Last summer, I learned to ride a bike. But I was in my 30s. My parents divorced(离婚) when I was 4. In order to show the 1 as a parent, my father bought a bike as a gift for me, but he never had a chance to teach me how to ride.
My mum later married again. I was often 2 because I was the only six-year-old kid who still needed training wheels on the bike. My mum took the wheels off, but I lost 3 in the activity.
I was so 4 because I thought I was too old to learn to ride a bike.
Not knowing how to ride the bike didn't make me worried until we moved to the countryside where bicycles were popular.
I began to learn to ride a bike again in my early 30s. I was nervous at first and I also felt 5 when watching children as young as 3 learn to balance on bikes. Then something changed. 6 the fear was still there, something much stronger appeared.
I joined a women's bike-riding club. There, I decided to 7 my fear. The women of the club encouraged me to have a try again and again. A few months later, I could ride 8 .
So I 9 my own bike. It wasn't just a bike. It meant the 10 I missed earlier.
Anyway, buying a bike wasn't just a gift for myself and it was also a bridge connecting with my time-a childhood memory.
"If I get taller, I can reach the key on the table. And if I get smaller, I can enter the garden. "said Alice. Then she finished a piece of cake.
Soon she grew up to three metres tall. She hurried to the garden door after getting the key. But she was too tall. She cried and found a large pool of salt water around her. Suddenly, she heard a voice.
It was the White Rabbit again. He was hurrying down the room with a pair of gloves and a fan.
"Hi, sir…"Alice's voice frightened the Rabbit. He dropped the gloves and the fan and ran away quickly. Alice picked them up.
She said, "Oh! How strange! Shall I get smaller again?"She felt very low again.
Feeling too hot, Alice cooled down with the fan. Surprisingly, she found herself wearing one glove. "How did I get it?"She thought. "Oh, I'm getting smaller now. How to stop it?""It must be the fan!"SoAlice dropped it quickly.
"Things are getting worse, "thought poor Alice. She turned away from the door and fell into salt water that was the pool of her tears.
Alice swam around and looked for a way out but failed. Then she saw an animal, looking big but only a mouse.
"Shall I speak to it?"thought Alice. "Everything is very strange here, so perhaps it can speak too. "
Then she began, "Oh, Mouse, do you know the way out of this pool?"The mouse looked at her but said nothing.
"Perhaps it's a French mouse. "Remembering the first sentence in her French book, she said, "Where's my cat?"Then the mouse jumped out of the water angrily.
a. Alice dropped into the salt water.
b. Alice met a mouse and spoke to it.
c. Alice heard the White Rabbit hurrying down the room.
d. Alice got the key and went to the door in a hurry.
Recently, the Nandagang wetland in Hebei Province has become home to over 300 oriental white storks(东方白鹳), a species under first-class national protection. This number is three times that of the same period last year.
These birds, widely found in China, Japan and Korea in former times, are so rare and special that they are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature(世界自然保护联盟). Therefore, they have strict requirements for their living environment. Only wetlands with clean pools, and little pieces of land with large quantities of food and water can become their habitats.
This large, long-necked bird ranges in height from 60 cm to over 150 cm (2 to 5 feet). The feathers on the body are mainly pure white. The wings are wide and long. All or part of the head and upper neck may be featherless and brightly coloured.
Oriental white storks began to leave their breeding(繁殖) places from late September to earlyOctober, forming groups and travelling southward. Along the way, it's necessary to choose suitable places to rest, and some places can rest for more than 40 days. They often gather in open areas like grasslands, lakes for activities. Most storks are found in groups except during the breeding season. They feed during the day. Most eat small animals caught in areas of water or fields that are not deep, such as small fish, frogs, insects and so on.
According to a recently released measure to strengthen physical education in schools, primary and middle school students in Shenzhen will have daily PE classes from Jan 1, 2024. As part of the measure, these schools will allocate____no less than 30 minutes for sports activities throughout the day.
In Buxin Primary School, the number of PE classes rose to 200, with each lesson lasting for 40 minutes. And the school had to arrange teachers from other subjects to lead some PE classes because of lacking PE teachers. Liu Xunhua, a Chinese teacher, has taken on the role of a PE teacher. Liu leads students in jumping rope and jumping jacks. "Everything is for students'health, and we support the new measure. "said Liu.
However, there are still many issues to be solved. A key problem faced by many schools is the limited space available for new PE classes. In Longhua Foreign Languages School, for example, if there are too many PE classes at the same time, teachers have to take students to Luhuci park opposite the school.
