced back, shouting loud. Anna saw the men trying to get out of the way. The lightning was bright as daylight. At full speed, Anna led Copper towards the cattle.
She raced forward with the cattle, shaking her hat at them and trying to change their direction (方向). It was hard, but slowly more and more followed. Finally, the camp was safe. Dad and all the other men came along and helped lead the cattle back.
Later when Anna was making coffee to warm them, Dad looked down at her seriously. Something different was in his usually gentle brown eyes. "Good job!" Finally he pulled Anna into a bear hug. "If you forgive (原谅) an old man for loving his girl too much, I'd have you ride with us tomorrow."
a. Anna saved the whole camp. b. Anna's Mun died.
c. Dad refused Anna's help. d. A storm came, along with the stampede.
e. Anna was sad and rode out alone.

Today, I am going to talk about Bangkok, my home town and the capital of my country, Thailand.
The streets in Bangkok are very crowded, so it can take a long time to get from place to place. It sometimes takes me more than two hours to get to school by bus! I often sleep on my way there! Lots of people take tuktuks to get through the traffic quickly. They are like little cars with three wheels (轮子).
Bangkok is next to a big river. It is interesting to visit the Floating Market on the river. At the market, people sell lots of fresh fruit and vegetables from their boats. In November, we have the Festival of Lights. Everyone makes lights during the festival. Then, after dark, we put then into the river and watch them float away.
Thailand is also famous for its food. Thai food is very hot, like some Chinese food. So if you like Sichuan food, you'll love Thai food!
