Paper cutting （剪纸） is a traditional Chinese art. During the Spring Festival, people stick paper cuttings on windows, doors and walls. They think paper cuttings can bring them good luck and a happy new year. Paper cutting sounds very easy but it can be difficult to do. The paper is usually red. The paper-cutter uses very simple tools, such as knives （刀） and scissors, to cut parts of the paper away. After these parts are cut away, a lovely picture appears （呈现）. Some paper cuttings are of Chinese characters （汉字）.
Others are of animals or plants.
Mr Webster has a bar （酒吧） in our town. Its name is The White Horse, because there was a picture of a white horse on the wall. Now everything in the bar goes well, but things were quite different three months ago.
At that time, Mr Webster was much worried about his bar, because there weren't many customers （顾客）. One day a friend came, looked around and said, "Take down the picture of the white horse and change it for a picture of
a black one."
"But the name of the bar is The White Horse." Mr Webster said.
"Yes, but just do it," his friend said and went out of the bar.
Mr Webster went to an artist and said, "I want a picture of a black horse."
The next day a picture of a black horse appeared on the wall. Soon after the door opened, an old man came in and shouted, "There's a great mistake! The picture on the wall is different from the name." Then he sat down anddrank something.
Another man came in and said the same, and then another and another. A lot of people came in and said, "The picture on your wall is wrong." But they all stopped and drank in Mr Webster's bar.
From then on, Mr Webster was happy again.