Qilin No. 2 Middle School in Nanshan began daily PE classes as early as November 2021. Now the school is trying out intelligent sports bracelets(手环) to ensure that each child receives a suitable amount of exercise.
Many students believe sports activities help reduce stress. Chen Xinru, a grade 8 student fromXin'an Middle School, said taking daily PE classes could increase their ability for learning. "When I'm tired, I can relax by running or playing basketball and I can ▲ , "said Chen.
However, some parents are concerned that students may not have enough time to complete their learning tasks because some of students' classes have been replaced by PE classes.
A. Then try singing with your mouth closed. B. Now listen to your favorite songs. C. Because our brain can only do one thing at a time. D. Here are three easy and useful tips you can use. E. By doing one thing at a time, you can quickly go from feeling stressed to calm. F. Your brain will change the message from"danger" to "all is well". |
Are you under pressure? Exam pressure, public speeches, job interviews can all make you feel nervous. Well, neuroscience(神经系统科学) can give you some help.
First, take a breathing exercise.
Take a deep breath for five seconds, hold it for a second, and then push all the air out through your nose, slowly, counting to five. Repeat a few times. Under stress we are likely to breathe very quickly as our body gets ready for dangers. Breathe deeply and slowly. So the next time you are in danger, use deep breathing to force your body into a state of calm.
Studies have shown that singing without opening your mouth can make the vagus nerve (迷走神经), one of the most important parts of our body, more active. So the next time you feel your heart beats so fast, give it a try and let it calm you down.
The final tip is to focus.
When you're busy, you may think it's a good idea to do different tasks at the same time. But if you want to stay calm and actually get things done in a good way, don't have a try. If when you do two things at once, it has to change between them very rapidly, and floods your body with stress.
So next time you feel stressed, remember to breathe, hum(哼唱) and focus.
My dad lost his job and he is quite anxious. My mum is a housewife, so she has no idea how to help. My mom is always on her phone. I want her to spend more time with me. My parents are giving me the choice to teach my sister piano. Any tips? My mom tells me to get rid of some of my things, but they all seem special. My parents argue a lot. I wish I could make them stop. It's really upsetting. | A. Ask yourself whether you really value and use them. To help you decide, try an experiment. Notice what you use over a month's time. At the end of the month, you might consider giving away what you didn't use. Knowing that your things will bring happiness to someone else may help you let them go. B. Your mom may not realize how you feel. Ask her if there's a time when you two can sit down to talk about something that's on your mind. Also, you can start a daily"team"routine, like washing dishes together. Chores can be a great time to talk, sing, or tell jokes. C. You're not alone. Adults disagree at times, just as kids do. They must solve their own disagreement. If you feel unhappy, focus on things that'll help you feel calm. Do activities you enjoy, or write or draw to express how you feel. At a time when things are calm, tell your parents how you feel. D. Tell your parents how you're feeling. Although they may not have all the answers right now. Give one another a little more space. During times of change, it's natural for people to feel sad or upset more often than usual. Remember to be kind and supportive as your family decides how to move forward. E. What an exciting chance!Talk to your parents and sister about what they expect. Together, make a clear plan for the lessons. This will help you up for success. You could also consider using a piano book, which may help you plan each lesson. Finally, remember to be patient with your sister. F. It's common to see parents push their children on their studies because they always care about the results. You had better have a talk with your parent about your worries and stress and ask for their understanding and support. I believe things will be better if you communicate well. |
Respecting teachers has always been a tradition in China. Yang Shi was a philosopher in the Northern Song Dynasty. One day, he and his schoolmates had different (idea) on a question. To get a correct answer, he went to visit Cheng Yi, the famous philosopher. After a while, it began to snow (heavy). The little boy came out again and reminded Yang Mr. Cheng might spend the whole afternoon meditating. He invited Yang to warm (he) in the house to avoid the wind and snow. Yang kept standing in the snow and waiting outside in order that he could ask Cheng's opinion on the question.
As soon as Cheng finished meditating, the boy reported that Yang (wait) outside. When Cheng heard this, he came out to see Yang. When the door was opened, everyone was (shock). The snow was more than foot deep, but Yang stood still, without moving his feet. "Young man, why are you so silly? You could have come again someday!"Cheng took Yang to the room at once.
Cheng was very moved and accepted Yang his student because of Yang's politeness and efforts. He told Yang all his philosophical thoughts. That made a big difference to Yang's life. Later, Yang really learned a lot and made great contributions to his country.
