Aria Lamen is a nine-year-old girl in Illinois, the US. On February 2nd, 2023, she was doing her homework at home when her mother Caron Lamen passed out (失觉).
Aria worried about her mother a lot and she quickly called her father. Then, she called 911 and waited with her mother. After some time, the doctors arrived. Aria locked (锁) the dog home and went to the hospital with her mom.
Aria said she stayed calm (冷静的) by remembering what was important-her mother needed help. " It was no use being scared. If I just called Dad and he arrived late, then it was too late. That was why I called 911 later. "
" At that time, I couldn' t move or feel anything. And I could not speak at all, " said Caron. " Luckily, Aria was at home and helped me. " Caron spent 16 days in hospital and now she is home.
Talking about the dream, Aria said, " I want to be a doctor when I grow up. It' s great to know what to do and how to help others. I feel really, really happy that Mom is okay. "

Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (雅万高速铁路) was finished in March, 2023. For most Chinese, the opening of a high-speed railway is usual, but for people of Indonesia (印度尼西亚), this railway is a " dream road" . When China started to help them build (修建) it, they were excited and said, " We' ll have high-speed trains, too. Thank you, China!"
Indonesia was the second country in Asia to have a railway, but its old railways didn' t help it much. Trains ran at 60 kilometers an hour. It was slow. From Jakarta to Bandung, it' s about 160 kilometers. But it took over 3 hours by train. And those old railways are not in the right places. Also Jakarta has quite a lot of people. Many people use highways (公路), so the highways are too busy. Indonesia really needs a high-speed railway.
When building this new railway, China met many difficulties. The 142. 3-kilometer railway isn' t long. But because of the terrible terrain (地形), it needs lots of bridges and tunnels (隧道). The weather in Indonesia is hot and rainy. COVID-19 made it hard, too. But China worked hard and finished it.
This railway opened in June, 2023. Trains run at 350 kilometers an hour. It takes only 40 minutes to get to Bandung from Jakarta. How great!
The most popular teen band was coming to town. Both Alice and her twin sister Amanda really wanted to go to the concert. They had never been to a concert because their parents didn' t allow them to go there until they were in the sixth grade.
" Please, Mom and Dad. We will do anything if you let us go, " they begged their parents. Alice and Amanda jumped up and down with excitement.
" Slow down, " said their dad. " We will make some conditions. "
Alice and Amanda listened patiently as their dad went over the conditions.
" First, work very hard and get an A on your next book report. Second, pay for the concert tickets yourselves. Third, find an adult to go to the concert with you because Mom and I will have a charity dinner that night. "
Alice and Amanda smiled at each other because they could easily meet the first two conditions. Suddenly they looked across the table at the oldest sister Andrea who was 18 years old.
The day of the concert finally arrived. When they got to the concert, the three sisters had the seats with the best view. Then the music began. But they didn' t mind at all. They just listen to the music carefully without talking. It was amazing to watch the band members play different musical instruments and hear the elements of the music coming together with the band.

Lion was growing old and weak, but he was still wise. He realized that he could soon starve (挨饿) to death he continued to have no food. So, the sickly lion came up with a plan.
At night, when no one was watching, he went into a deep cave (secret). In the morning, a crow (乌鸦) (send) the crow to spread the news that Lion had grown old and did not have long to live.
" Tell the (animal), " he said, " that they must come to see me. "
Deer was the first (come). When she reached a dark corner of his cave, the lion leaped on her and ate (she). So it went with rabbit and with wolf.
Fox also heard Lion' s message. Fox reached the mouth of the cave and hesitated. On the ground, he saw footprints of the deer, the rabbit and the wolf entering the cave. But he saw no footprints returning.
Lion called out, " Is that you, Friend Fox? Come in. I have an important message for you. " The fox (clever) than others, replied, " rabbit and wolf entering your cave, none coming out again. Unless there is more room, I think I' ll wait out here. " So it was that Fox went on to live long and happy life.
